The next second round match for place in Quarterfinal, we have Durham University against York University. Original air date 17.11.2014. This one makes me sad
Thank you so much for uploading weekly episode of this show!! I very much look forward to your upload every week, since I am a great fan of this quiz show who lives in Japan, where it's not possible to watch it on TV or on BBC iPlayer. So, a massive thank-you to you for these vids in such a high resolution and a high quality, which is excellent and so enjoyable!!!
I feel that York Middleton should be penalized for saying "um" every time he starts. It seems like it's a idiosyncratic habit and not a delaying tactic, but it's still unfair.
Hardly an idiosyncratic habit, since the vast majority of people do it, incl. politicians and even American presidents. To demand that he be penalized for would be the same as demanding that a contestant be penalized for such politeness as, 'Sorry, we don't know' or 'Would that be....?'
I guessed that Durham would win. On average, their entrance requirements are higher. The age of Durham University also might make it more attractive to those who can pick between the two. However, Durham must be the most messily constructed of universities. All they did for many years for the departments was take over townhouses. There's no heart to it all aside from University College (the Castle) and the 60s union. No wonder that Durham's alumni isn't all that impressive in famous names considering its age.
I must say that Fred Harvey from Durham and Gabriel Trueblood from Oxford-St. Peter's are the most competent, most inspiring, leaders of their groups, when compared with the leaders of all the rest.
Not at all. It's British humour, which must be delivered with a deadpan face, and none of the American explaining: 'Just joking.' It is founded on goodwill and trust between people and is misunderstood as rudeness only by outsiders, be they local or foreign.
