I absolutely love "Bride of Frankenstein". The scene between the monster and the blind person is just so heart wrenching and amazing.

Frankenstein is by far my favourite Universal monster movie. I love German expressionism and you can really tell director James Whale was inspired by German movies from the silent era like The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari. The contrast heavy chiaroscuro lighting really pops in HDR. Love it!

'The Wolf Man' is my absolute Universal horror film as it was the first ever horror film I saw. The absolute sympathy you can feel for Larry Talbot is immaculate and so strong with Lon Chaney Jr.'s performance, he's fantastic.

I agree with you. What did you think about the re-make with Benicio Del Toro in the role of Larry Talbot? I thought it was dismal and his character was unlikeable so much that in the end, I didnt care what happened to him. The special effects and CGI however ever stunning, but effects cant save a bad script. The script for the original was outstanding, I really felt bad for poor Larry Talbot and could feel the helpless pain he was going through.

The first 2 Frankenstein movies are my personal favorites because of how well they work together as one story. They both take separate elements from Mary Shelley's book to make a solid double bill while also managing to work as a pair of standalone movies that are still quite scary, (or maybe that's because I first watched them at such a young age lol)

My favorite has to be Creature from the Black Lagoon. Saw it when I was very young and it blew my mind that a movie that old could still be so scary and entertaining. That underwater photography is still so striking!

I watched the whole first volume this year, and I was most impressed with the Invisisble Man. It really impressed me how well the special effects were then already. And the 4K transfer of that film was amazing.

The Wolf Man is by far my favorite Universal monster movie due to how well it's aged. So many movies nowadays, including most psychological thrillers play the "Is this real or all in his head?" card, but this film does that so well and is also over 80 years old. But nobody addresses how deep the film is and how well the wolf man works as a mindf*ck movie. While also not forgetting to be a great & scary monster film that still feels fresh to this day.

I have a distinct memory of being real young (honestly probably too young) watching The Wolf Man with my grandpa in his movie room. I was so scared I spent most of the movie buried in his chest. The transformation scene blew my tiny mind. The next day I walked up to my grandpa during breakfast and asked if we could watch it again. That movie and the Wolf Man have been my favorite ever since

Creature from the Black Lagoon is my favorite! I was so impressed seeing the underwater sequences for the first time. It blew my mind to think how they were able to do such stunning shots given the camera limitations back then. Definitely a technical achievement for film media.

My favorite is, "The Bride of Frankenstein". The way it starts, with the "origin story" of the original tale and all of the Gothic trappings, is masterful. However, the most outstanding thing in the movie, and one that has, perhaps, never been equaled, is Elsa Lanchester's iconic look. With an incredibly short amount of screen time, the dress designer, the makeup and hair artist, the director and cinematographer, and, of course, the actress, managed to give us a brand new "monster" for the ages.

I prefer Hammer's "Horror of Dracula". Btw 1930s Dracula is in the beginning a real masterpiece. I like the gothic scenery in Transalvania and in the castle. But when the story change the setting to London it bcomes more and more boring. My opinion. Nevertheless I have bought a copy of Tod Browning's movie. As about Universal Horror I prefer the first three Frankensteins...Never mentioned in a chat that studio head Carl Laemmle sen. grandfather lived in my village in Germany. I seem to remember that he was a rabbi here

It has to be The Wolf Man for me. Great casting of Lon Chaney, Jr. and Claude Rains, steeped in folklore and mystery, with a human story and a lot of sadness in Chaney's Larry Talbot. It's also set in a Never Never Land that's encapsulates numerous identities and cultures into one. And it's just great fun.

Being a huge fan of the Universal monsters, I actually am drawn most to Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. You have the top three popular monsters (along with a surprise cameo from the Invisible Man) doing what they do while introducing us to that trickiest of genres- the horror comedy. Also, there's the great treat of having Bela Lugosi back in his trademark role. There's great laughs, a few chills and pure entertainment from beginning to end. A brilliant addition to the Monster canon.

