I've been playing Elite Dangerous since 2016, with over 7,000 hours I've done just about everything there in Elite Dangerous. I mostly engage in PvP piracy, PvP combat, Thargoid and guardian content and a little exploration. The channel will primarily focus on Elite Dangerous tutorials for new players with the goal of being as clear, concise and to the point as possible so you can learn Elite Dangerous as quickly and easily as possible. If you run Efficient Plasma Slug PACs on your Vette, you can do some serious damage. I went with Overcharged Plasma Slug on one of my builds. Its single shot damage is insane but it does heat me up like crazy. Good thing I don't have to shoot very much lol! I did some numbers too, and you could do 586 damage per shot if you run Short Range and synthesize premium ammo.
Agree with you 💯 percent brother. I have put quite a few live service games down do to hackers destroying the game. Can't stand a hacker. If your gonna play the game play it right. If not take that hacking ass bullshit somewhere else. I absolutely love Elite Dangerous and really hope I never have to put it down because it's overrun with hackers or for any reason. Thankfully ignorance is not consider "doing something wrong". Things I've learned: Fuel star filter for designing routes. Pip Management. Power management. I have no need for anything else... but the space to explore.
The little suggestion written at 3:00 circa of the video, passes unnoticed but maybe is one of those things mentioned and not much well explained in the video that would have been worth mentioning with voice and explained. Video is way too fast and does give for granted UI use and other things that instead player that from scratch would like to know can't learn from here...
I'd like to become a fuel rat, but I'm in Solo still learning the ropes. As for now, I'm content running medical supplies and food stuffs to disaster relief... just finished supplying Rhea 3 in my "A" class Cobra III.
I know this guide is rather old now (I just did this last night) but is this process specifically for the fsd booster or do you get a different blueprint if you do it again? Appreciate anyone's response 👍🏻
It's been a while since I've last seen you post a new video, but I just want to say that I really appreciate you having put up all of these quick tutorials. I'm finishing up some of my engineers and these have been very useful.
Log in log out is terrible trash. However this is one good video u made, I don't like all as they are pseudo short and hard to understand, but this one is well done.
OH awesome stuff, thank you, you've saved me a tonne of time here, it would have taken me a while to figure out the inverse relationship between heat exchange and heating. I've been experimenting with power distribution, power plants, shields and weapons on, what I've decided to call my, krait phantom 'ice cold killer'. I've been testing with different beam laser and also rail guns along with my cannon or cannons, your info here has shown me exactly what I needed to know to understand why I couldn't get myself a good balance between cooling for shield regen and cooling for railguns. I'm now, after watching this, putting the railguns away, leaving me with: a low emission power plant with 2 long range gimbled beams that thermal vent, and with that two long range auto reloading cannons on the large mounts, the thermal vent pretty much means that I can call on the shield bank whenever I want, and I've A nice gentle use of my pips to get devastating efficiency from the build; Loving it! The cannons hardly drain anything from the distributor, so shields have been stripped I can wack all power to engine and shield, and thump them into oblivion with the very awesome and often, it would seem, underestimated cannons. The build with full shields, shield banks armor and module protection, is spot on the minimum weight for my thrusters. (Still only G3 dirty tuned drag drives) as I've yet to unlock the higher grades. Until then, this will be my ride.
That said, i've now spotted that the thermal vent works better with the armored power plant, than with the low emissions, presumably for the same reason, not enough heat being generated.
I don't understand people complaining about how poorly this pays. Seems that's kind of the point. They aren't trying to reward people for being bad people. Not every job should pay the same. Does this effect the BGS in any way? Can it be used to hurt a faction? Or is it just a way to get some materials?
I love ED but odyssey missions are trash. I have all the odyssey engineers unlocked and nearly all my loadouts are max level and engineered but what then?? The process of unlocking engineers and leveling gear means I have already been exposed to all of the content. So what do I do with all my levelled gear?? The same stuff I have been doing all along? Nah, I'll just stick to flying my cool spaceships. What a waste
Well, it looks like I do 3 things right... probably. I started playing ED back in 2017 or so, and seven years later I don't even try to do what I know I should do. Why? Because I still don't know how to do them using my mouse and keyboard. I don't know which keys and buttons to push because no one (especially Frontier) provides basic instructions. And I'm talking really BASIC. For instance, I would love to gather minerals and materials from the many planets I visit. I even have an SRV to putter around in, but I'll be damned if I know how to aim its gun at a target without having to aim with the entire SRV. Doesn't the gun have a swivel or something so you can point it at something simply and quickly? Probably, but hell if I know what button or combination to push. I still haven't figured out how to keep the SRV from lurching around after I've come to a stop, so I prefer not to drive it at all. When I look for lifeforms to scan, I WALK to them. It's much less frustrating than fighting with SRV controls. Oh, and if I walk too far from my ship (a mistake, probably), the damn thing takes off without me and leaves me stranded on the planet surface. I guess I could recall it, but... how? What button do I push to bring it back? Frontier doesn't tell me. So, if I happen to be high up on a cliff, the easiest thing to do is to jump off and commit suicide. So, I don't mine because I don't know what controls to use... I don't fight other ships because I can't maneuver too good or set the guns up properly... I don't filter out non-scoopable stars, but I don't run out of fuel either because I have three huge tanks and a big fuel scoop to keep them full with. Yeah, I was pledged to some Imperial lady, but I wasn't doing anything for her because I had other priorities; now I'm pledged to Zachary Hudson, but only so I can gain some Federation rank and visit Earth for the first time in 7 years. As for those pips... well, I still accidentally press my pip buttons when I just want to manueuver the ship a little. But since all I really need is an engine boost when I'm landing on some planet, I pretty much leave them alone. Anyway, I would do more if I knew how to do them. Maybe instead of simply telling your viewers WHAT to do, you could spend a few seconds telling them HOW to do things, too. Heck, even Frontier could do that... probably.
There was a game back in the day called Philosophers something or other. Like original Elite on the Commodore 64 with cassette tape input. You played blind. Devilishly clever game.

