NOTE ABOUT LANDING: There is a reason I suggest taking the DBX or Asp X (and went in a DBX myself) - the terrain is VERY rough and you'll basically be unable to land an Anaconda or large class ship here. It's *never* a good idea to bring a large ship when doing planetary stuff, especially Guardian or Thargoid sites - leave the big pig at home and take a small ship for this.

Worth mentioning though, out of my lessons learned, for anyone who never used an SRV before, when following this trip: Personally I'd recommend to take your time testdriving your SRV on the various resourcespots on the same moon, where the guardian site is based collecting material, which will come handy when doing the site. At least collect sulfur and phosphorous and get familliar with refining ammo, fuel and repairs for the SRV out of your collected mats and get used to the handling of the SRV, its thrusters and turret. This will help you a lot on the guardian site, where (especially, when you're new to the SRV) you will need to reload the weapon, and maybe refuel the SRV, at least once. For repairs, it should still work to board your ship, but it'd be handy to repair the SRV on the fly with the mats you gathered before. Anyways, thx for this guide.

Thanks man, awesome clear instructions! Important notes to this that make it easier: - Take a small ship so you can park really really close (preferably inside the ruins) - The sentinels are much more of a pain as the video above describes. - Take point 2 or 3 defenses with you and make sure they are located on top of your ship not on its bottom. The point defense on your ship will take out the inbound missiles from the sentinels. point defense modules located on the bottom of your ship won't be able to get a clear shot to the sentinel missiles. Relog if you want everything, you can only activate the site once
@TheCzechmate007
@TheCzechmate007 4 года назад
The sentinels are piece of cake... All you need to do is repair your SRV with premium, load your repeater with premium ammo and dont be scared... When they appear, just put 3 pips in weapons and in 15 seconds they explode in a beautiful blast... When they fire missiles, just quickly put 4 pips to shields, when missiles hit you, nothing much happens, then pips to weapons and continue...

Great walk through! It was tough. Made the HUGE mistake of going first with my Anaconda. Had to drive several Kms to get there. Only to have my vehicle destroyed. Came back in my Asp Explorer and landed at the site and the Point Defense works great. Still ended up losing both of my vehicles, mainly panicking and driving to fast. Luckily there was a massive ship-station a mere 262 lys away and I restocked. Third time knocked it out. So fun! Could not have done it without this. I watched several of these and yours was easily the best. Thanks again!!

Couple other things worth mentioning: 1. There is a time limit to activate all the pylons. 2. Make sure you have materials to synthesize SRV ammo/fuel before heading out. 3. Sentinels will attack you but they are easy to focus fire. 4. If you park your ship close and it is equipped with point defense, then the point defense from the ship will destroy any Sentinel launched missiles, protecting you in your SRV.

@kevinl.705
@kevinl.705 4 года назад
Ok Commanders let me start by saying that after all of the ship building and travel, about an hour total, the 3 sentinels that you encounter right away are tough to deal with. Hilly, low gravity planet makes fighting them 100% more difficult. Bring 2 srv's because the closes station is 200 ly away. You are not going to just drive up and casually knock off 2 sentinels and collect your materials. If you are a trader or explorer brush up on srv combat because you will need it. Exigeous's gift of understatement will make you think that it is, 'Just a walk in the park Kijansky'. Going back in!

