This is not the kind of pedal to blow your ear drums out but any setting just has the most fantastic tone. Not normally a fan of single coils but they really shine with the pedal…. Love it.

Sounds pretty good. I don't feel that it sounds quite like any of the Marshall amps I've owned, however I imagine it's next to impossible to capture the sound of overdriven power amp stage with a preamp pedal.

Hmm- it's very hard to hear the differences over the internet like this- they all 3 sound remarkably similar. I could tell the last one- the one all the way to the right- seemed a little brighter. And the one in the middle seemed to have a tad more gain to it. I'm sure there is more difference than this- but I can't hear it once the audio has been compressed and RU-vid'ed. This is always an issue for online reviewers I would imagine and explains why we often don't seem to hear the same thing you guys are hearing in the room. It does help to use a really good set of headphones though- fixing to put mine on. I finally got my Lion 68 up and running- and I'm back in the analogue pedal market now. I did save a compressor and 1 good OD when I sold all my pedals to buy a modeler- but that's it. But actually, this presents a rare opportunity- now I can rebuild my collection knowing ahead of time what I like and how pedals work and how to put together a proper board. It was trial and error before- this time I know a lot more about what I'm doing. I am still having one issue with the Lion though- when I go into the control app, under artist presets- all I get are 20 presets all by one artist- James Santiago. I saw guys online choosing from multiple different artists and even presets that already had reverb on them- but I can't find any of that stuff. I get 20 factory presets, and 20 by this Santiago guy- and that's it. Oh- one more question- is this thing more for recording than live performance? Because I can't imagine having to fiddle with my phone between every song- and what would listeners think? They're going to be like "This guy can't even be bothered, he's on his phone every few minutes." Seems like a really strange way to design a pedal to me.

The Silver Jubilee and the JCM 900 are descendants of the JCM 800 (2203/2204) with diode clipping, hence hearing the differences in a solid-state overdrive pedal is all the more difficult. With regard to not hearing the sound in the room, that is the nature of recording.

Totally agree and whatever they say...this is not the nature of recording...either the pedal does jack shit or the way they recorded it totally killed ALL dynamics...because this sounded the worst part of shit with the little toggle doing basically nothing!!!!!

@@timothymartin2137 The nature of recording is that the end result is different than the sound in the room. Accurately recreating the sound in the room requires specialized training with specialized equipment, including the room itself.
