Offering personal reflections and explanations from a Catholic and Franciscan perspective for Christians who want to become a better disciples of Jesus Christ and discern their vocation.
Thanks again for a great video. I constantly see TV and movies getting liturgical colors wrong. The same thing with military uniforms (a young modern era soldier with a WWI ribbon?) Yep, they need to give you a call. Peace!
The Catholic Church has been around since year 33 when Jesus walked on the Earth 2000 years ago I’m broke in history the protestants it’s only been around for 500 years so that makes the Catholic Church the one true church
Render due benevolence to thy wife as the weaker vessel. Addressing this, getting husbands to realize a woman is generally no where as strong as a man, where if husbands consider their wife, taking out the trash could make relationships so much better.
Im trying to be religious and spiritual. I never suffered so much in my life. Spirituality is finding you own way towards God. Religion is forcing things on you, because its the right thing to do.
I once saw a family guy episode where Peter got communion and he said “thank you, father” and it blew my mind how they didn’t even know what you’d actually say
Well-presented. In general, Christians are always portrayed wrongly. One of our local Catholic churches used to be open 24/7, until a few years ago when the building was remodeled. (Also, the stained glass windows are almost priceless.)
Fratello, There's a "rule" when Hollywood uses Military Uniforms that something has to be wrong about it - so as to not confuse folks = perhaps the same thing applies here, ain't no subsitution for teh real thing,
So you admit that there is no evidence that God exists but you find it beautiful to believe in him therefore he exists?😂 It’s like saying that yes, you are aware that you can’t say for sure that the God you believe in exists but you still do because it feels good. I can say that I believe in Santa because it’s nice to believe he exists but does he?🤷🏻♂️
When I lived in Southampton, the church wasn't open 24/7, but a fair few hours every day, the Blessed Sacrament would be exposed, and people signed on to do an hour (or more) every week, to sit with it in prayer. Some of the best hours of the week. It's wild how easy it would be for people making this stuff to find out the facts - a lot of the stuff they get wrong is so basic! How much more interesting would their jokes be, if they accurately went with things, and riffed off that? Made a conscious choice for a vestment colour, perhaps cause someone's colour blind, which leads to shenanigans? If something is intentional and purposeful, it's just so much better.
The challenge is more conservatives taking it upon themselves to determine who is cut off than God’s genuine, unconditional love for all of creation. It is abjectly evil to tell a child of God they are cut off from God because their intrinsic nature. It is not our place to judge but to love.
Trust Father Casey Cole to clip "What Dreams May Come" and "this is the end" back-to-back. Two of my pleasantest guilty pleasures. Next top seven: Top Seven Sacraments ordained by God
Agree with all of that, although if I learned anything as an archaeologist with an additional interest in historical fashion it´s that "carefully considered props, set and costume" does absolutely not mean "did any actual research". Often the source for a decision seems to be "everyone knows this" with everyone being the last 25 movies that also got it wrong. That said the order of the mass example is especially hilarious - what do you mean the Sanctus is said by a priest? The priest is the one saying something about the choirs of the angels (hope that´s the right translation, not a native speaker) and then that´s my cue as a choir member to reach for my folder and find the right page. Or if I´m not on duty, get the songbook - that´s how that works!
( ´-ω-) It's not moral for God to put evidence of himself in the biology. The atheists were tricked into exploring that and they found no evidence of God in the biology. Now that it's been explored we can do disclosure now. They think everything is worth doing once. This is an exceptional planet that explored everything possible but it gave us problems that most planets don't experience. People are lost in a dead universe and it makes bad outcomes. Disclosure will solve all our problems.
( ´-`) Natural selection is the character flaw in evil that is integrity is more important than life otherwise evolution is tragic circumstances with nothing intelligent happening. Almost everyone survive until they reproduce. Nothing is getting selected except for the character flaw in evil. I found a replacement for the character flaw in evil that I liked but God makes me forget things that will cause me trouble.
