Think I've found a new favourite team in Emmanuel - Cambridge, some of their comments and just general excitement at being there I just really liked. It's rare to really see teams treating the show any less than 100% serious and it was nice to see that change a bit.
Emmanuel - Cambridge are my favorites. Seagull is a terrific captain, full of enthusiasm and Barton-Singer was the surprise MVP; he also gets the prize for easiest-on-the-eye.
Considering that Edwards did most of the correct answering of questions, with a little help from two other contestants and almost none (if any) from the third other contestant, it's hardly surprising that they lost, since the other team had everyone chip in.
I had a bad feeling about SOAS's chances from the start since they had two similar studies in the same type of field, South-East Asian combined with Near&Middle Eastern studies, which felt pretty limiting. Meanwhile EMMANUEL was more spread out with history combined with math and physics.
Mr Paxman is speaking not Spanish but English. His pronunciation is the correct English one. One may also pronounce it with a schwa sound for the second syllable. It is perfectly normal for names in a foreign language to have an especial English pronunciation, for example, Berlin, Strassbourg, Cologne, and Himalaya. Even English spelling, as in the Tagus River (Tejo) in Lisbon (Lisboa), the Hague (Den Haag) in the Netherlands (Nederland), and Copenhagen (København) in Denmark (Danmark). The same thing may be found in any language.
it's the standard English pronunication. The French and Portuguese read it as 'key- SHOTT' - an approximation. And anyway, in Spanish it's pronounce kee-ho-tay. So there.
Because they lost their first round match, and then went against another one of the highest scoring losing teams to get their place in the second round. But I agree, everyone needs more Monkman on their screens.