Sorry for the lengthy post, but I wanted to share my experiences here. I went to the site yesterday and was lucky enough to arrive there at daylight. Even so, when sitting in the SRV it is easy to lose your orientation and I had to use my camera several times in the beginning to get my bearings back. I did find a landing spot for my ASP Explorer very close to the site (5 o'clock if you consider the terminal at 12 o'clock). In fact it was so close to the one pylon there that I almost had trouble charging it since you have to have some distance from the ship to use your turret. But good of course for the Point of Defences (I had two on the top) to shoot down the missiles from the sentinels. I still got toppled a few times from their attacks, but it was manageable. The pylons come out when you drive by closely, so you may want to raise them all before you start charging them (that way you can also get rid of most sentinels already). In any case your guide was extremely helpful and I got the blueprint on my second try. I ran out of time charging because I did not find the next pylon in time, but fortunately the pylons stay up, you just need to re-start the charging with the ones at the terminal. As it turned out the "hardest" part was in fact to get enough technology components. I had to re-log twice only to get those components. As somebody pointed out below, their spawn rate is much lower than for the power cells. When logging out the game warned me about "dangerous zone" and "respawn in a safe distance", so I boarded my SRV to be on the safe side, but after logging back in my ship was in fact still at its parking spot, which made the grind a lot easier. Final Note: I went to the neighbour system after it, because the megaship The Gnosis was incidentally in the area. When I scanned the system I found there is another Guardian Site there as well. After some googling I found out it is a site for weapon blueprints (e.g. Cannon site has a list of all Guardian Sites and their status). So if you are after both types of blueprints it could save you some travelling around (I did not check it out myself though). Again thanks for the video, great work. And also some good additional advice from the comments here, thanks to those commanders as well.
@JamesOfKS
@JamesOfKS 4 года назад
i parked mine just after 6 o clock from the primary pylon. worked great to shoot down all missiles with point defense. do it 2-3 times you'll get the feel for where the pylons all are. i drive around in turret mode with the scoop down really slow so i can target the things i want to scoop up. this also helps visibility as you can look around while driving.
@SeamusDonohueEVEOnline
@SeamusDonohueEVEOnline 6 лет назад
Some additional notes that others may find helpful: When shooting the Energy Pylons, you have to KEEP shooting until the Info panel says that the pylon is charged. At first, I only plinked at the first two pylons a few times and then couldn't understand why the other pylons weren't showing up. A Diamondback Explorer has a more options for landing near the site than a Krait Mark 2, but it's still tricky. The other four pylons only rise up out of the ground once an SRV gets close. But, once they are sticking up out of the ground, any energy weapon will charge them, including ship-mounted. If you've got a friend with you flying a ship, then a fixed beam laser will charge the pylon. ...or you can just drive around, get all of the pylons to stick up out of the ground, and then get back in your ship and use your ship-mounted weapons (if you'd like to charge the pylons without worrying about being ambushed by Guardian Sentinels /while/ shooting the pylons). Whoever is flying needs to know that the pylons face outwards AWAY from the center of the site. This same flying friend can also help kill the Guardian Sentinels. They can be hit with fixed beam lasers. I didn't always feel like fighting those Sentinels in my SRV, so I sometimes drove back to my ship, took off, and used my fixed beam laser to kill the Sentinels, landed, got in my SRV again, and looted the parts. The Sentinels barely move at all, so aiming shouldn't be an issue. Sentinels don't show up on ship's sensors, unless the Sentinel is explicitly attacking the ship. If whoever is flying can't see the Sentinels, the SRV may need to shoot the Sentinels first so that the flying friend can see where the shots are going. If you're alone, it helps a lot to do this during the "day" when you can see the terrain. The moon has an orbital period of 1.2 Earth Days. If it's nighttime at the site, log out 20 kilometers away and come back in a few hours to see if it's day, yet. If you've got a flying friend to help you, then the ship-mounted lights might be able to substitute for day.
@NickCHEMIN
@NickCHEMIN 6 лет назад
I'll add here, I went by myself and fought all the sentinels in my SRV as well as doing the event, because of that I ran out of ammo in my SRV with no materials to synthesise any more so I couldn't collect all the Guardian Power Cells and Guardian Technology Components. Either use your ship weapons but with the time it takes to land it's tricky, stuff disappears or make sure to have some materials for ammo. Don't be like me forced to fly back to the bubble.

Great video, thank you. Might be worth stressing that you can ONLY get one blueprint (either weapon or module as relevant) at a time from any of these Guardian sites. Managed to finish this thing today. Fighting the drones was easy, then during the "light the beacons" part, it got slightly harder with 3 drones attacking at the same time, fortunately, they aren't much of a challenge when using tactics and taking them out one by one. But when they topple you over all you can do is to sit and watch as you spin around, hopefully not heading down the hill... annoying. The most difficult thing was to get the damn ship to land so you can board with the SRV. I found a good landingspot in the actual base (Using a diamondback explorer) but from cause of habit i pressed depart and thought "Crap!!!" I had to try 7-8 times to recall the ship before it landed on a somewhat flat part and i could reenter, all other times it just hovered 10 meters over the ground, once it got to a good spot, but i flipped over and my jet was disabled (thank you for that dumb limitation). Whoever who thought that the mission would be a good idea to have on a non-flat planet should get slapped in the face by Braben.

