@@randomshittutorials Hey, glad you loved the guide & the music haha! Maybe someday I'll get to half your sub count! When I start making videos again, who knows?
@@Funky-dude681 Dang, this is late, but glad the guide helped. By now, you're probably dealing with the errors of your 1000+ add-ons fighting the game to exist, haha!
It feels weird for me to see an actual, fully-fledged GUIDE on how to play gmod. At first I was thinking "what's the point of this, this is all just the basics..." And then I remembered, oh right, I've been playing this game for the past like 10 years so of course I would know this, but it WOULD be nice for someone new to not have to spend hours on end just finicking with the controls, huh. So THANK you very much for this guide. I hope it helps out a new generation of players to jump in and enjoy the game to the fullest, and if I ever get to introduce the game to someone again I'll be linking them this guide. Have a nice day :D
Hey! I'm glad you found the tutorial worth its salt in terms of helping new players. You nailed the main reason I had for making this. Thank you for the kind words and you're welcome haha!
Tip: if you are a builder. Get a simple prop you can use and you can just simply press "SHIFT + E + Hold Left Click" WITH a Physics gun, To Make it into a angle. or pose. either way it can be useful for building.
This has been incredibly useful! My group and myself want to get into gmod already but none of us could figure it out that well. This gave us the basics to atleast get a grasp of the game!
That's fantastic; I'm glad the video helped you & your group understand Garry's Mod better. It was intended to help new players so I'm happy it's doing what it was made for!
This is the best "Beginner's Guide to..." video I have ever watched. From the way you explain to the background music. Absolutely underrated channel. I hope you get bigger.
Thank you! I finally got gmod yesterday after hearing great things about it for the past decade and it's great and this tutorial is really helpful. I've been playing games on my pc a long time but trying to figure out gmod without help was like watching an old lady use a computer for the first time 😅
Hey, I'm glad the guide helped! I hope you enjoy your time making contraptions, jumping through servers, & sometimes wasting 3 hours PvPing with friends when you're supposed to be productive haha!
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! I have been watching Gmod videos for years- but only was just gifted it recently. I started it up and HAD NOOO IDEA what was going on lol. ANYWAY- thanks so much for making an actual help vid/tutorial for Gmod- and not just being a jerk like omg who doesn't know how to play Gmod?! 💜
Glad to know the guide helped you out! It never made sense to gate-keep a video game, let alone a sandbox one. That's how a game dies, after all. I hope you enjoy your time playing solo or with friends in all the game crashing, server hopping, mod loading, contraption building fun you'll have!
It's definitely geared towards a newer wave of players but it never hurts to look through anything you might've forgotten about. I appreciate you stopping by!
@@thenoonclan7881 612 hours goes by so fast when you're having fun. Especially when most of that time is taken up by making sure your mods don't clash haha!
Maybe you play so boldly it was never a thought to crouch away from the danger. That being said, how'd you get around long jumps or higher walls without crouch jumping or using noclip haha!
I got my PC the other day and my friend got me GMod. I used to love watching all those goofy GMod videos RU-vidrs made. Now it’s time for me to learn how to play this game so I can goof like Glich’e
I agree! This is one of the many ways a community can keep a game alive & well. Accepting new players with a helping hand definitely makes them want to stick around.
@@seeyouowo absolutely, I’ve actually been considering starting a series of gmod LUA tutorials, to get folks started if they want to learn how to make their own addons. As well as share all the tricks and hidden rules I learned
@@azbrthefriendlygoat You should; I think a ton of new players would be into learning how to make their own add-ons. It's another layer of creativity Garry's Mod offers. A good idea that you ought to definitely act on!
I love how you laugh at some of the stuff you end up doing. No matter how much experience you have in gmod, there’s always stupid things to mess around with
Exactly! It's why Garry's Mod is in a league of its own in terms of sandbox games. The only limit is your own mind. Not to mention, the community is so passionate with how many interesting add-ons are created & added daily!
it only dawned on me recently that new people get this game because, atleast for me and my friends, we all learned how to play it like 8 years ago at least. But still really cool tutorial man
Thank you, I'm glad you thought the tutorial was cool! Although I made this beginner's guide to help new players, I didn't realize how many there were. I always figured Garry's Mod would stay in limbo between "well-known" & "low-key."
Thank you! Honestly, that's what I was thinking when I first had the idea to make this guide. I wanted to make it easier for new players to skip the tedious part & head straight to having fun. 🍞
Hey, it's awesome you thought it was entertaining. I'm glad that, although you know the game well, you chose to spend a bit of time watching a part of the guide!
I love this video. It helped a lot. You should have much more likes and subscribers, the video is just perfect, theres music, cuts, and good quality content
I remember someone showing me this way back in the day when it was brand new. So happy to see it's still around. Never actually set it up myself, I might have to now
Honestly, the best quality Garry's Mod players have is consistency. The community may be small but the numbers are always consistent no matter how long it's been.
You're welcome, I'm glad the guide did its job! To answer about the data moshing thing, tl;dr - Original file was corrupted. You're watching what I managed to manually recover, combined with redone parts and the original voiceover.
16:42 LOL I said the exact same thing right before you did here. made me laugh. thanks for the guide, been wanting to play this game for a while but none of my friends are into it
Hey, I'm glad you liked the guide! Honestly, although games are pretty fun with friends, Garry's Mod can still be tons of fun solo. Might as well become a Garry's Mod Pro while you wear 'em down to try it haha!
