Sir. Thank you so much for making this video. I had this very issue today with my Buick Encore after jumping my battery. My infotainment system displayed LOCKED. I pulled the radio fuse and I placed it back and now it works again. Thank you so much!
Your radio rebooted because it recognized the chip in the radio that has the cars serial number etched in its programming. The problem is if the cars computer cant verify that chip the radio locks. It also sometimes locks when minimal voltage or voltage anomalies occur. The dealer should know that. The main problem with locked radios is when you swap out for another radio. Serial numbers don't match. Its complicated to unlock but there are a few ways to do it. There are companies that unlock the units for about 200 bucks. A skilled auto tech can also do it with a programming tool that rewrites modules. Unfortunately most GM dealerships don't have that software in their programming units. Could be for legal reasons.
I had the same problem, brought on by using the electric park brake. My radio display went locked. This morning I went on U Tube and saw your post. I followed it and took out fuse 18, pushed it back in and HEY PRESTO it worked. Thank u much Arm Hedgecock in Bradenton Fl
Most dealer mechanics these days only seem to know how to replace parts rather than repair the faulty component. One of the headlight assemblies on my wife's Audi was cutting out and the dealer quoted around $500 to replace it. So I removed it at home and found the assembly earthed through a springy pressure contact and this contact was corroded and had signs of arcing. A couple of minutes sanding the contacts to clean smooth surfaces and slightly bending the contact to ensure good pressure and it was fixed.
I’ll give it a go tomorrow will advise I too have a 2015 Buick Verano. Just finished engine rebuild so lots was disconnected etc… so hard to say cause of locked infotainment system
