Kudos. Carson you still give the best step by step instructions. Better than anyone I have ever seen and heard. What patience you have. knowing that you have to keep stopping for camera angles.

Thank you mike. I try to hopefully help someone that might need that different angel to fully see what they are doing to understand.

I worked for Timken Bearing for 14 years and they had tight tolerances on their bearings. I probably heat treated the bearing you put in that clutch assembly because I’d heat treat billions of the ball and pin needles each week. 😎👍👍

Man that is cool. So i know who to blame if they fail early or is it one of of those that was the friday evening shift you weren't on??? LOL. J?k Nah in all honestly they are some of the best around. ✌✌

Another great step by step how to. That clutch spring can be a rascal to reinstall.

thanks eric. I'm glad i bought the right tool for the right job... makes thing easier for sure. I had contemplated trying to build something myself but figured "for youtube" i better not.

@@brontarlabta.k.a.briantayl3484 thank you... Whenever I do some type of maintenance I try to include all the information so you don't have to buy the manual unless you want to. I also understand the pain when you have two seals/o-rings that look just alike on knowing which goes where..

It's not as hard as they seem... Main thing is having the special tool.

Man; you're like magic. I've always found that spring spacer and snapring to be a nightmare to reinstall. The tramp and the softail have that same clutch spring setup. Great tutorial.

Thanks man! I was actually quite surprised at how easy it went in to be honest. hardest thing was working with the snap rings that was holding cutch adjustments. Crazy i went from using a craftsman to remove them to the harbor freight one to install them and it was like night and day difference.

It's good to see her back on the road! I have to wonder if that wobbly bearing may have cracked your pressure plate, and that's why it broke on you when you were taking it apart. Either way, it's always good when a part breaks when you are working on it rather than breaking when you're out on the road. How far out of adjustment was your clutch cable with the new clutch pack? Does the new beefier clutch diaphragm spring make the clutch noticeably harder to hold in? How does the clutch feel without that spring plate deal in the middle of the pack? That seems like an odd thing to have in the middle of a clutch pack! No wonder the upgrade does away with it. The more plates, the more friction area. The extra plate clutch is definitely the way to go. Your microphone sounded good!

I didn't mess with the cable adjustment as far as what give you the 3/16" or whatever it is there at your handle. I still don't know if I have it fine tuned yet as Sunday was the first ride on it and so I am wanting to adjust it a tad to see if I can get it a little better but as far as holding it in... it doesn't seem like it's any harder to me to hold in but it does seem to have a quicker release if that make sense. Like its easier to "Pop" the clutch. Yea i'm not 100% sure exactly what it's use was for other than to make up the difference and maybe to hold pressure on it?
@tommylitchfield3450
@tommylitchfield3450 4 месяца назад
@@theadventurousrider Yeah, that makes perfect sense about the "quicker" release. My guess is, that spring plate deal probably works like a shock absorber of a sort, so without it, when it grabs, it grabs. Seems like some engineer's way of "taming" the release for the "average rider" and when the stock clutch goes south, Harley sells you the Screamin' Eagle clutch that it should have came with from the get-go. Even with the stock spring, the extra disc clutch will take more torque, but with that stronger spring, you should be good to go for a long, long time. That Timken bearing was a good upgrade, too.
@theadventurousrider

@@tommylitchfield3450 that makes sense to me. Yea I think with the kit and the temkin bearing I shouldn't have to worry for a long time like you said!

did the clutch pull get harder with the se kit?
@theadventurousrider

@@nickg0411 I don't think so. I think the first few times maybe but I think that was in my mind with the fact of looking for stuff. After a few times it has felt like it did before
