S48 LOSERS’ TABLE Thanks to their late flurry of correct responses, King's have a more comfortable hold on the last loser's spot, although one more bonus could have put them in a three-way tie with Exeter and Hertford - Oxford. The 110 points of Queen's - Belfast predictably did not hold up, as they are now officially eliminated. I am not aware of the tie-breaking protocol on UC, so I can't say for sure which of Exeter and Hertford - Oxford is now guaranteed a spot in the next round. 175 Emmanuel - Cambridge ------------------- 150 Exeter 150 Hertford - Oxford 145 King’s - London ------------------- 110 Queen’s - Belfast 105 York 90 SOAS 75 Pembroke - Oxford 75 Sidney Sussex - Cambridge 55 London - Institute in Paris 55 Strathclyde 50 Pembroke - Cambridge
You're a "barbarian," maryan c; many educated Brits will pronounce the "j" as "jay," not as the Spanish would pronounce the "j" ("hota"). The French, likewise, pronounce it as it is written as if it were French; hence, "Don Z-uan." "Ca ce pronounce comme ca, c'est ecrit." (Apologies; I can't add accent marks.)
Many thanks for the fast upload. Walker was impressive! I thought this was a well-paced, exciting game and the win was well-deserved. It'll be fun to see the winners in the second round.
Walker is a great player, but I think I'm in love with Jones from King's (based on appearance only, I don't understand lots of their questions) Still interesting to watch intelligence shines though. Very good show.
I'd say philosophy was my specialist subject, so I like it when they are really hard. These answers... Hobbes, Kant and Aristotle, at least one of them should have been tricky. For example, which philosopher was born in Aberdeenshire in 1710, and a member of the Scottish School of Common Sense, perhaps best known for his critique of Locke's theory of personal identity?
@@sassymedea3065 Yeah, it's basically a 50/50 question as there are only 2 Scottish philosophers you will get on UC (if you throw out Adam Smith as a Philosopher). I was thinking of Thomas Reid. (1710-1796)
Didn't want UCL to win at first, because Coldplay etc. But they won me over. I'm writing this on pause with 5 min to go. What a match! (btw I think this is the first time I've ever commented on a UC vid... As I say, great match!)
Is it generally agreed that gentle mockery of reasonable but funny behavior like smacking one's forehead for missing a David Bowie question is Paxman's way of flirting with the pretty contestants? I kind of get that vibe.
Every year there are certain female contestants he seems to take a liking to, perhaps a bit expected given his age. And I always get a wry smile from him overtly admiring Woodland's rear end in last year's final. Male contestants can expect some ire if they stuff up unexpectedly!
Disclaimer: Pretty hungover when writing this ... :/ A decent match with evenly matched teams. UCL 10 starters, Walker 5 (the Americans are killing it this season :), Mitkov 4 (+1 penalty), Johnstone 1, Hopefully Fang improves his buzzer skills for R2 as he should have got some of the Science starters that Tsang got, both being their teams' Science reps. Bonus conversion rate 57%, full houses on 'blobitecture' and 'pregnancy', much to Heath's chagrin, I think ;P King's-L 8 starters, Tsang 5 (4 science refs), Chater 2, Jones 1. Bcr on par with UCL at 59%. Full houses on 'Rock bands', 'Lit' & 'Lanthanide elements'. Hopefully #13 & #14 pick up the pace! Last season, I found my fave team and contestant in #14, when Merton's Wiberg almost single-handedly crushed King's-L 285:110.
No longer. Women are actors not actresses just as there are no doctoresses or lawyeresses. This has been a definite change since, at least, early 80s. Please do catch up sister.
Selection criteria includes not just smarts, but 'diversity' as well, as Fang and Tsang's (who got 4 science starters to his credit), prescence indicate, yet they don't mention where they are from 'originally', as overseas students usually do?
They obviously speak English as a mother tongue, same thing with Mitkov whose parents are surely from Bulgaria, but seems to have been born and brought up in the UK! You're a racist moron!
TeaDubyaEll Accents!?! Seriously!?! Lol Yep! Had a chat with Tsang on Twitter coz I thought he maybe from Hong Kong, but he's from China. I'm sure both teams chose them to comply with the 'diversity' requirement, so it should be stated honestly, as other contestants have done. Neither contestant impressed so I'm guessing that's why they were chosen.
M Ra I'm guessing you are Tsang, still pissed off from our Twitter chat, but couldn't say the above under your real name there, coz u r taking this REALLY personally. Lol In the absence of any educated reply or defence to a strong position, weak sh*t resort to ad hominem, (personal attacks). Pathetic!
