United Domestic First Class: Is it Better than Before Covid? 

Why would any of them care? They provide free upgrades to frequent fliers, which has diluted the product immeasurably. There is no incentive to improve the service. It’s not like they’re making money on the product, so why bother?

@Ann Hanover I flew AA first class, round trip LAX-HNL long before the pandemic. The service was horrific and I could not even eat the meal going over. I LITERALLY could not cut the French toast with a knife. And it was served with some sort of molasses-like syrup instead of maple. It was revolting. I told the flight attendant about it and gave it back to her (nicely, as it wasn’t her fault) and she just said, “Yeah. Sometimes that happens.” She took my tray and didn’t offer me a single thing to replace it. Nothing. I’ve never, EVER had anything like that on UA, so don’t even try to make it sound like they are worse. AA SUCKS! And DL is getting worse these days, as well.

People keep flying and paying for these seats. Why should they give a f*ck? While they cram economy like cattle, please, its about the bottom line.

@@laxjetbear I flew United first class to Hawaii and got 2 hot meals. One of which a French toast and it was literally the best French toast I ever had on land, sea, or air. If you got a bad toast it probably was the flight attendant's fault. He or she over cooked it and it turned into a rock.

The best thing to do is to leave it in the package and order a hot coffee or tea. then take the stroopwaffle and place it over the hot coffee or tea and let it melt a little. its so good.

I don’t think they will, on United or any other US airline. Passengers will begin flying again regardless and the beancounters will realize that they can still fill the seats even with covid service levels, so there will be no need to offer hot meals or other perks even to first class passengers again.

I think the margin on those seats have to go up, and they need to sell more seats up front as J fares before something closer to original meals. The price for the seats up front reflect a lack of business travelers, and United would rather get a small premium over coach that to give a free upgrade to someone who made Silver. It's been very surprising how small the upgrade lists are on many flights.

I used to travel with Continental before the United buy out, and the difference is very apparent. Continental was much nicer , especially the food. 😀

Not sure what announcement you mean, but I just flew to/from Turks and Caicos from Newark. Planning to go to Spain in June, just waiting on what they plan to require to prove I'm vaccinated, all I have is that CDC card that apparently people are easily forging.

And they still charge you for wifi lmao. Like wtf are you paying all that extra money for? Absolute garbage!

United is among the best airlines in the world. It hires the best aviators in the industry. They’re among the best of the best.

They have ife... A whole movie and tv library you access through your phone, PC, or tablet

I was in one yesterday. Iberia A330-200 for Amsterdam - Madrid. Interesting having such a big plane on a short route.

Quite common in the US. Delta, American, United, and Allegiant all have A320s that are quite up there in age.

United has a lot of old airplanes in their fleet. Their 767s can be as old as 28 years and 777 as old as 26 years.

@@noelphilips Same, not to imagine all appliances we've ran through in those years. Really says something about the plane industry and maintenance. Wouldn't want to fly a plane build by apple older than 3 years. Might fall out of the sky because my plane is to old to upgrade to the latest firmware 🤣
