Your video also underscores how having the correct leadership / government administration that understands the basics of economic management is absolutely critical to our investments. If I as a Zambian will shun a bond because the inflation rate is at 15%, don't expect investors to come flocking. At the very least, any administration we put into office must keep basic economic indicators at bay. When we begin to think about how our own money and investments are in danger through economic chaos, we will stop taking gambles with leadership. These two are directly linked. I hope my generation can begin to educate themselves on economic indicators and fundamentals and how we as the people determine our economic future. It's critical to understand the potential policies / economic agenda of anyone wanting to lead this country. Thanks for this video!

Now is the right time. If you really want to grow your money and attain financial independence. Start investing, that's the best way to accumulate wealth. Spent my 30s and 40s investing in stock and several multifamily real estates. That’s the best I did for myself as it has consistently beaten my expectations of a return. For this reason, It's important to have a solid support structure (financial consultant) to guide you through especially in asset picking. I operate with (Alexandra Diana Jose) a consultant who partners with a licensed wealth management firm. For the record, the experience has been the best for my finance. She made me financially stable investing through her help, now I earn on a monthly basis through her passive income strategy... So I'd advise you do get a good investment advisor for yourself.

So if I have a K600 000, and spread the investment into 6 government bonds bought at K100 000 monthly for a 10 year bond then I would have a coupon income of k13 000 monthly for the next 10 years. This looks better than building 2 houses in Lusaka. Is there a limit in the number of bonds one can buy?

Thank you so much, this is insightful, but I still do not understand why, in order to calculate for the face value of a bond, you are multiplying 100,000 and 100 then dividing the product by the cut off cost.

This answered many questions i had thank you so much....I did not know about the inflation affecting government bonds especially long term ones... Can you make a part 2 of this video where you now break down different figures like the example you gave on a k100,000 bond. Except showing by writing how you are doing the calculations. It would really help learn how I could do my own calculations in the future.

I have K50,000 to start with. So I was thinking that I can grow it through 3 or 6 months treasury bills. This way I get the maturity payment and maybe add onto it with other funds i may have sourced during the same period and reinvest it. Do you think its a sound plan?

You're welcome! In answer to your question, yes, the Zambian government has issued international bonds in foreign currencies such as the US dollar and euro in the past. For instance, in 2012, Zambia issued a $750 million Eurobond with a 10-year maturity and a 5.625% coupon rate. Regarding sukuk bonds, to the best of my knowledge, Zambia has not yet issued any sukuk bonds. As for gold bonds, I'm not aware of Zambia issuing any bonds backed by gold.

Yes, you can invest in both. It depends on your investment plan. Treasury bills are short term investments of less than 12 months. Bonds are longer term but give you biannual coupons
