Next of the third round, we have two teams who have lost one match (I must say, the defeats were not close) each, Oxford Brookes University (not part of Oxford, apparentlz) vs Bristol Universitz. Original air date 23.2.2015
Very poor to have that second maths question be actually *incorrect*. What was asked for was certainly an injection, not a bijection. (For example: if X={1}, Y={2,3}, and f(1) = 2 then f is a function such that each y in Y has at most one x in X such that f(x)=y. But it's certainly not a bijection.)
17:40 A bijection is an injection, so it seems to me that Rendell's answer should have been accepted. A bijection is an injection which is also a surjection, and it didn't sound to me as though the question clearly specified that the described function was surjective.
@@thealistairdick1845 - Reynolds is derived from an old French or Germanic name, though common in Ireland too, but who wouldn't want her on their team? (despite the unnecessary lean forward to answer!)
Someone tell miss Reynolds that a) you dont have to lean forward to state your answer, and b) its best not to prefix every answer with an 'err'. Very bright though.