Did the HD63154 several times yesterday (damn the drop rate on guardian tech modules) and its still pretty much good. Couple things should be said though (adding to the point you already made): 1. There are more types of the destructible panels than those pillars. Before mode switching/reloading check those as well, you don't have to do the whole site over if you need just a couple of pieces 2. There is more scans/materials that can be collected on this site, but I understand the focus was on obtaining FSD booster.

Just did this on Krait Phantom. Here are few things I found useful to know: - Phantom is probably largest vessel you can park within the site. It is VERY mountaneous. The landing position was so tight I was literally tapping on controls ever so slightly to catch it. Do not be lazy and outfit smaller ship. For phantom owners: try parking at 40.8028, -106.4980 heading 215, it may take a few minutes to find blue spot. - Point defence works like charm. Put two of these on side slots of your Phantom and not a single rocket will hit you. Make sure they are stocked with ammo. Make sure they are not offline. - Consider doing this solo. I arrived at the place in Open Play and 3 more commanders arrived while I was searching for a landing spot. Some pilots are not very attentive while doing landing maneuvers and could damage your ship. Even if your partner lands further away (and will rely on your ship's PDD to protect him) it can still bug the pylon event. We activated all pylons but terminal just wont accept the relic. Other commander bailed out after few unsuccessful attempts to fix it and then terminal magically worked. - Make sure that you have SRV ammo and fuel, bring materials for one recharge for each SRV. Unless you cleared a lot of guardian ruins before and can do it reasonably fast. - Manage your energy. Sentinels will not be able to damage your SRV shields much if you put 2-3 pips on SYS (unless you facetank it). Terminal is positioned in such a way that you would need to boost SRV up. Do not let your capacitors deplete or you risk falling or facing enemies without shields. - Explore facility carefully before activating pylons. This will likely activate most hiding sentinels thus allowing you to deal with them one by one. They have quite a lot of health, so I would not recommend driving around and poking pylons randomly - you very easily get swarmed. - Be mindful of terrain. The facility is on plato with canyons on either side. It is not improbable that you will lose your SRV by falling there. You could consider bringing two of these just in case. - Daylight helps. I know it is not something we can control, but Night Vision is useless in terms of giving you terrain awareness compared to shadows from a star and ship manufacturers refuse to put auxiliary lights around/below their ships, so you will only properly see a small cone forward. I arrived right at the end of night and morning hit when we were trying to fix Terminal, quite unlucky.

When I went to one, there were so many hills, I had to land 100km away from the area! When I finally got there, I was so careless I had 44% Hull left and tried my best not to get destroyed by the sentinels. After I was done and got all the stuff for the blueprint, I had an insane 10% left (good job me) and so I called in my ship but it wouldn’t land so I kept driving for hours trying to find a good landing area, but I was really cautious because I had 1% left. Finally my Asp landing and got in. That would be like the most intense moment I ever had playing Elite and I had quite a lot.

Here are some more tips: get used to your SRV getting stuck on every random piece of detritus strewn around the site. I mean stuck: you'll have to rock the SRV back and forth with thrusters/switching between forward and backward, etc. I don't know if the site is ever in sunlight, but the place is DARK, and the pylons are nearly impossible to find. Even a map is useless, because it's impossible to tell where you are at any given time. I tried to fly the free camera up to get the layout, but it's too dark to see anything except what's lit by my SRV lights. So far, I've been driving around this place for 2 hours and I've managed to turn on 3 pylons, none of which I can find again after they have powered down. Edited: No idea how long a day is on that rock, but I went back a day later and the site was in sunlight. It is oriented east-west, with the machine you're trying to energize at the far west. You don't have to shoot a pylon to make others come out of the ground; whenever you get near a pylon, it rises up out of the ground. You can use this to find all six before you start powering them up.