Honestly I feel the drop out anywhere in a system shouldn't be a hack or cheat, I find it hard to believe that, that far into the future we couldn't calculate how and where to drop out in a system, sure the biggest gravity source is simple but if we can put a probe or Rover on Mars in an exact landing spot why can't we drop out of supercruse at earth instead of the star?
God, i love the depth of this game. A shame im only now getting into it. I hope they dont shut the servers down and end support any time soon lol. I just got my 2nd ship (hauler) and enjoy the game so much I already bought a HOTAS (X52) and set up my Quest 2 (already owned) for PCVR. Its probably the best VR game I've tried.
Tip to everyone: use nightvision on the SRV... You will see everything, I was becoming mad because I couldn't see sh*t... also, Focus Crystals are a damn problem to get, even more if you dont have a combat ship/or just dont want to do combat, i have left to get the Crystals and i might do it tomorrow... (i think the shock mounts are buyable so i will not worry about them)
Update from today: Focus crystals are easy as f** to get, just go to Dav's Hope and do the little route to get materials, in maybe 50 minutes i got 24 + a lot of other materials... last to get: 8 shock mounts.
In the Conda build above, it has several engineered modules. Should they be engineered before the trip out or keep them standard and engineer them IN colonia?
I cannot set priority to my power plant. It has no number. Other modules has 1-4, but power plant cannot be set to any number. It is empty there, and I cannot do anything. I can't retract my hardpoint, and can't recall my fighter. Is this a huge bug?
This video is fantastic. The problem is that for a new player is very hard very very hard to process all these informations watching it once and ...maybe this is worth to watch once one has a ship and has to decide to mount this stuff or has played and fought at least 50 100 times.. otherwise at least for me it's very hard to process all these info and keep them with me. I think you made it very clear anyway, the work in this video is OUTSTANDING.
The thing of creating quests and creating emergent gameplay to break the farming and grind is very important and good stuff. Not all have a creative mind or run out of creativity at some point and need some good quests etc. This stuff is genial, adding content to the experience with taste and style. Bravo. It would be cool if here and there there could be also on foot stuff, I understand this touches an open nerve in general in the old guard and so on, but I mean besides Frontier devs ahving to improve Odyssey for sure and really, anyway this thing u created could also help that instance as the feeling of trading would be close and personal...
This shit is way too old to be commenting on but for the hell of it, I think they're right. Could a warning have been issued first? Sure. But rules are rules and I feel like they see themselves in the same light as a "space firefighter". If someone needs them they'll be there. But someone faking a fire just to see how fast they'll get there and take videos to share with other people, might mean someone across town dies because their thin resources couldn't be applied where it was actually needed. IRL you can get a bastard of a fine for calling emergency services without need. Same thing.
Imagine. You're flying around the vastness of dead space. This is your game. You're not likely to see another player very often if at all, and being social with random players isn't likely to happen even if you do happen across someone in one of the hundreds of billions of systems available to you. So what do you do? You log in for open play, where the only person You're actually likely to encounter, if anyone at all, is some asshat trying to gank you for shits and giggles. And then go look up a guide on how to survive a gank. The answer to that is simple, and guaranteed to work every time... Play solo...

I also lost about 500 mil worth of exobiology data I was holding onto for rep grinds. So yeah, don't be a dumbass like me and just take the safe trip back probably.

Do not waste your time doing this as soon as you join the power; your merits reset after one week. If you want to be at rank 3 when 4 weeks pass, do this on week 3. Huge oversight not explicitly stating this in the video or adding a pinned comment.
