Krol, big player, fast and accurate, he hardly needs his team. And while Royle is really good, I don't think St. Anne's would make it in the next round anyway. Shame for him.
Krol (I think) has the highest personal score of R1: 9 Starters on a variety of topics: 1940s (maps), Neptune, Hippocrates & Galen, 90 degrees, William, Wegener, Wittgenstein, joker, Yates. Impressive as St. Anne's put up a fight even though they had vague bonuses like English rebellions & popinjays. On the plus side Royle snapped up starters 'electrum' and 'cobalt' as well as the bonuses on 'Chemistry' (Surprise! Surprise!)) and 'CGS units'. Good anticipation by Chandramohan of SDGs though couldn't believe they f*cked up 2 Indian geography questions, considering that's probably where the lovely sweater came from :P
The amount of wasted questions related to the US surely makes the gamble of getting an American in your team all the more worth it, although we have a team of two members of apparent South Asian descent fucking up Indian geography. Corpus Christi got lucky with the easier bonuses going to them as well as fluking a lot of times, but Krol is still solid.
Ramboost007 They both have Indian names, and honestly as an Indian I was kinda disappointed they didn’t get those simple questions correct. They would have ended with 145 points
Having an Indian name does have anything to do with knowing things about India. They were both obviously born and raised in the UK and the Netherlands and should be treated as a British and a Dutch, not Indian.
Funny how there's always comments about contestants' arrogance/smugness. Such comments invariably say a lot about no one but the commentator. Have watched a good many UC episodes and can recall only one contestant whom I would call arrogant, and certainly not Mr Krol.
Welllllll he did get back-to-back starters 'Aristotle' and the 'Iliad' and the team scored a full house on both follow-up bonuses on 'islands' and 'physics', a solid 50 points in the bag at the start ...
@Andrey+26likers I prefer well-earned smugness to hypocrisy coz if u 'dont want to be rude' then dont! Any comments on the actual quiz or did all of that sail right through that space between your ears? :)
