I showed this to my 14 years old nephew who was bagging C & D in school. The next day, he told me: uncle, I think I’m gonna run for Senate one day. The following months, he started to record B+ and A-

It turned out to be exactly what she said it wouldn't: a motivational talk. It is well executed and she seems very confortable with the stage and this type of presentantion. Content-wise I have concerns though. I felt like her premises were conveniently chosen with no backup information at all. There's a moment when I saw a contradiction as well. The part when she says that in order to not get stressed by consequences, one should project how would it affect you in the future (5 years, 10 years from now, etc). The problem is that the projection is the very source of anxiety in the example. It is because the person doesn't know the future that the consequences of current actions are paralizing, so to rely on a "faulty" projection of the future can cause even more anxiety. Well, only my thoughs on the matter. If the presentation worked for you, then I'm glad! Cheers

The idea that makes most sense to me is that we are basically a consciousness that is neutral by nature but can go in absolutely any direction aka you can be absolutely anything you choose to be.

@@Your-moms-gigolo Think of it in the fluid sense- you can choose to be predatory like a shark, brave like a superhero or soaring like an eagle, choosing to transcend over negativities. It’s all in the mind, the actual ‘matter’ is immaterial 😊

TED X motivates the individuals to achieving goals. Perhaps now we see the mental benefits for expanding our communication skills. MIND over the matter. The containment’s or reframes from others which do not allow access must be overcome.

I love the first half of this talk, but not the last. Her only solution to procrastination is to give myself a fake dateline? That failed so many times and there's articles that explains why it's not a good solution. The big picture solution just caused more anxiety and the connect the dot technique.. well I can't really understand how it can be applied for my problem.

This has nothing to do with this talk or her personally. I saw the lower half of the screen as I was looking at another screen to do work. And I noticed- thinking - why did women's clothing become so unattractive. The jacket is fantastic but it is now common to see the bottom half of the speakers style on women today. Growing up women's fashion was so pretty and beautiful to look at(not referring to baring or not baring skin). Because something's become common doesn't mean it's attractive. Thus the style on the lower half of screen is unattractive and distracting. Too bad. The way we dressed used to be so beautiful, streamlined, enhancing in a positive light. Some of you know just what I mean. Just an observation.

Fear not. Worst climate predictions haven't come true and it is impossible to treat climate as strict science cause it can't be replicated

A speech like this, amazing as it is, and that's the comment you come up with? Very unprofound and ineffective.
@laladyjane
@laladyjane 5 месяцев назад
I agree with @crystalrith7296! Also, it’s completely false to say that climate change predictions haven’t come true. Have you seen the polar ice caps??? In case you haven’t, they are melting rapidly which is causing our oceans to rise and is affecting animals and ecosystems around the world. This is just one of the numerous ways our planet is being affected by greenhouse gases and climate change so denying it is extremely dangerous and selfish.

You can't hold a tape measure to the surface of the sun, or take a field sample of it for analysis either. Yet, we know how far away it is, what it's made of, and a good idea of how much longer it will be here. The Cascadia faultline has been due since the 1700s when the last major quake left the tectonic plates under great stress. It's not a question of whether or not radical changes in the climate are going to happen, or whether or not the pnw will experience a megathrust, the only variable is the when. Human lifespan isn't more than a fleeting moment to celestial bodies. Either of these things could happen 200 years from now and be considered fashionably late, if not punctual.
