Great video and vlog as always, Jayden! Funny to think the 777 you flew on is 25 years old...I remember what a big deal it was when they were introduced into service with those giant engines and all their cutting-edge technology. Sad about the state of the bathroom at the lounge - that's really disgusting and inexcusable to have it be in that condition with all that hair everywhere, it's more like a college dormitory. And sad the grapes at the buffet looked like that, although everything else seemed good. The Polaris Business Class cabin is really nice, and the airfare was great for what you got - even with the more-like-economy meal. And again for a 25-year old aircraft, everything looked beautiful and clean. You've got to be careful with those hand soap pumps, or maybe work out less. 😉Ha ha! Thanks again for your great work!
Yep everything else was good indeed, except for the grapes and shower room🤣 Have to say, I'm quite impressed with Delta and UA with the way they keep their planes looking young. Qantas and Virgin Australia planes look like dinosaurs in comparison
Great video once again! i was fortunate enough to try United Polaris last year LAX to MEL which was great, I originally booked a qantas A380 business reward with qantas points but the flight was cancelled the day of my my flight and they rebooked me on polaris, i got 160 status credits for velocity from that which got me to platinum. united food was by far the worst part of the flight though, qantas food is better
@@JaydenWong absolutely, considering I paid qantas points and ended up being able to get the status credits for the flight as if I paid for it for virgin australia which i had gold with, was a pleasant surprise!
Great video, Jayden. Glad you enjoyed your flight. I was pretty horrified by the cleanliness of the shower room though. That was really disgusting. Looks like the plane cleaning wasn’t a whole lot better. The Polaris hard product looks great but United has a ways to go on the soft product.
Hi Mike, thanks for watching! I am flying United again in May from YVR to SF then to Singapore. The second leg of the journey is 17 hours. Excited and nervous at the same time😂
I love that United is flying widebodies on the premium transcon routes.... I've flown this route so, so many times. A lot of the time its on a 787. As far as premium cabins go United's Polaris wins. its the main reason i switched from being an AA elite. Finally made it to 1k with United... Great Video Jayden!!
Hey Jayden, Surprising that this was your first time flying UA. Come to SFO and have a meet and greet :) Like your Adelaide vlog at the end. Helps me get a feel of other cities in Oz for my consideration to visit other places.
great trip report Jayden! I've flown UA from LAX to JFK in "first class" (Business), but I wasn't provided lounge access, I had Star alliance gold as well, I tried to gain access, but a loud "no". Heres to many more coat hoooooks!
Great video. Nice Polaris business class seat. I am planning to fly on B787-10 from LAX to ORD; however, I changed to B737-900ER from DEN to CMH because my friend doesn't want to wait to arrive at midnight at Columbus airport. It's in next month.
Hi Jayden Between those showers and the yukky stuff on your table on the plane...well ....🤢is about all I can say ! The meal looked a good size....I am guessing either this was filmed before you changed your diet...or eating the chicken was "taking one for the team" !!!😎 But yeah that cheesecake looked straight out of a Sarah Lee box !😅 At least you had lovely cabin crew, a decent seat, and a great nap !
Good to see the live ATC feed is still offered (captain's discretion). Those of us who are oldsters may refer to it as "channel 9" from the ancient seat-side channel selector.
If you have that turned on at EWR 4R 22L are the main runways at the airport. Since UA offers EWR MNL via Guam the EWR B737 captain will say Runway 6/24 at MNL if he or she got transferred to GUM from EWR.
Thanks for your review. I agree with you I dont think UA is the cleanest but I do like the Polaris seats. That's one of the best United Club lounges I've seen yet. The food served on UA is usually mediocre even in business. Looking forward to more reviews. That baby was going off on that flight lol always a joy😂.
The Newark United Club looks nice. Though I'm partial to the United Club at LAX. It's good you got the nice Polaris seat. Some of their "Polaris" 777 are 2-4-2 and seats face each other. Too bad you had a dirty table. I once had a seat where someone left a piece of gum in the small storage pocket.
2-4-2?? That was the standard like 30 years ago. Going on a long haul on one of those must feel horrible especially when you are in one of the seats without direct aside access.
@@Yukis.aviationhankfully United switched all their long haul planes with the real Polaris seat now. The 2-4-2 seats are on their 777 that fly domestic or Hawaii, though occasionally on transcontinental flights like Jayden took. At least now they do differentiate Polaris business and their "United business cabin."
Glad you were on that 777 and not a 737 which is what normally flies that route from EWR to LAX. Polaris looked nice. In May I’m going to fly LAX to CUN in United first class on their Max 9, so definitely looking forward to that❤️✈️
@@JaydenWong I was just at LAX plane spotting and we had reverse ops. It was so cool! This is my first Max as well and I’m totally looking forward to it.
Flying Polaris for the first time from LAX to SYD later this year. Seat looks ok but your food didn't look great. Just found your channel, great videos and you're super cute too!
9:48 Engine PW4077-4090 which makes a vacuum cleaner sound on spool up Taxi just like KE B777-200/er from HKG to ICN. In my case ICN-MNL on KE/OZ. Not the case with CX B777-200 silent but takes off with RR Buzzsaw
Thanks for the review, Jayden. Despite their low reputation (or maybe because of it) I still enjoy seeing how the legacy carriers are faring these days. And what a difference ten years makes to Newark. When I flew into Newark in 2013 with Virgin America from LAX, it was hands-down, the single worst airport I'd encountered anywhere in the world. And that's after having flown to over 100 airports in dozens of countries in every continent except Antarctica! I'm glad its been spruced up a little.
