I’d say the fact they spoke about the level of positive feedback being unlike anything they’ve seen previously as them even more excited than the general public are. The amount of hype this has…they would be crazy not to go ahead now.

Going by their expressions they’re absolutely convinced, the fact they mentioned how they’ve not seen such an overwhelmingly positive reaction in over ten years say a LOT. They 100% have already told their bosses to push forward with this project!

I think it’s already a dead cert behind the scenes tbh, they’re going ahead. Plans will be submitted this year. This has been discussed behind closed doors for a long time, there’s no rumours of a plan B site within Europe. This is where they want to build.

@@JPA65 I agree, I think this is a courteous charm offensive from Universal but its all done. They said they would present their proposal to the government but no government will turn down this level of investment in their infrastructure. Doing everything so publicly convinces me it's done,, this will have been years in the planning , working alongside local authorities. But as the original comment stated I don't think the UK population will need much convincing I'm beyond excited

Having given more presentations in my life than I've had hot dinners, I felt their pain during the "please stare at us while you watch this video that seems to play for 2 hours behind us while we look around awkwardly" moment haha. THOSE ARE ARCHAEOLOGICAL TRENCHES! This is very positive, as part of the planning process is archaeological evaluation as well as well as environmental. I'm an archaeologist so will find out details. The red flags mark small bore holes to test the level of the water table or to have a look at the geological make up. This is so exciting!!!

Great video. I'm a local resident and was at the engagement event yesterday too. There's so much positivity from the local population which is great to see. If this doesn't go ahead I can't see it being because of local resentment. The improvements to the local infrastructure and job opportunities will be massive for the local area.

That was a complete farce from the beginning. I don’t know why anyone actually thought it would happen. THIS is how it should be done, like Shawn mentioned, no flashy presentations filled with concepts, just a straight forward approach that is taking the time to understand what benefits the area has and what more they can bring to it. Very much a far more professional and business oriented approach, ensuring everyone is on board then put in the hard work to get it done! And with a huge name like Universal they know they can absolutely deliver on everything they promise too.

That guy really stuck his neck out saying he wants to see the trains from London to Bedford filled up in the mornings during the rush hours. For one of Universal's top guys to say that I'm guessing that they're quietly confident that the project gets the go ahead and it's greenlighted within a year from now. I'm glad this guy covered this event even when it didn't disclosed no new details from it but it's good to see a corp of this size engaging about this project with the locals.

Rumours are they’re making the decision in June. Just depends on when they tell people but I’d expect it to be quick judging by how fast this has already progressed. I think they’ve already made up their mind tbh.

The thought that we could have a Universal resort in Britain is beyond exciting. The local community seems pretty enthusiastic. My personal opinion is this has already been approved. In this country the government are very generous to film studios and have already approved plans for paramount film studios to buy an abandoned ship yard in Sunderland to make movies in. Our governments Labour or Tory are very keen to get film studios on side.

Obviously there is a lot of positive response here but I'm curious to see what the critical views are like as well. Notice the frequent Jurassic references… could be reading too much in to this, but seems like that IP is being seriously considered for our park. This is just so exciting.

I'd guess something from the Jurassic ip for sure. It's an ongoing franchise with Scralet Johanssen attached to the next movie by director Gareth Edwards (Rogue, The Creator) expected to release next year. Makes sense to push an active IP that they actually own instead of another legacy property they have to license from a competitor, and it just seems like there's still so many options to represent the franchise in theme parks, beacuse to the variety of creatures and locations, without repeating attractions.

Obviously it’s a massive IP, it goes without saying that JP/JW will be represented. Harry Potter, Mario, Transformers, Despicable Me/Minions and even James Bond (which I don’t think they’ve ever included previously but absolutely could in a big way here) are all things that absolutely should be included too.

There's a good chance i'll have some (albeit minor) involvement in the project should it go ahead, from the piling stage straight through to completion. It's very rare for a project of this magnitude to have such positive feedbacks at this stage but what a great job these 2 guys heading up the presentation did. Extremely informative and personable. One of the ways you can tell they’re truly set on this project is that they sent bigwigs to do the presentation rather than lower level executives. It’s nice to hear them saying all the right things, rather than forcing their way through like Disney does. If it is true that 50% of management in Universal Orlando comes from upward mobility then they certainly treat their employees better than most theme park chains. Also, I bet at least some of CityWalk is planned to be themed to a brickworks.

I’m so excited to this. Like many parents it is my dream to take my son to a universal park. However, unfortunately due to my son’s autism he would not tolerate the long flight. So this is extremely special to me as would mean I can give my son that experience right on our door step ❤ I hope it goes ahead. I’m so excited about all these updates, I’ve even put in some feedback on things I’d love to see. One thing I did just check is the length of time the journey would be for me, and it’s definitely a LOT more than 2 hours (around 6 hours by car and just over 8 hours by train) so I’m curious if they’re transport developments will drastically shorten this as this will definitely help encourage returning visitors from folk travelling outside of England itself. Having heard the presentation I think I’ll put in a few more suggestions…

Really hope they come to Bedford , I’m in Ireland and would def travel to visit a universal park 🤩 fabulous for uk economy as well many many jobs will be created
