Just reading through some of the comments here makes me laugh. If you don't understand the point of a beater then you might want to look into it. This truck was sitting in a parking lot for MONTHS for $1500 dollars and no one wanted it. Jacob ended up buying it for $1200 dollars. When the truck or another one of the vehicles breaks we fix them ourselves. Not saying we know everything, but what do you expect from a 19 and 20 year old with no training. Some of you guys are just ridiculous 😂
Personally, I would just fix it up and keep it, or fix it up and sell it for a higher price. But that's just me. Your guy's videos of destroying this unkillable truck is sometimes hard to watch, but otherwise funny and entertaining!
Mr. T. That shit actually happened to me with me 07 Jeep Grand Cherokee 🤣🤣 my mom thought I drove it hard but it was just my daily & boom engine blew going to work 😂😤👀
Got an 02 Tahoe with 487k miles on it, it's got a 5.3L v8 vortec and it STILL gets up and goes, the acceleration it still has left after almost 500k miles is crazy! Tahoe still drives brand new, original everything in it.
@@Valdemar-Perez-III That's usually my measure of how much someone cares about their truck. If someone can't be bothered to replace a $3 bulb, then clearly they don't care about more important things. Me personally, I put LEDs in mine.
@@Valdemar-Perez-III On mine, the wiring connector was melted from the old bulbs, I replaced that for around $5 for both. It's worth looking into at least
Before I bought my 04 2500hd with the 6.0, it was a parts delivery truck. It lost all oil pressure around 270k and the main bearings pretty much dissolved around 282k while the driver was making a delivery. It still ran but sounded like an unbalanced washing machine. Then I bought it for $500. (body is clean as a whistle) Upon pulling the engine, I could pick up on the balancer and move the crank up and down with my hands. Found a 5.3 for next to nothing and dropped it in. It's up to 310k and still running strong. The thing to watch out for with the 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 is the oiling system. Mainly the pickup tube gasket at the oil pump and the oil pump itself. Keep that shit in check and take care of all the maintenance and it will run indefinitely.
Mechanics? You should change your name to Rebel Idiots. No mechanic would mercilessly beat on equipment like that. Mechanics fix things. They don’t destroy them.
even if you dont wanna call them mechanics i give them props most people their age (im thinking like 19-20ish) have no idea how to even change their own tire or when to do an oil change besides if their car tells them. and actually you can't beat on your stuff for very long if you don't know how to fix it, you'll go broke real quickly beating the shit out of your truck and taking it to a shop when it breaks.
If you actually think knowing what shit is called is the only way you could be a mechanic you probably have to watch a youtube video to fill up your tires. You could have no idea what anything is called and still be a better mechanic than some wannabe mechanic who just thinks he knows everything but probably has never done any real work
Andre Frederick if you don't know what shit is called what would you ask for when you went to the parts store because you would not know what part to ask for😂😂😂😂oohh ya I am a mechanic at the Ford place..I was changing oil when you was a kid...
What I love is both of your daytime running lights somehow work on this thing, at least one burns out on literally every truck of this generation. Work Rig is a unicorn.
Nick Ormsby i was on my way to school and decided to turn into a gas station for breakfest and soon as i did the motor died and wouldnt do anything. Poured oil into the motor and it went str8 to the ground
this is the first vid i’ve watched by y’all and i can’t stop laughing at you beating the shit out of that silverado, and then that cavalier sounded fucking amazing. i’d like to know the story on thst
pretty sure those groms were headed to my area for h2oi, in ocean city MD. I saw a post on facebook about a bunch of dudes on groms making the trip all the way from FL
3:10 - Toally awesome!! EXACTLY my kinda driver, gives engine fair warning and warms pedal up twice with 2 light punches. Then, SMASHES it to the floorboards and lets engine sing beautifully in the redline. 6:57 - holds the pedal flat into the floor in a random parking ground so everyone can get to enjoy the sounds. 7:07 - drives around with pedal floored so even more people can enjoy the sounds. 10:30 - beats that pedal down and holds it there to show it clearly who's in charge.