Hi Shaun! NYC area airports didn't have a good reputation but LGA, JFK and EWR all seem to be working on upgrading their terminals a lot. Hopefully there'll be direct, non-stop train services from Manhattan to all three airports soon.
Jayden, how far in advance did you book for a ~$600 USD business class ticket? That's a great price, which was common in 2021 when many seats were still empty due to pandemic. More recently, the lowest business class is at least $1,200 USD one-way.
I've looked into this but it's impossible to use points to get Business Class POLARIS in the USA. You have to pay cash for this one due to the massive population in the USA. I was really shocked at the condition of the tray table considering COVID & all. I'll also make sure to shower at the Hotel before going to the Airport. (Your experience was just scary Jayden.) Brilliant presentation & so informative. No one does a review like you do.
That’s not quite true because a lot of people are on waitlist for upgrades too in America. Massive population yes but in return they have more flights compared to say SYD-PER in Australia :)
Hello Jaden! This is Guerry. Thank-you so very much for your as usual, a most informative and wonderful flight review. Indeed, it has been a very long time, but due to medical problems, I’ve not been able to do much “RU-vid” viewing. And… I am a bit late with my comments, but hopefully you remember that I not only take my time when viewing, but I also rewatch videos so that I can write you something substantive. OK… So much for excuses. As far as I am concerned, your United Airlines experience was far from being noteworthy. In short, the only reason I would take a domestic airline is for traveling within the US. If I was to fly internationally, I would do everything possible to fly on a other than US carrier. But in defense of my country’s domestic carriers, for many reasons they have to cut down on a lot of amenities due to so many circumstances. They are doing their best, and I have to applaud their efforts. As a case in point, your 25 year old 777 is actually much less expensive to operate as a whole than upgrading the fleet with the latest aircraft. Indeed, newer aircraft do have better fuel efficient engines and a better aerodynamic design. But when you factor in the cost of a new aircraft, and a bunch of other considerations, the “bean counters” have figured that operating older aircraft is much less expensive. I was amazed when I heard the time of flight from Newark to Los Angeles. Luckily, the flight had favorable winds. I did do some research and discovered that airlines throttle back about 75 to 100 mph in order to save fuel. Before the price of fuel went through the roof, a flight from Newark to Los Angeles would have taken about 4 ½ hours. Without the favorable winds, your flight would have taken at least 45 minutes to an hour longer. But again, the airlines are forced into doing this, and I really do not blame them. As far as your flight review went, you were pretty detailed, and there was nothing for me to add to it. Thank-you again! As a side note and question, have you been to the Hong Kong Buddha yet? I have given you plenty of time, and I am looking for a Buddha trip review - JUST KIDDING! Please take care. I am looking forward to your next post.
Hi Guerry, hope you're doing well! Flying US carrier is not thrilling and uneventful. No wow-factors. The price do reflect this though usually. Japanese carriers are amazing in economy class but they also cost a lot more. I finally visited the Big Buddha yesterday with a friend from Australia. It was very foggy and wet up there. I would do it again, possibly hike up there! Cheers
Wow, B777 is older than you, Jayden 😂, just teasing you. You must remember most U S Airlines can’t complete with most international air carriers, sadly, hope you had an enjoyable flight
After the controversies that United has created within the past few years, I was being anti-United for a while. But it seems like after watching this....they're....not that bad actually! Nice vid as always!
Nice video, but this onboard service is extremely basic and bare-bones. This is the service they bill as their "Premium" transcon product; the best they have. It's hard to excuse the meal all served on a single tray and the dessert packaged in plastic. I would look for other alternatives on this route.
I think your capture the epitome of the US flight experience. A modernized airport (for the USA), a majestic UA 777 (I love the simplicity of the UA livery), however, the filthy (ewr) shower, the grapes at the lounge, the gate agent doesn't even look at you when checking in, the dirty tray table and mediocre inflight food. But what happened here in the WC? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VF2ufNgZFSI.htmlsi=OX2_9eORMLwCTBcU&t=842 haha You're so adorable. Nice to see that beautiful MG, Lilly and your friends in the city blog!
@@JaydenWong Yes, I was teasing when you showed that you sprayed the soap on your leg "again". That happens to me too. The link was supposed to take you right to that moment.
Jayden, it gives me so much stress to see you leave your passport sitting out on surfaces in the lounge. Maybe I have an irrational fear of losing my passport?
well i couldnt get over how disgusting those grapes looked covered in cobwebs... eeew, and also yr table hadnt been cleaned on the plane. another eeew. i must say, Adelaide looks so inviting, i havnt been to south australia for over 30 years. ill hae to go on my next road trip
BA and Virgin Atlantic for example if you have long hair it must be a bun or all tied up, no ponytail. Qantas and Virgin Australia you can have a pony tail. USA whatever 😂
Hi Jayden thank u for the video. Yes the seat did look good and like u said plenty of room. I hate when they don't clean things properly I would carry a pair of thongs with me so when I had a shower I can put them on.
That shower room was beyond disgusting. I have been told by several flyers that United has a certain reputation for flying old and dirty 'planes. Sadly yours was not an exception. On a lighter note, whether or not a prosecco is vegan depends on how it's made and what ingredients are used during its fining process. Unfortunately, some prosecco brands still use animal products - such as milk protein, fish oil, or egg whites during the fining process of their production, which makes them non-vegan.
Yep with wines it’s so hard to tell. In some restaurants they actually tell you which ones are vegan like how they do with food by adding the letters ‘VG’. If they don’t tell you I just go for whichever haha I’m not a strict vegan (yet)
