Hi everyone! In this video, my friend and I are taking our 2023 Colorado Trail Bosss to Flag Pole via Union Springs. According to ON X Off Road maps, it's a level 4 difficulty trail. The path takes us through the rocky terrain of the George Washington National Forest, which can be quite narrow at times. We had to climb some 2-foot rock faces/steps, cross water crossings, and navigate other obstacles along the way.

I’ve seen many ZR2s selling for 60k,,, it’s closer to a 20k difference , before I bought my Trail Boss I looked at a GMC Canyon Elevation ,,, same color as yours and mine,,,,they wanted 49k and it was a two wheel drive truck,,I payed 41,100 and got every option but the 360 cameras!

Exactly! The trail boss is the best value, the ZR2 needs more for that big of a price difference

From about 9 minutes on I was like YES, Finally some trails that looks like my east coast terrain with all the slate style rock and being wet 🤣. That just sealed the deal for me on how amazing this truck is and what it can handle, & obviously you guys knowing to air down and what lines to pick, great job! Kinda odd to me how Chevy named this a "Trail Boss" with no front locker & 1" shorter 🤷‍♂😂. But when I do eventually buy this truck in years to come I am still thinking the ZR2 for a couple of factors. 1- is the whole front end grille/bumper is meaner looking on the ZR2, number 2- the shaker style hood & 3rd the front locker. Only because I am coming from an E350 Quilgey 4X4 van w/ 3" lift and 285/75/17 tires, so I know the feeling of what having front lockers are like(even though i have to manually turn each front wheel hub; not electric) and how it handles. Never actually been on any trails like this though, what do you guys use to find trails like this? App? or just google? So you drive on trails like this that bring you to a camping spot? Do you pay for the camping spot?

The trail boss does a great job, the ZR2 obviously it’s really nice if you have the extra 10K, the front locker would inspire more confidence but I’m not sure if that’s a fair trade off for $10,000. I use the ON X Off-road map, it gives you all of the trails in your area, this specific Trail is in the George Washington national forest and all roads lead to Flag pole, so you can take multiple routes and we chose to take the hardest one available. Driving out here is free and camping is also free.

Do both trucks have the full surrouns camera systems? My 2023 trail boss came with the full surround camera system package from champion chevrolet in Johnson city,tn. The side view cameras cime in handy so you can see if you will hit any big rocks located close by the trail. Mine is in the prerty velicity blue color. On yourube i found videos of trails like this polw rock one. Those other trails are located up above Luray. You can see them on bing map. There are also many good trails located above bland and pearisburg,va in southwest region in Virginia. They run up towards the va and wv borders. You can get to them off of highway 42 thar runs east off of interstate 77 and bland,va.

Glad you guys are getting out and experiencing but more safety, spotting tactics and planning is needed. Example camera person directly in front of vehicle coming down slopes is a bad move, hanging on the back of the truck while it’s moving or being close to the vehicle while it’s crawling on wet rocks. Be safe out there guys. Don’t do what other people do and keep away from the vehicles

In northeast Tennessee up on holston mountain by the bristol nascar track i drove my 2023 colorado trail boss all over the forestry and logging roads in 4x2 mode. It had no problems going right up those roads to the top of the mountain which is up a little over 4,000 in elevation.

Please keep up the great videos! Both Trail Bosses did super great. (Your friend is testing the durability of the tan Colorado lol). Please keep up the videos. Also are y’all gonna lift your Colorado so it has a better turning radius? I would recommend rockslides. Could you please do a video on future modifications? Thanks again.

Absolutely and I’m waiting for a lift kit to be available, suspension lift. I am trying to wait for rock sliders to be available. However, I did talk to a local fabricator who can make them for just under $1000.

@@JT4X4OFFROADING Under $1000! Wow that’s a steal! Me and my dad tried finding rocksliders for his 2019 Ford Ranger FX4 (with the rear E locker) and their ain’t many for that price. Also why do you get the ZR2’s sliders from Chevy?

You guys made that look easy with the G80. I’ve seen other videos where people stop right before the locker kicks in (TFL). Any damage to the tan TB at 13:20?

N FAB Rock Rails, they are Body Mounted but very sturdy. A great option for mild offloading.

Stock, A arm smack and transfer case stock metal skid plate. Yeah, tire went off the line. We both need underbody plates fully

I'm trading in my truck for the trailboss in December and that is the first thing I'm planning on buying for it. Feel like as a "trailboss" they *should* come with better plates but I guess thats what their fancy zr2 is for LOL@@JT4X4OFFROADING

It tells you the PSI of each tire and notifies you when it reaches the desired pressure but it doesn't not air down automatically

All major obstacles I used 4 Low to protect the transmission and power if needed.

Lmao I was trying to say if they can make it, there’s no way we can’t, however, I’m not sure how they made it up one of the rock bases because there’s really only one way up, they had to of used traction board to gain approach angel