Great vid! I went specifically to get the FSD boost but ended up getting all 6 modules. I did land an Anaconda but as pointed out multiple times it's very difficult to land near the site without being inside the danger zone. I was able to land a bit outside and didn't mind the relatively short SRV drive to the site as it kept my ship safe from attack.
@AlvinBrinson
@AlvinBrinson 3 года назад
Things you DO NOT mention in your video that people will CERTAINLY need to know. 1) How nearly impossible it is to land unless you know the EXACT coordinates. Even if you are in an Asp X. The coordinates you need are 40.7918 -106.4928 285 degrees Also, you will need to make sure you know your STRAFE keybinds as the normal turning thrusters will cause your ship to wander while turning. You must be at that EXACT coordinate to land, not one iota off. Other spots may work but nobody will be able to find them without help or spending hours. 2) You MIGHT run out of SRV FUEL. You MUST bring SULPHUR and PHOSPHOROUS. If you are new and want to explore the site first you will use a lot of SRV fuel. If you want to reset and do again, you'll use even more. Many of us have never used our SRV long enough to run it out of fuel. It can't be refueled while on the mission without using Synthesis of Sulphur and Phosphorous. While experienced players may have this in their stock, many newer players DO NOT. 3) You run a HIGH chance of RUNNING OUT OF AMMUNITION in the SRV. In my case, I ran out of Ammo right as the last set of guardians spawned after I unlocked the data terminal. Because of this I was completely unable to access the data terminal as I could not get an artifact (no ammo) and was being swarmed by Guardians. Again, you MUST bring SULPHUR and PHOSPHOROUS. If you run out of ammo before getting the blueprint (as I did) and do not have the materials to synthesize more, your mission is a complete waste of time. You have to fly to the nearest dock, repair/refuel, and then go find somewhere to farm sulphur and phosphorous to restock your SRV. Or you just sell your empty SRV and buy a restocked one at the dock (wtf?). Then go gather those mats so next time when you run out of ammo (because you're a noob and don't land 100% of your shots), you won't have to scrub the mission. It seems Frontier Dev made this mission not difficult but ANNOYING and needlessly time wasteful. Why in 3306 we can't just store some extra SRV fuel and Ammo in a cargo hold is effin beyond me. I just wasted my entire evening because neither you nor any of the other videos I watched mentioned any of these things. Please, no offense, but when you do a "tutorial video" please do not leave out important information just because you as an experienced player assume everyone already knows.

The only question not answered here is: how did you know? I.e., how am I supposed to figure this out in-game? As near as I can tell, the procedure for getting a Guardian FSD booster can be written down in about 7 simple steps, half of which involve google (e.g., google to find what planets have the guardian bases on them and their coordinates). With something like 0.015% of the galaxy discovered so far, it seems unlikely that someone would stumble on these answers, so it stands to reason that there should be an in-game way of finding them...
@Exigeous
@Exigeous 6 лет назад
I knew because I'm connected to the game, forums, etc. and it was in the patch notes (and actually made an appearance months ago and was, shockingly bugged). But your point is 100% valid - there is essentially no in-game way to know, other than to go to a technology broker and see what they offer.

Most of the news are galactic gossip (still a nice way to have some kind of presence during long travels) but once in a while there is valuable intel, like weird signals detected in this on that sector. You should tune it, it helps. And if some info interests you, you can check out the galnet website for more details.

I find it odd that in order to play a particular game well, one must seek out and reference third-party developed materials that must be stumbled across, and then immerse yourself in all that just to become curious enough to seek out things like what this video is about. Unless ... the whole point is to force players into third-party information sources and forums! Odd game design to say the least, and not noob friendly.

@@bruced9786 When Niantic released Ingress in 2012, you could play it, but in order to play Ingress effectively, you had to consume out-of-game materials and link up to a local community and become part of a group. The game is heavily biased to organized player action. Now look at edsm, eddb, inara, the fuel rats organisation, the iridium wing and the likes. In a way, E:D is very similar: You can play it alone and the game alone, but in order to play it effectively, you need to join a group of people, and connect yourself to out-of-game tooling. And for the same reason: Ingress is played on the whole of planet earth, and requires physical outdoor action, E:D is played on the whole (virtual) galaxy. Thanks for this guide. There are several problems there: 1. You cannot land close to the guardian structure. To find a suitable landing place is PAIN, even for a small ship. 2. When you activate first of the 2 main pylons, there is a COUNTDOWN like 6 mints, which you must manage to activate the rest pylons. Prepare for sentinel attacks too. There is a small time bonus for each pylons 3-6, though. You can easily miss them, because they are hidden in the ground. Watch the ground and listen to the emerge sound. 3. To collect necessary materials is second pain, the SRV has cargo for 2t only. 4. Thanks to the several carriers nearby (aka Aisling's Valhalla), there you can repair and refuel! 5. I hate those type of missions. What about you? :-)

