Before I understood current and wire size I ran a 14gauge wire in my buddies jeep to a pretty heavy duty amp direct to the battery, the wire literally started glowing red, lit on fire and melted. It was pretty cool
That's a nice, tidy install! That's a good idea having your lead in fuse on the outside of the battery box so that you don't have to remove the seat to pull the fuse to cut power easily to your new circuits.
Not a wise thing to pull more than what the Alternator can deliver on any car or bike so the charging amp is a thing to know on what ever it may be that one wants to add too. There is not to much head room on stock charging systems and cooking an Alternator can get expensive.
Oh I agree with you. I wasn't worried about it on mine as I changed out the dual 60watt front headlights to I don't think 10watts so I frees up 100watts doing that conversion. That is a good point!!
Great video and importat stuff. Anyone thats adding any alectronics or ports to thier bike should do something like this. You do not want to have something rigged up and have it die on the side of the road. Messy instilation could make a side of the road issues a real PITA. Have you ever used a posi tap? Ive seen them but never tried. It would be good for switched power.
Yea that is a thing to think about. Don't wanna spend a ton of time broke down in the middle of nowhere without cell service. No I haven't heard of those before.
Another great informative video, that explains what you are doing and why you are doing it. Great info for someone wanting to add a fuse box. Keep the great videos coming! Ride Safe.
Thank you sir. It was a fun video to do as in an odd way I enjoy doing this type of work. Most people don't like electronics/electrical work but it's fun and interesting to me.
This is something I’ve really needed to know how to do on my Dr650. Great instructional video… you really excel in this type of video. Thanks for the info. Ol Slick
