This video is about my tech school phase 1 experience. I graduated phase 1 in Aug of 2020 so I may have forgotten some things. COVID-19 was still a hot topic so none of what I went through is "business as normal." This is part 1 of a 2-part video mini-series. It’s hard & it seems impossible at first but it’s do-able. Just put in the time you need to study & have fun when you can.

I was surprised to hear that Aerospace Medic is the second largest AFSC (with the largest being Security Forces)

I can do a more in-depth video but I can tell you right now, skills were a struggle for me b/c I went into it nervous. I think I still have the books I used to study & I can show the apps I used as well. Make sure you’re subscribed so you can be notified when I post that video.

The EMT crash course book is great. Only $15.00 and well worth it. I studied that during lunch and it helps a ton.

I’m at FT sam rn. And it’s okay for the most part but it’s super strict and getting stricter.

I’m not surprised. They want to hold anyone in a medical position to a higher standard. If you’re a flight medic, you’ll hear that way more than you want too throughout the other 2 phases of training.

If you take the time to study, it’s doable. The instructors at Ft. Sam want you to pass & they will help, if asked. Group study sessions are helpful too.

How was the tech school for prior service and retrainees?

They got a lot more leniency than non prior service but they still had to wear mask & social distance. Non priors couldn’t socialize with prior service, when I was there & they were able to leave the base. It was very strict for 1st term airmen. Somethings may have changed.

It's a great choice. Join, Choose a job that translates to civilian, if you don't plan on retiring, finish your contract and you will have a great career as a civilian due to experience. Good luck!
