One of the faster-paced matches, 19 Qs + 6 misses, thanks to Paxman's quick reading of the loooooong questions and Keble's quick 'Pass'ing. Keble: 12 starters with pretty proficient Pasternack on 7, Green 3 and Player 2. Atkinson would have done well to think about answers instead of looking to team-mates for them. She also lost 3x5 points for incorrect interruptions. Bonus conversion rate 49%. I was a tad disappointed that they sucked bigtime on my fave topic, 'Bears in Heraldry' :P East Anglia: 7 starters with fantastic Forde-Roberts on 5, Bellamy & Walker 1 each. Bcr 48%. Kudos to Paxman for awarding EA the 'Mond(r)ian' points.
@@adamwalker9796 Ans: Cap! Eve! Red! Oops! R! De! Paxman: WTF! Slow down! I don't have enough questions! Ok! I'll give u the point but only because I'm being kind!
I'm fairly confident that they have used the questions about the town hall's of Manchester, Rochdale and Oldham before. And no, that's not why I indentified them correctly. I just live here!
14:41 Is it just coincidence that Selenium, the element named after the Moon, is directly above Tellurium, the element named after The Earth in the periodic table.
I'd love to find out about the process by which a college decides on which of it's 4-member UC team will be captain. Atkinson was positively lamentable.
Forde-Roberts made most of the points for her team, and is then ignored by the 3 boys after the quiz, who are having a jolly old time commiserating over their weak performance.
I'm confused. Someone has posted an episode of UC and people are commenting on how some female contestants knew loads of stuff rather than whether or not they're fit. wtf?
S48 LOSERS’ TABLE Though they were well on pace at one point, UEA's weak finish means they will not be moving on. King's - London are thus confirmed as the fourth-highest scoring losers. East London have the unfortunate distinction of being the closest team to earning a second chance. Pembroke-Cambridge, on the other hand, have the the even more unfortunate distinction of finishing as the lowest-scoring team this series. Onto the playoffs! 175 Emmanuel - Cambridge 150 Exeter 150 Hertford - Oxford 145 King’s - London ------------------- 135 East London 115 East Anglia 110 Queen’s - Belfast 105 York 90 SOAS 75 Pembroke - Oxford 75 Sidney Sussex - Cambridge 55 London - Institute in Paris 55 Strathclyde 50 Pembroke - Cambridge
Forde-Roberts from Essex did not get one answer wrong, proving an exception to the rule (Essex Girl) Jeremy Paxman gets a five point penalty for continuing questions after someone has buzzed in. This practice gives extra information to the team that buzzed in too early and is therefore totally unfair!
Finally, after 48 series. Maybe there'll be another such battle in series 96. They're bound to come along once in a while. It always amazes me to see women celebrating coming 2nd place in a two horse race.
@Duck Duck ..So I replayed it to remind myself which questions I got right and this time I got 8 right.....even more chuffed...so there's your proof!!!!
@Duck Duck Hallo,my name is Eric,my Dad Pete has just jumped out of the window after reading your reply you must be a very cruel person........hope you don't sleep tonight....you nasty, nasty person....goodbye for ever.!!
Thank you from us.....the speed is less important than the fact that it happens. The BBC's stupid new rules so that we can't even use a proxy have made us impotent in watching the only programme we like, well apart from only connect.
23:51 c'mon, don't pass on a question you have atleast a 1/10 chance on to guess correctly.... (there is atleast a few letters to single out easily as less used or usefull)
Without knowing, I'm guessing Keble will cruise to victory, they just look more intelligent. When people say you can't judge a book by it's cover, that's rubbish.
Is it just me or have there been a lot of underwhelming teams this season? Was not terribly impressed with either team here. The amount of wrong answers - or unanswered questions - was almost as frequent as correct ones.
Every once in a very blue moon, the women do better. People comment on it because when it happens.....it's news. It's out of the ordinary, and feminists still try to make it out as some sort of vindication for women. Always makes me chuckle.
Ming gooo lay? Ming goo lay? Get it right man. The emphasis is on the first and third syllables, not the second. Ming gu laaay. Emphasis on the first syllable and main emphasis on the third one.
I think he said that he was looking for a play. The play was called The Rocky Horror Show. The subsequent film was called The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Thank you so much to UEA for introducing themselves properly with their full names. As for Keble - apart from Player - don't they know their bloody surnames?! They should've been disqualified for using first name intros! It's not cool - it's really annoying! Sadly, I found myself shouting "F***king idiot!" at the tv when Pasternack, Green & Atkinson introduced themselves! Think I might have to give up watching UC if this stupidity continues 'coz I'm really worried that next time I'll end up throwing my dinner at the tv!
So what if it IS sexist. There's nothing wrong with being sexist. Everybody is sexist anyway. It's just this modern approach whereby everyone has to keep quiet about their opinions. We will look back at this age and see what fools we were.
