Google is a Monopoly. And so is Apple's App Store and the Microsoft Store. They can block everything at any time they want.

🎉 if 80% of the s&p 500 is owned by four organizations don't you think an antitrust legislation should be formed to break it down to be more competitive which would lower prices increase service.

If governments would ban lobbying, companies wouldn't be able to monopolize as easily as they do, but if we expect politicians to enact a law banning it, we're fooling ourselves. Power and greed are the American way!

This is mostly performative. Do you really think America would destroy one of its most profitable industries with the current state of world affairs going on? Google is one of the leaders in ai research and information gathering. There's no way Uncle Sam would risk weakening this global institution.

You don't know much history do you. The USA did this before in the 1980s when it destroyed some of the most profitable and important companies at the time in AT&T and IBM.

@@gregorybiestek3431 In the 1980s, no country in the world was anywhere near the US dominance in the tech industry so the government had the freedom to enforce anti-trust laws. Right now, the US has lots of competition and the world is in an arms race to secure the economy of the future. If the US breaks up these conglomerates, China will jump at the opportunity to fill in that void because they are perfectly willing to pour state subsidies into creating and enforcing monopolies.