So far, out of all the Universal Monster films I've seen, The Bride of Frankenstein is my favorite. The whole blind man scene is perfect all around.

The first film I remember watching in full with my dad was The Wolf Man. I found my favorite actor in that film too Claude Rains. My dad has always been a big Universal Monster fan and from a very young age I was introduced to Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff & Lon Chaney Jr. and honestly the biggest payoff was watching Young Frankenstein and not having to learn about all the references Mel Brooks was making 😂I had done my homework without even knowing it. Such an amazing feeling! We had replica masks in our living room and of course various posters (1sheets, 3sheets, window cards, lobby cards) all still in our collection today :) - Thank you for doing a review of this series, if I don't win I'll be picking it up so we can update our collection and watch them together again!

Bride of Frankenstein is my favorite Universal Monster movie because of it being more faithful to the book. It’s more emotional than the first and you really feel for the characters. The Bride’s design is also iconic and the monster is given more personality.

The Wolfman, Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein, and Son of Frankenstein are my favorite films of the Universal Classic Monsters series. Not only are these beautiful movies, but you feel the plight that these characters are going through, pretty much to the point where you’re rooting for the monsters. Larry Talbot and Frankenstein’s Monster didn’t choose their fate, as their fate was thrust upon them, and we’re all along for the ride. I’d rather go with the motions of the entire Universal Classic Monsters film library, then going through some cheap jump scares and tons of blood that most of today’s horror movies value. Thank you for thorough review.

This is the type of classic horror films I love. This one is a pickup. 🧌 The Creature From Black Lagoon really pops in the difference from 1080P to 4K. Wow! My favorite Monster movie from Universal if you count it is Van Helsing! Because it has a bunch of the monsters in it. If you don’t count that, I would say Frankenstein is very hard to beat, but all of the monster movies from the very first Universal released. Up to the modern ones are awesome. As for my favorite Universal monster, I was initially going to pick Peter Jackson's King Kong (it was a personal favorite as a kid), but I'm going to be honest, the Gillman from Creature from the Black Lagoon has become an all time favorite. I love the design so much! Also, we all know the movie, and particularly the monster, was and still is a huge influence on my favorite director working today, Guillermo del Toro. Not only "The Shape of Water", or on "Hellboy", but just in his constant desire to make things feel and look real; his fascination with creatures which are then turned into costumes or make-up designs for his movies has everything to do with Creature from the Black Lagoon in my view.

My favorite Universal monster classic is "The Wolf Man" (1941). It does what most modern werewolf films don't do; make their werewolf a hybrid of man and wolf instead of just turning into a larger Wolf. I also like how the film explores the subject of Lycanthropy; how the characters in the film question the fantasy vs science on the Werewolf lore. Is it all in Talbot's mind or is he really becoming a beast; of course we the audience know better, LOL. The transformation effect was ahead of its time and inspired future Directors/Special Effects experts to take things further like in John Landis' "An American Werewolf in London." Also Lon Chaney Jr. has the distinct honor like Robert England has to Freddy Kruger; to be the only actor to portray the Wolf Man in all the Universal films (not counting remakes)

The idea of this prodigal son returning home and trying to mend his relationship with his father, and then through a wrong place/wrong time circumstance essentially having his life shattered is so tragic. It also helps to make Larry probably the most identifiable protagonist in any of the Universal films.

Frankenstein is my favorite. Granted, I have only seen some of them. But, I love the heart that James Whale and Karloff put into the character.

"The Black Cat" is probably my favorite Universal horror film. It's on Blu ray but from transfer sources that are a bit distant from the negative...which almost certainly no longer exists. It's a wild film, dark and ominous.

Dracula is by far my favorite. That film as a kid helped get me into horror and all I could do is just consume more and more. Bella Lugosi is just pure genius with what he did with that role and to the genre in general. Thanks for the chance to win!

My favourite Universal Monster movie is actually The Mummy’s Hand. It’s so short but it’s so much fun and never gets old.

The Invisible Man is the one I enjoy most. It's very different than the other monster films and Claude Rains voice brings so much to the character.