X-< Waves are conservation of anarchy that makes anarchy intelligent so it does no harm. Only a created universe can conserve anarchy. Theory of relator that not made public yet is a theory of anarchy that can change waves so you can make love on the guitar instead of crying. People will feel affection again and become nonviolent and civilized. Child abuse corrupts affection. If theirs an easy remedy for corrupted affection they will stop Child abuse because it will be a risky waste of time. Theory of relator is the last big science idea. Too much science will have us lost forever. We can be endlessly creative with only that.
"Why does God allow suffering?" You speak only from the perspective of humans. God created a whole animal kingdom where one animal kills and eats the other. Some eat their pray alive, while others inject a venom that disolves the intestines. Let's not forget that humans too are carnivorous. So why did God intentionally made this decision?
I would like to see your explanation of dying and being judged right away or you stay dead and unaware until the coming of our Lord to be judged then. I've heard priests explain it both ways. Which one is right and which one is wrong? Or can the Catechism be referenced on this? Thanks for the vids. always interesting.
I always found kind of weird that in Angels and Demons, where there is a papal election, in less than the first 12 hours of the conclave the cardinals have voted like 4 times and are already desperate because no one has been elected.
“This is not in question, and I have no interest in challenging it” This pretty much sums up the reason the Catholic Church and Christianity in general is becoming quite irrelevant these days. The inability, or lack of willingness to challenge beliefs about God and what God “thinks” about a given topic is a stance that really has no place in a civilized society. As we learn more from science and become more rational human beings, and consequently less superstitious, this type of answer is simply unjustifiable.
I am an atheist and really liked your video, very well put and politely spoken and spoken quite logically for the most part. Keep up the good work ! :D
One more: The overall confusion between vows of chastity, clerical celibacy and basic catholic morals, e.g. a parish priest turning down sexual advances because of his "vows".
Screenwriters (understandably) have a hazy notion on who can pull rank on whom and give what kind of orders. In movieland it sometimes seems as if anyone with a bigger hat can order people around any way he seems fit, disregarding jurisdiction, proper procedure ...
The thing that annoys me most about how catholic are portrayed in movies is all our babies are colicky and we have no clue how to deal with it. See the Godfather. Every time Tony's wife is in the scene with a baby the child is screaming its head off. Holywood loves to show the negative side of raising children.
When I was young -- 1940s through 1960s -- in my experience Catholic Churches were always open durng the daytime and I believe at night as well. We just walked in. Open churhes were a distinguishing feature of the faith. Ir saddens me that this is no longer true but I understand the reasons.
Does tracing Catholic and Orthodox priests back to Jesus make it the one “True” Church in doctrine and therefore more accurate to the teachings of Jesus though? Paul had to address serious issues in the early church less than 100 years after the resurrection of Jesus. In that context what traditions and teachings of the church are necessary or important to Christ? Matt. 28:19-20 calls all men to be disciples, so why does lineage of ordination make a difference?
QUESTION, Father: Is it REALLY a sin,.... IF, ....as a single Catholic male, I have done it, from time to time, with the sole fantasy of ONLY being with my DECEASED wife, with whom we both had a VERY PASSIONATE RELATIONSHIP TOGETHER!... Does that STILL make me a MORTAL SINNER? My wife was my ALL AND MY EVERYTHING,... and I have NO INTENTION WHATEVER of ever marrying again, but desire to ONLY be with my stunning wife FOREVER MORE in my next life! My tears NEVER STOP in sorrow!!
Whenever I think of nuns, the first thing that comes to mind is a stern woman, caught up in the old ways, that cannot bear different ideas. When I stop to think a bit more, I remember the kind and strict enough nun that thought me religion and catechism at school. I once fell asleep during catechism while sitting in the first row, she softly kicked my foot so I’d wake up then made a kind joke about being bored before reminding all of us the importance of the sacrament of confirmation. I remember her kindly
