To say Father Ross was one of the greatest people in the Church I have ever met would be an understatement. He inspired me to not only take on a Theology minor during my time at Bonaventure, but also take my faith more seriously. It is obviously easy for college students to lose their way in faith, but Fr. Ross was always approachable and relatable, which inspired a lot of students I knew to reclaim their Catholic faith (including me). I think he realizes that sometimes a non traditional route is more effective for younger people. I realize that may be hard for older people to understand since they cannot relate well to the younger generation, but I can’t deny how effective he is. He truly is an ideal Franciscan and Catholic.

Thank you Br Casey for bringing back this series! It's great to see the diversity of roles that the friars serve in their communities.

For me Fr. Ross embodies the passage (not quoted directly) which says God created the world and saw that it was good. Not a Jansenistic bone in his body. Those younger viewers here might not have felt the dark, cold and lifeless shadow of Jansenism in their lives, but growing up in Australia in the late 50's and 60's I can tell you it put me in therapy. Thank you for this video, Br. Casey; it's given me a smile to wear all day.

Wow... We were good friends in Jr. High. We lost touch when we ended up at different high schools as kids do at that age. Funny enough, I went to Catholic high school, he went to the public... and he turned out becoming a priest. Life takes interesting turns sometimes. He was such a great, nice, and really funny kid back then. It's probably been over 30yrs since I've seen him and it's awesome to see him now. Way to go man. I know some day my Gram will welcome you home and thank you for being a great friend.

Im puzzled about the cigar smoking. As a Catholic I find it a bit contradicting. Fr Casey Cole, would you be so kind as to clarify?

It's not a sin to smoke or drink , gluttony is a sin so a 50 pack a day habit is another thing altogether

Wow lavish life, young people should opt for a career in theology instead of other careers! Religion has become business rather than service. Have you ever lived in poverty like St. Francis?

4:48 So, Franciscans leave the band on their cigars, do they? Talk about a life of sin.

Wow, that's definitely not the sort of spiritual director that would help me. I'm really surprised. I'm sure he is popular and does great things for the guys and Christ. Always good to see things like this... But yeah... Sports, cigars, gangster-attitudes and pizza in abundance; omg, I'm off to the Dominicans hahaha Great video Father! Keep them coming very inspirational. :-)

You might wanna check the CCC. Smoking in itself is not a sin. It’s the abuse and overuse of tobacco that’s a sin.

Smoking cigar while listening to the confession is not a good gesture. You're persona Christa so behave yourself. You've left the teachings and traditions of St. Francis as well as of Christ. Today we have reading from St.John 14:21-26. May God help you to follow him.
@BreakingInTheHabit

And you're not a sinner either? If anything, this friar shows how human the Franciscans are, and that's a particular gift in Franciscan spirituality.

Brother Casey is generally a great guy and I was a fully supportive subscriber and certainly interested interested in learning about Franciscan life. Turns out both Casey and the featured "friars" in this video and the Jamaican one encourage sinful frequent practices, but the "friar" in this video also facilitates (by providing substances to college kids) the sinful frequent practice of smoking. Who knew that Franciscans would join the list of people I NEVER want to be like??!!!!! Not to mention pushing away people who aren't interested in second-hand smoke at their place of work and/or at home or hanging out. What a terrible example of religious life, Jesus-following life, and freedom from sinful life. Jesus calls us to more than this.
@nicksteven1112