Actually, the reason why there is errors is because you probably need a valve game mounted to work with it, with most being Counter-Strike Source, Team Fortress 2, Half Life Source, Half-Life 2: Episode 1 and Episode 2. Some mods and maps use models from those games.
You're completely right! I didn't have the assets installed in the right folders. It slipped my mind at the time to mention in the video, unfortunately.
Glad to hear the guide helped you figure out at least the basics of what you can do! The game really comes alive when you start messing with hundreds to thousands of add-ons. 🔥🔥🔥
Hey, I'm glad the guide is still doing what it was made to do. I hope you have a fun time w/ friends, building contraptions, hopping through servers, & all the other cool things you'll get up to!
It feels like that when your creativity starts to flow & you start pulling build ideas out of the Ether! There's no other game like Garry's Mod, that's for sure.
Hey, glad you decided to learn more about playing Garry's Mod! Honestly, it's a bottomless pit in terms of what you can do. You could skim the surface & mess around with community mods. You could go deeper & learn how to make your own mods. It's possible to lose yourself & learn the programming language Lua to go further down the rabbit hole. At the end of the day, it's all up to you to figure out what you want to do!
A bit late to say this, but glad you liked the game through the guide! I hope you're already having a ton of fun building, playing with friends, server hopping & anything else you can think of!
Honestly, that's the beauty of Garry's Mod! You could either lose yourself in the rabbit hole or skim on the surface; All that matters is that you're having fun.
GMod to me is like a blank canvas, your imagination and community addons are brushes. The game doesn't tell you what to do, you are the one who will decide how this game should be played, in your very own way.
@@airulygs Exactly; You nailed it! The fact that it can go as far as your mind can go is nuts. Although, I don't blame people for burning out when it comes to making their own mods/learning Lua. At that point, you're DEEP in the Garry's Mod rabbit hole.
Hey, thanks for watching. 700 hours probably means 400 hours getting your 2,000 mods to play nice, 200 hours of waiting at the loading screen for said mods to finish, and the other 100 hours getting nuked by your friends at every given chance. Overall, still pretty fun haha!
theres a reason these games live, their unique, gmod only has funny internet shit with thousands of adons to select to make your dream world and barely anything is not in the workshop and tf2 is just silly as hell and people love every second of conga lining in 2fort just for everyone to explode bind at the intel room and l4d2 is just too good, these games are too good and unique to die
Hey, it may be an issue with the model you're using it on? All you'd have to do is point & left click to make it bigger or point & right click to make it smaller. Outside of that, it's possible the model being used might not have a structure that can be manipulated freely other than the abdomen.
How do you have that much subscribers i hope you get big someday man very good video i just got garry mod and this vid helped so much thank you so much
I appreciate the kind words. Happy to hear that the guide was able to help you out! Although the growth is slow, I'll keep trying to grow the channel for sure!
Woah, that's awesome! I hope you enjoy your time playing Garry's Mod! I can't even remember what it was like when I first got the game. All I remember are the good memories it gave me.
Hi, just bought G MOD, and I was following along in this video, but I noticed that whenever I spawn in a rag doll, it doesn't appear upright and straight like yours, but rather falls down like a rag doll, how do I fix this? I also can't load in any workshop items without it saying "ERROR".
Hey, sorry for replying so late! First, as far as I know, when you spawn in a rag doll, they'll always be limp. You'd have to stand them up & freeze 'em in place. Secondly, errors like that are normally resolved by verifying the game files. You can do that if you right-click on the game in your Steam library & click on Properties. Then go to the Installed Files tab & Verify the integrity of game files. Most of the time, it fixes these random issues. I hope I was able to help in some way. Outside of this, it may be a more specific issue I might not know the solution to, unfortunately.
@seeyouowo Hi, tha ks for the reply, but it turns of the Randall's is there anyway to make them perfectly straight like us, because I usually can't get precise enough to make it work, or perhaps spawn it in tposing or disabling physics?
Step 1 which he forgot, is have a friend. It’s the hardest as no one at my school or any of my friends know this game. They’re just addicted to fortnight. Meanwhile I, looking like the black sheep of the group. Playing hl1 and hl2, afraid of monsters and cry of fear, basically, I hate. Absolutely hate modern games for this reason.
Hey, it happens. One way you could make friends with the same interest in Gmod is joining a Gmod discord server. Another is straight up Gmod server hopping like ye olden times haha! Either way, you'll make friends that may or may not be on the no-fly list, but the gamble is worth it!
That goes for every game, no? Garry's Mod, in particular, allows you to have fun while being creative, make new friends, jump through bizarre servers, & experience community funded chaos. After that, then sure, kill time by doing anything else you'd like.
@@kuromeankokuboshi8568That's so sick! Those are some of my favorite add-ons so I decided to add them into the video. It's cool that the creator of those add-ons found my video haha!
Hey, glad you're interested in Garry's Mod. About the gray screens, I have the answer for that. It's due to the original video file I was editing becoming corrupted. What you're actually watching is the footage I recovered, as well as what I re-recorded so that it made sense. I think it still serves its purpose with minimal gray screens, and I hope it helps if you get the game!
