I was given a 3 year award after winning my tribunal. Filled in my Review Form with the help of my local independent advice service who deal with benefits, housing, debts etc. I had my Review in Feb this year. I had a phonecall out of the blue by a DWP decision maker, interview was ten minutes, he said i wouldn't need an assessment. My mobility component was increased to enhanced, still standard for daily living. Ongoing award, with a light Touch review in ten years.

It’s worth putting in for it as I didn’t think I would be eligible but was awarded and it’s helped me so much, I was able to get equipment I needed and it pays for a cleaner and gardener, I cannot do these tasks very easily

Its kind of creepy. I only had my assessment over the phone yesterday afternoon,then your video was the first suggestion on RU-vid this morning. I have C.O.PD ,Type 1 diabetes, manic depression,hypertension,D.V.T,s and more. The assessment was very stressful im just glad its over...for now.

The problem many people have is how they write out the forms. You should always...ALWAYS! Fill it out in detail and describe what you're like on your worst day. Prescription lists, reports from GP's, support workers e.t.c as well will increase your chances massively.

I was diagnosed with epilepsy late in life (57) in 2016, it took over one year to get PIP after having to appeal. Since then I’ve had osteoarthritis and diagnosed with fibromyalgia and then my right kidney got blocked and failed crippling me for over 2 years before being diagnosed. I recently had the kidney removed and it had an immediate effect on my health, for the better I might add. But trying to pursue my claim for ESA is another problem and I am awaiting my tribunal after waiting over 2 years to resolve. The DWP have been obstructive throughout the whole process, especially the health assessment. They didn’t like the outcome of my first 9 wand forced me to go through another one which rejected my claim.

U can get PIP even without a diagnosis, its always how the condition (whatever it is) effects your daily life, but yes terminal conditions can qualify you for PIP, but I've known of people with less than a year to live, but still didn't get anything, even when the condition was definitely affecting them daily... The DWP will do anything not to pay; the mandatory reconsideration and tribunal are more than not the steps most have to go through to get anything.
@StuartMcGoo
@StuartMcGoo 9 месяцев назад
Yes this is true, its about how it effects you not what it is or whether you have a specific diagnosis - however it must be something that has been presented to your GP at least. If it's not recorded on medical records then you won't be able to evidence it.

Always love your content and videos Stu. May I suggest, that when doing a video, you put a list of questions to skip to in the description. It would be a lot easier for people to skip to the appropriate questions they require. Thank you so much for all your support❤

I'm already claiming ESA but always wondered if I can get PIP as well? Im constantly paying for Taxis to get to GP and psychiatrist appointments as i have no other support. I also have alcohol problems as well depressive and anxiety issues. Im honestly too scared to even apply for PIP in case it ruins my ESA claim. It really shouldn't have to be this way
@StuartMcGoo
@StuartMcGoo 9 месяцев назад
PIP and ESA are separate presently so the outcome of one won't effect the other but that will change in 2026 so it might be better to do it now than then. Find one to one support with your claim from a local support service before you begin as it will make it easier

Are you under the guidance of a recovery centre near you?If so,I know there’s an organisation that specifically helps people in recovery from drug &/or alcohol problems.The one local to me has a 100% success rate of appealing pip claims for people with substance abuse problems.Otherwise,citizens advice bureau will help you fill in the forms as they know how to write out these forms properly.

Yes you can apply for PIP on ESA you will not lose your ESA it's a different benefit. I'm claiming both.

I have a question 🙋‍♀️ I’m currently on esa support group and pip. I also get child tax credits and have received a letter from Hmrc tax credits to say that they will be sending me a form to complete to switch to universal credit due to tax not being paid direct through Hmrc anymore. What should I do to prepare for this? Will there be a gap in payments on the switch over? Also, will everything be switched over to UC or just tax credits? I’m very anxious about this.
@StuartMcGoo
@StuartMcGoo 9 месяцев назад
Good question and will form part of my next FAQ video. You will get transitional Protection so you should stay in the equivalent group and receive the same money but there may be a delay in your payments as UC works on a 5 week cycle in the first month.

Stu I'm applying for pip again. But the criteria hasn't changed much?
@pompeysalz2976
@pompeysalz2976 8 месяцев назад
I put in for pip after being informed directly by the nurse who oversaw my medical for dwp that I should get pip due to my illnesses classing me as disabled.I have failed twice now,being awarded a grand total of zero points due to the fact that when was interviewed I couldn’t remember anything,which in turn kicked off an anxiety episode which had me clamming up and unable to speak.I cannot recommend enough that you should ALWAYS either photocopy your pip or esa forms,or make notes or even ask if you can record the interview for your own future reference and to listen over in case you have to appeal.There’s no reason why you will be denied permission to do this.Even if you are awarded the benefits you applied for,still keep the notes for your next application-you’ll need it!!

@SuperMarion61

Why are you only able to claim Attendance Allowance, once you’ve reached pension age? As far as I know you can keep your PIP, if you’re still getting it at that age?
@StuartMcGoo
@StuartMcGoo 8 месяцев назад
It's one or the other, not both, so if you applied for AA when you already have PIP, it would be turned down.

The thing is, a lot of people are eligible, but get zero points on assessment. Then you have the added stress and the waiting to go to tribunal. That list is misleading.
@theressomelovelyfilthdownh4329
@theressomelovelyfilthdownh4329 9 месяцев назад
That's how the system is set up. It's designed to make getting ESA/PIP as awkward/stressful as possible. I just spent 14 months fighting an appeal, and another two months still waiting on my backdated money after winning. All based on a 10min phone call, neither they nor the DWP bothered turning up. Still waiting on my money, 16 months into the worst cost of living criss in living memory. What they did do was remove the last paragraph from the assessment, which got me moved into the ESA support group. The section which said I should be assessed in 18 months because there was scope for improvement if I got the professional help I needed. Help I'm still waiting on over three years later. Right before my first tribunal, the judge sent the clerk of the court out to tell me I had a case against Atos if I so wished. Then she introduced me to the woman sitting right beside me in the waiting room. Who was the only person from the DWP I have ever seen show up for any of my PIP/ESA tribunals. When I'd finished having my say, they asked her if she had anything she'd like to add on behalf of the DWP. She just looked at the floor and shook her head. They just want to piss off. When I was trying to give some context to a reply to a question. One assessor said, "listen here, I just want to get this form filled in". That is not acceptable from a supposed medical professional. They have also lied about me being on time, and have all the proper ID etc for an interview.

I was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome and on esa in the support group, and had to get a mandatory reconstruction, then a successful appeal. Would that wotk if I used all the evidence from my appeal? Can you do a video P l ease, and it affects me by me not being confident around people I dont kniw, they can take it out of me etc
@StuartMcGoo
@StuartMcGoo 9 месяцев назад
Much of the evidence you used for ESA will need to be used for PIP and you will have to resubmit it as they don't share it between departments
