Traum, hearing him play the Liebestraume brought back memories of the first time I heard it. It was on a Monday night when I was 15 years old. For me it was magic happening; and you awakened that feeling in me again! Thank you! PS: at that time I wrote a blog (I am from Brazil) with my poems and reflections. I even wrote a reflection about this piece by Liszt. It is attached in Portuguese (of course, the reflections of an adolescent, still experiencing life and the world, but no less sincere - and it was one of my first prose texts that I brought to public): segunda-feira, 9 de maio de 2011 O que é o Amor "Amar é tão quente e frio Quanto o brio de uma Janela sem fim." Gabriel Santos Lopes Estava eu ouvindo uma música do compositor húngaro Franz Liszt, chamada Liebestraum (sonho de amor). Em toda a minha vida nunca ouvi algo tão profundo sobre o amor, exceto as passagens bíblicas dos Evangelhos. Essa música, mesmo sendo só instrumental, fala sobre o amor de uma forma geral, mas em especial o amor âgape ou universal. Traz toda uma gama de sentimentos e expressões. Mostra como o amor pode ser banal, ardente, suave, meigo, agressivo e até assustador. Então parei para refletir quando tinha terminado a música, e veio em minha cabeça: "O amor pode ser tudo, e abarca a todos. Até o ser humano mais egoísta ama, mesmo que seja a si próprio." Então lembrei de Romeu e Julieta, a cena da sacada, onde Shakespeare demonstra um amor infantil, mas doentio, frenético, mas suave, tanto verdadeiro quanto falso. O amor é somente uma emoção como qualquer outra, mas é a mais complexa e simples de se ter.

私は楽譜だけ持っててまだ譜読みも終わってないけど、この曲の最大の難関はズバリ 「弾いてる最中に感情高ぶって泣きそうになっても、難易度の高さゆえに技術面だけでいっぱいいっぱいで自分を取り繕う余裕もないこと」なんだよね… ピアノの魔術師と呼ばれた彼だけど、こういう意味でもリスト様は「罪な男」だったのかもしれない

The version of this piece I keep on hand (listening in the car) is by Gyorgy Cziffra recorded fifty(!!) years ago. Yours is, or course, not the same, but *JUST AS BEAUTIFUL* If Cziffra was world-class---and he WAS---so are you.

I remember badly playing the first 60 seconds of this piece on my very old digital piano. Now I have a upright Yamaha piano and It is my dream to finally be able to play this piece fully. Maybe it is the first ever classical piece that officially cot me into classical music, it was the first piece I. Fully listened to and greatly enjoyed.
