I agree with Steve Skinner That dust can become the start of lung cancer. Just keep out of the way and hold your breath if you don't have a mask, then move right away until the dust settles. And don't expect a covid type mask to do, get an industrial one. I'm nearly 77 and I got that far by being obsessive about my safety. It's a horrible way to die, lung cancer. Great video though.
Been there done that many times. I always wear a mask. Wheat dust is the worst. You can't replace your lungs. You get one set only.@@NewAgeCustomFarming
Dudes 💯 correct my dad worked at a grain elevator from the time he was 16, so most of his short life... 26 years of breathing the dust is an absolute killer, milo dust is the worst of all of it though !!!
@@NewAgeCustomFarming yeah I thought that’s what kind they were, me and a few guys on my crew been wearing them about 6 months now, they are pretty good boots👍
@@NewAgeCustomFarming hey, the reason I said I know your daddy is proud is bc I thought you were a young teenager in this short. Was the first one I had seen. I know he’s still proud though. ❤️. Love the videos
Could be a moisture sample. They also sample to see how much foreign material is in the load. Both can incur a dockage of the load if either is too high.
@NewAgeCustomFarming I had to go without a shirt when the air was acting up in the combine, and I can tell you from 30+ years of farming bean dust is itching. At the end of the day, you can feel the dust on you, and you can't wait to shower, and that's being fully clothed. So I call BS, short shorts are for views.
So, so, sooo many things that I could say about this video...but I'll just keep it short and say Thanks honey, it's been a damn fine pleasure seeing you today! 😊
That’s why when I ordered my last hopper I put electric doors , electric tarp and vibrators on the doors. I could unload it and never get out or get dusty!! 😂😂 Was a sweet ride..
Stupid question as a grain scale operator is there alot of walking and standing?? I wanted to apply for an opening but have had 4 major ankle surgeries and hard to stand for long periods of time. Thank u in advance
Just on your statement alone, you should not go near any job that requires manual labor of any kind. Maybe a toll booth operator, parking lot attendant, Walmart greeter, T.S.A. x-ray tech for baggage, there are lots of jobs that won't shatter your glass ankles. It's not worth being permanently disabled because you slipped on some soybeans. Or maybe a police officer? They sit around quite a bit and if you don't want to run just get a K-9 and let him do the rest.
You got it so easy. Try unloading bakery or bloodmeal. That is the most miserable unload ever. Sticks in hopper so you are inside of it vibrating and shoveling it out of the hopper and bloodmeal is super heavy flows better than bakery but still needs help and moisture clumps it up quick. Then you hat any on you and it smells so bad. It’s basically roadkill in a dried form sprayed on you.
That’s why last hopper I bought I ordered electric doors and tarp, along with dual vibrators . 3 hopper with spread axle!! Never touched the trailer to load or unload all control from cab!! That dust will cover you up!!
Ok ok.. as long as you're true to the land and God you're good to go oh yeah, and to your grandmother and grandfather and your great-grandmother and your great-grandfather then you're definitely good to go 👍🧐
To check for foreign material. In a bean load small chunks of rock, thrashings, or other material works it's way to the bottom of the truck during transit.
Just a quick note, place the handle so you're pushing down. Pulling up, you could get a hryvnia, in your intestines. It happens to women 6 times more then men. Stay safe out there.
