There have been many comments about one particular question in this quiz that involves the word 'east' that people are certain is wrong. It isn't. The answer is, however, counterintuitive. For an explanation of this, check out the 180° meridian line.
@@wokenpancake The Prime Meridian is the 0 degree line of longitude that stretches from the North Pole to the South Pole, passing through Europe and Africa on its way. The antimeridian sits on the opposite side of the planet i.e. the one related to this question.
Question 43 and 44 should be switched around. 43: Maine is the furthest state to the east and 44: Alaska is the furthest state to the west. Whoever had 100% correct, better check that again.
How much does QUIZ HUB know about the states of the USA? Apparently not as much as they think they do. At 13:19 Quiz Hub used a background photo of the Chicago skyline for the state of Michigan, apparently thinking the photo is of the Detroit skyline, which Detroit is in Michigan. Use that Chicago skyline photo for Illinois next time, as that's where Chicago is. Just a suggestion. ;)
4:45 100% accurate. While driving on the highway in West Virginia, someone in a van was driving with the sliding door all the way open and the right blinker on for the 4 miles we were near each other
Just curious why the picture for Texas is of the Grand Canyon? Seemed odd to me. And, not that it matters, but the 1812 Overture has nothing to do with the United States. The overture was written in 1880 by Russian composer Tchaikovsky to commemorate the successful Russian defense against Napoleon's invading Grande Armée in 1812. I mean, yea, it’s an ok piece, but I’ve always wondered why it’s played on the 4th of July or any other events to commemorate the US. Not sure…… buts it’s ok. I’m still looking into that whole thing of Alaska being the farthest east. I was always under the impression that the islands on the other side of the international date line still belonged to Russia, but I’m sure I’m probably wrong about that. Nice trick question. Still curious about Florida being hotter than Nevada too. Hmmm.
My thoughts, exactly. Surely Dvorak's From The New World is the most appropriate; or some of the great American composers' music. Colonel Bogey at the beginning???
I liked this but let me say... those were some pretty weird questions after #8 haha I was expecting history and geography, not... “who’s happy” 🤷♀️ sorry?? Haha
We don't know very much about Russia either. We'd have much better educational systems if scholars controlled the historical content and not governments. They tend to make it seem like everything is positive and they don't admit mistakes. That's a shame because it would actually make our countries stronger and better.
@@davidcruz8667 True. The International Date Line was amended in order not to separate politically coherent groups of islands. In geographical reality, though, the Aleutians stretch out to approx. 171°East.
@@inLmgb correct. Politically Alaska is included as part of the Western hemisphere. There are also a few areas down the International Date Line that have been adjusted to reflect main provenance.
Missed the first 11 'cause I was marching around the house with the kids....11-on we were conducting, waving french flags or doing our own silly dance interpretations..... smartest.. semi adult..12.. made us go through again and take notes...then....MORE MUSIC, DANCE.....naps....DINNER!!!... retest in am.....AND! HOMEMADE CANNONS!!! wish us luck🤪
47/50 🏅 Some of those were difficult... we don't think about those factors..like West Virginia ... nothing happy or good about how you feel there. I guess because you were formed illegally without the approval of Congress... Lincoln created you to get Union men and votes. He wanted to appoint governors to all states too.. ripping through the Constitution ...deporting freed people to Liberia Relocation Act....Oops...didn't learn that in school either. Yeah, I'd be mad.
@@kristenwhite2701 Thanks Kristen, the vast majority of Horseshoe falls are in Canada. So saying it is split is stretching it somewhat but I take your point.
@@kristenwhite2701 I can't argue with that. Perhaps the Canadian Armed Forces should just invade New York state and take say as far as Buffalo. Just think the Bills would become the first Canadian NFL team!
Alaska cannot be the furthest east AND the furthest west in the U.S. It is the furthest west, but, I believe that Maine is the furthest east. Also, what has the "1812 Overture" have to do with the U.S.? This work is written to honor a Russian victory. Nest time find some U.S. music to accompany your video.
I grew up with Irish immigrants in central northeastern PA. The Irish ☘️ were teachers, PD, FD, held public offices. The Irish taught Eastern Europeans, & others, how to speak English....with an Irish brogue! Beautiful people. My relatives married Irish colleens & ladies. We were/are Lithuanians. Marriages that lasted forever. St. Patrick’s Day was a holiday for adults & children, dances, parties, parades, picnics. When I was 6 years old, out teacher asked us kids personal questions for her records. She asked me what country my grandparents came from; my parents. I told her that I was Irish. She said that she was Irish, & I didn’t have an Irish name. I brought home a note from the teacher (best teacher ever), & my parents laughed, & asked me why I thought that way. I explained that daddy always sang songs about the Irish & Ireland. My dad was a volunteer FD, had mostly Irish friends, spoke with an Irish brogue/accent, so there was my answer. ERIN GO BRAUGH! (Ireland forever!) 🇮🇪 SU DIEVU, LIETUVA! (God be with you, Lithuania!) 🇱🇹
I didn’t do very well, but I definitely learned a lot! Most of the questions made say “Huh?” So... obviously I need to do some research! I loved the selection of music! 👍🏼 1812 Overture was a perfect choice for this video! Well done sir!!!
This would be a great quiz if you could actually see the answers. Only those with a red tint were readable. The black and white were impossible! I'll try it one more time. No score yet! jwb
Question 17 is wrong as of now, New Hampshire has less than half of the homicide rate of Vermont, which technically means that New Hampshire is the safest state.
Sorry that some of you think that Main is farthest East. Alaska is truly both farthest East and West. In the Aleutian Islands the western most island is farther West than the Western most part of Hawaii and the next island is across the International Date Line making it the Eastern most point in the US -- yes, still in Alaska.