Haha love how people are commenting poor truck and don't say anything about the fact that they're driving a broken piece if shit like maniacs in a public suburban neighborhood in total disregard for their selves or anyone in the area
why? for taking a beat up truck into a back lot in the middle of nowhere and beating the fuck out of a truck? Im also a teen driver who has had no tickets and no accidents but i also enjoy going offroads(like they are) and having fun. Should try it sometime you square. They really didnt do much on the public road
Maybe i opinion on it is just different because i live in a place where we have a neighbor in the area with a 1700HP Drag car that runs it on the road sometimes with buddies. just does like 0 and 10mph or so to 120mph pulls but where i live its all backroads and corn fields. only thing you might hit is an animal. No i dont think you should be doing 80 in residential areas.. but they didnt do that in this video. they were relatively away from people.
7:23 Dude they spun there tire neutral dropping and redlining that POS through residential area. Its all fun and games until a small child runs in front of a car. I conceal carry do something like that around my kids I wont wait to see if he can keep control of his truck. I own a forged 383 SBC with a 88mm turbo h/c/i. My engine makes 982hp/ 1243 ft lbs tq. I never do anything like that on the street . Your 100% right in the middle of bum fuck no where and on the busy street are two different places.
For some reason the diff on my Chevy will just lock em up out of no where sometimes you'll try a burn out and only one will fire but most the time both will fire
That's generally how an open differential works. If both tires/axle shafts have the same resistance then you will spin both. Just depends on the surface you're on and your tires. I know back in high school in the rain I could get both to light up while "lightly" power sliding around a corner :)
david Salmons my truck all i use it. For work or to get me to point A to point B. Ill sometimes do take it mudding but i dont go too ruff. Cause it doesn't have a lift.
When you got other vehicles to drive and u have money to fuck around in a cheap beater car don't say u wouldn't do the same shit because if u say u wouldn't ur lying and that's a fact.
M7 Machines Aint nothing wrong with a Jeep. I’ve got a buddy with a 2000 Jeep xj sport 2wd and he treats about like that and it’s more loyal than half the stuff I see on the road nowadays so
You guys should swap in a cheap 3/4 rear for the work rig if the axles shafts are destroyed. Wouldn't be to bad since it's 2wd. Does anyone make a 8 to 6 lug adapters?
We've actually looked into that and its actually quite a bit of work. You have to re weld the leaf spring brackets because the 2500hd axle won't line up or something along those lines
Yea, they have a narrower spring width. Me and my dad halfway SAS'ed a 97 Dakota with 14b and d60. We never got far enough to weld the spring perches back on the 14b, but it's still mocked up. I found a cheap Toyota that was already solid front and rear, so we gave up on that project.
I would weld that diff with a damn arc welder set really hot. Do your first welds with 1/8” 6011 and then cover the rest of it and fill it in with 7018.
Brenden Olson no. 6010 only runs on DC so your average buzz box arc welder couldn’t run it. 6011 can run on AC and DCEP, which means you can use it with any stick welder. Same with 7018, although it does run nicer on DC than AC. Usually only the high end buzz boxes and your higher end inverter tig welders have both AC and DC capabilities, so the average person would not be able to run 6010 because the AC/DC buzz boxes are a lot less common than the standard old-school weekend warrior AC buzz box.
Triston Charge the 5.3 is ok the 5.7 350 vortec is indestructible my grandfather has a 99 Tahoe with 398K on it everything is original except the fuel pump it runs like new still
I'd check the brake lines itself to make sure they don't have a hole busted in them. My 99 had a hole busted in it and almost all of the lines were rusted to shit.
My daily 01 tahoe has 300k on it and ive only had to replace the fuel pump, radiator, and hoses. Everything else works perfectly. As long as you do the regular maintenance with quality parts these engines will run forever.
Tips to do with the truck with problems take it to a oil change place and they will see on reseting all engine error codes and change the oil and check gas cap
