Maloney was on fire.

Great atmosphere, both teams looked quite relaxed. I was rooting for Magdalen, it's a bit unfortunate we won't see them again. Gibson is a fantastic captain.

to be fair the way paxman pronounced it it did sound more like sauber than Zauber. Sauber does mean clean.

Utterly shameful that Paxman's pronunciation of foreign languages is so bad. In German the difference between "sauber" (clean) and "zauber" (magic) is obviously significant. Fitz team were trying to work out something to do with clean. Maybe if Paxo had pronounced it properly they'd have had a chance of guessing.

Good match! Although I kept being distracted by imagining Magdalen as a gang of crime-fighting kids in an afternoon TV series or eighties movie. I don't say this pejoratively, they just seem to fit the casting stereotypes for that sort of thing.

RE: HOWE. IMO standing out from the crowd is always preferable to being part of a crowd for reasons that may be more obvious to someone raised in Germany

In reference to the very first question, really hope Oxlade says "great" in the exact same tone when his friends ask him for an opinion of a movie, song etc

I pity Howe, the team mascot, knowing that despite looking and being the dumbest on the team, he is seated on the right of the captain and in 4709 BBC gave him more closeups than the captain, all because he has a famous godfather that is in/out of BBCs revolving doors very often. It also explains why Fitz is the only all-male team allowed to get through to the QFs and prob win the damn thing!
