The apps seem to be just as important as the hardware. Can you explain what “hammers” is and the “spotting page” on a cell phone?

Sure Hammers is an app (hamrs.app/) that is available on all platforms (IOS, Android, windows) that most POTA Activators use. It has a lot of built in features and is a great logging tool. I'll have a video posted on it later this week keep an eye out for it!

Hi. Those appear to be Portable Zero rails. Best rails on the market. I have their rails on four of my hf rigs. Worthwhile investment, IMHO. Good luck! Marc (N1QGM)

Marc you are spot on! I started with some 3d printed rails but I took the radio on one trip and they were destroyed. Never again will I go that route. Well worth the money. If you need a link to pick up a pair let me know.

How do you deactivate a park thoroughly before you go?

There are two ways to handle this.. The clean way is to go back up to the spotting page on POTA.APP and update/edit your spot. In the comments field put QRT and save. The system will automatically clear the spot. The other way is if you can't update it after a while the system will clear your spot if nobody updates it.

I use one as well. Pretty inexpensive on Amazon. The extension is great and the splitter makes dual ops super easy with two mics

@@N1JUR I found it on there. I had already bought the duplex adapter, having seen a previous vid of yours and your buddy doing tandem-POTA. Actually using it in my office so I can have a mic at the radio and also over at my desk across the room when I do Net Control and need my computer and desk to work from. Your videos are full of hidden gems. And beautiful scenery. Hope to catch you on the air some day. NE is usually open to FL. I just need to get on the air.
