I have been waiting 20 days for my background check to come back. I have a super common name. every time I have ever purchased a firearm they made me wait 20 to 26 days. the very last time I attempted to purchase a firearm they didn't return my approval until 43 days later. which at that point I had to reapply for the firearm all over again because Dunham's only gives you 30 days. even with my Upin. I am getting so sick of this government. it almost makes me want to just go and buy a firearm from your local drug dealer. but I'm not. the ATF needs to get there BS together. right now I am currently waiting on a background check that I applied for 2 weeks ago. this is just ridiculous.
What state are you in? This video talks in detail about delays: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8dVnrqtAxEo.html The state you live in will really help me give some guidance.
@@Gunner411 Absolutely. To OP, it definitely depends on what state you’re in. I went through it myself a few months ago. I had to get my records straightened out with them because they are behind in updating their system with the corrected information and also applied for a UPIN. I live in Arkansas and there’s no waiting periods just the federal background check and my first purchase was delayed and denied. Same as you, I have a very common name and that tends to be the case for a lot of first time and long time Gun buyers. But once I got the upin, it went straight through. Don’t get discouraged I know it’s frustrating but make sure you’re right is not being falsely infringed upon. Good luck.
www.atf.gov/rules-and-regulations/permanent-brady-permit-chart That site says something about a permit for a pistol allowing the NICS to be bypassed. Not sure exactly what that permit is in Michigan. If you already have a UPIN, I’d be curious if the FFL actually put it in when they submitted the background check. You may be able to call with your NTN (NICS transaction number, from the FFL) and your UPIN and see
