Hey Zaki, with the 710d we had it right in the middle of tube and transistor. Also, the Apollo 8 and Apollo Twin use the same mic preamps. Thanks for commenting!

I never had a 710 but had a golden age pre 73 and a warm audio comp and I happy with the sound, I loved the sound. But I had a crappy interface it was a old firewire 410 from 2007ish so I figured I would get the apollo twin just so I could get fantasizing over UAD plugins finally. It came with the neve 1073 unison pre with a promotion, and I got the la 2a gray for half price, and I had a intense week of vocal recording in my studio and I was so blown away by how clean it sounded that I sold all my outboard gear. The 1073 unison and the la 2a gray(not the legacy one) is my go to for vocals, you don't gain or lose MUCH with UAD or hardware. Add the fact that the plugs are cheaper, you get way more instances, and portable, its a no brainer. The only way to know really is to get both and test, unless you'll be wondering forever

PS using a two layer pop shield and I have enough space around the mic to stop reflections, I also tried a Reflexion filter on it but no change. Any advice is most appreciated.

That's a really nice computer you have there, it should easily handled most of what you throw at it. The Apollo interfaces will be doing most of the heavy lifting when it comes to using UA plugins. There are really only two questions you need to answer to help you decide what interface you want. How many inputs do you want and how many processors do you want in your interface? Once you answer those, we can easily get you headed in the right direction!

thanks for your reply , i just got a pair of the JBL LSR 308, 8 input will be fine for a start, as for the processor looking at 2, do i need the UAD-2 satellite thunderbolt?