He also does not tell you that it is essential you have cargo holds on your ship. I originally took my explorer which has no cargo holds to maximize LY per jump. Woops. Forgot where the base was relative to the ship. Drove around lost for 15 mins. FINALLY find the base. Took out 2 sentinels while driving around confused for another 10 mins. At last, I find the pillars that rise out of the ground. I’m jacked by 2 more sentinels. A couple of missiles flip me over and I land wedged between a stupid little rock and a pillar. Unable to move I route power to shields and try and inch/trust my way out. Too bad for me because the sentinels actually kill me. I respawn (at least I don’t have a rebuy screen) 20Km above the planet. Find a parking spot in only 5 mins. Go to deploy SRV....My SRV is gone. FUUUUUUUKKK!!!!

I got a bit confused because things seem to have many names... blueprint segment, blueprint fragment, encoded material or encoded data or just data I am not sure if those are same thing, or different things...

I did this on horizon 2 days ago, scanned the orb, went all the way back to the bubble, check with techbroker, no guardian fragment….. i hope this gets sorted

Has anything in this tutorial been changed (after a patch) since this video was posted a year ago? Thanks.
@Exigeous
@Exigeous 4 года назад
Nope, not really - there are some additional sites you can use to find things but everything in this is still 100% valid. For the future so you'll know I keep on top of all my old videos and will plaster a big, fat "NERFED" on the thumbnail and in the title if things ever change. Actually the one thing that did change - and the description and my first comment say, is the requirements went DOWN since making the video ;-)

I just unlocked this. I Installed it on my Diamondback Explorer with it's grade 5 engineered FSD. 61 Ly jump range now. I love it! Power management is now a little tricky however.

Glad you enjoyed it and it was helpful. While Frontier and some other channels might waste your time my goal is not to - I know you'd rather play than listen to videos on how to play so I make them as short and to the point as is possible.

Does the type of focus crystal matter “regular”, Refined, exquisite?

"Focus crystals" implies the regular (I believe G3?) kind

Nothing special really, super duper A class FSD with increased range & mass manager, and essentially nothing else no hardpoints and just one heatsink, 3D overcharged powerplant, 5D engine focused distributor . 5D DD thrusters and all the possible weight saving mods you can find, lightweight sensors being the biggest distance gain. Then I slapped a scoop, scanners and a srv bay on it and called it a day. I can maybe squeeze another LY out of her before im done. Btw you can probably make a better build I dont really know what i'm doing lol

Tip to everyone: use nightvision on the SRV... You will see everything, I was becoming mad because I couldn't see sh*t... also, Focus Crystals are a damn problem to get, even more if you dont have a combat ship/or just dont want to do combat, i have left to get the Crystals and i might do it tomorrow... (i think the shock mounts are buyable so i will not worry about them)
@Cigaro_
@Cigaro_ 4 месяца назад
Update from today: Focus crystals are easy as f** to get, just go to Dav's Hope and do the little route to get materials, in maybe 50 minutes i got 24 + a lot of other materials... last to get: 8 shock mounts.

Using your codex and pilot handbook are great tools for learning about what's possible in the game. You can look up guardians and their structures and that would get you on the right track. This game is extremely complex, but it actually does provide you with more information than most people realize. Especially since the April update it's easier than ever to find things to do.

What a massive over-sight in game design to have a game where in the future spaceships are built to explore the galaxy but can’t land anywhere or hover long enough to drop/pickup a vehicle. Sure my ship can take off and land on its own but god forbid we be able to land anywhere near a site we’re other species clearly landed at as well. I hope whoever designed this location jams their toe on something for every minute a player spends trying to park at this site.

at 00:57 you are creating a trip to the system we see on screen but in the next 4 secs you say you go to another one !! its ok but when i arrived there, there was no such planet named B3A and i had a little sweat rush in case the video was wrong but when i saw the rest of the video i heard to what system you went at the end
