I mean it was technically I guess, but only because “Republicans” were the more “liberal” party at some point in electoral history. The states ideology didn’t change as much as the political party platforms did thought of course.
Not just any swing state; it would have been THE swing state every candidate cares about. NY was the most populous state, and thus had the most Electoral College votes of any state for most of the country’s history. If NY was competitive you would want to spend a lot of time and resources to get it.
No, not even close. All the cities in the state vote blue. Take nyc out and the dems still win because they have a stranglehold on cities like Albany, Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, ect. NYS republicans aren't very conservative either, they're dem lite
@@xavierengelin5932 upstate NY is actually losing population lol, the only reason why NY state's population still grows is because NYC's crazy growth, they already got 8m people living there but still grew ovee 8% in the last decade.
@@byunbaekhyun2283 yeah and when we leave who do you think in buying the property. The Hudson valley and lower Cap Region is absolutely full of people from the city. I actually live here and I’ve seen it happen over the years. It is happening and will continue to happen.
@@thememester23 After all Massachusetts and DC voted for George McGovern back then while Nixon on the other hand won the rest of the country in 1972 49 states to 1 state.
Just goes to show how upstate is held a political prisoner to new york city. We really need to split this state only thing that comes up state is the cities prisoners and bullshit laws everything goes down state
How about the way Maine and Nebraska do it? The winner in each congressional district gets an electoral vote, then the statewide winner gets an additional two electoral votes.
@@Dataj4535 polls now consistently have kamala harris above 58%, and she's still on the rise. so even if trump could make some gains, it'll be very limited to some NYC neighborhoods, particularly where the orthodox jews form a sizable minority.
He was Eisenhowers Vice President: 52-60. Republican Nixon lost narrowly to John Kennedy in 60 , then won the White House in 1968 , and reelected in 72 .
@@mannyislikethatshe was an elected representative from NY and should have ran up the score. She did worse than a generic democrat would have done. That’s how bad she was
You should take a look at Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton's Doomed Campaign For me, it definitely showed she would lose The only reason she ran was because "It's her turn" and that really blows. Bernie would've been an excellent President
latest poll average suggests otherwise, harris is predicted to win atleast 59% of the votes (including NYC). and her lead currently continues to grow, so it's possible that she'll win NY with more than 60% of the votes.
no thank you, even upstate new york dont like trump lmao, he just cant win a state where the urbanites DESPISED him while at the same time being disliked by the suburbanites and ruralites too. please don't be delusional.
