Olympian Natasha Hastings recounts her story navigating the mental health challenges of being a competitive athlete, embracing her own vulnerability, and her journey to becoming a mental health advocate and counselor. Natasha Hastings is an Olympic, World, and US National Champion Track and Field Sprinter. She specializes in the 400 and 4×400-meter relay events. She’s also an influencer, entrepreneur, mom, and philanthropist. While Natasha accomplished a lot on the track, she knows that rest is just as important as exertion. She’s also a mental health advocate and decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health in order to help eradicate the stigma around mental health in her community. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Awesome story! Athletes do need therapy but they realized until after the fact. Also transitioning from been the most athletic to average in the corporate world extremely challenging. In my opinion, the athletes has to train simultaneously excel at both. But someone has to tell them early. Also Dr. Hastings could run a mean quarter mile! Congrats on your new endeavors.
