Learning heart murmurs can be difficult, especially in babies. This video will unlock the secret to learning baby murmurs easily using beatboxing and music. This is a short video will go over identifying S1 S2 sounds and systolic ejection and diastolic murmurs. And don't worry if you don't know this right now. You WILL at the end of the video. We will use your basic listening skills and then YOU can make the murmurs yourself as you practice them. This is such an easy way to learn and then YOU can teach others! This video is geared towards trainees and nurses who have basic understanding of the heart but who just need a little extra help with the many murmurs in the heart.
LIKEs are like little "tip jars" for me, so please, if you feel like thanking me, a LIKE will make me very happy. Thank you!

I was born with a heart murmur but don't really understand what that means. Now though since I had fainted in the 5th grade I learned I have an abnormal resting beat
@thenicudoc
@thenicudoc Год назад
A heart murmur is in its simplest form...an type of "blowing" or "rushing" sound that can be heard when you listen to the heart with a stethoscope (that tool that all doctors carry around their neck to look even more doctorly 🤣). Some murmurs are normal and not worrisome...others mean there is a real problem in the heart. Anytime you hear of someone fainting...whether with or without a murmur...that definitely warrants an immediate evaluation from the doctor. Abnormal rhythms in the heart can be normal or can be pretty serious...so important to have a specialist evaluate all heart rhythms...especially if causing fainting.
@TheSheela1
@TheSheela1 2 года назад
sir my 2 year old baby having fast heart beat my doctor said to take echo test and said haemic murmur i am so worried about this please explain about this..
@thenicudoc
@thenicudoc 2 года назад
Fast heart rate can occur due to anemia, if this is what is meant by "haemic murmur." Anemia or low hemoglobin can cause the body to increase its heart rate as a form of response to get more oxygen to the rest of the body. This higher rate (and flow) causes this extra noise (or murmur). But please discuss this with your pediatrician to make sure. Hope this helps. 🙏
@Rajesh.j
@Rajesh.j 2 года назад
Sir thanks. Pls tell about the innocent murmur
@thenicudoc
@thenicudoc 2 года назад
It is also called Still's murmur.. a soft, low tone, systolic murmur found in children (commonly in adolescents) that varies with position and there are no symptoms associated (no cyanosis, passing out, shortness of breath etc). It has to do with the sound of flowing blood in a thin and "stretching" body. Hope this helps

@thenicudoc

Premature infants commonly have murmurs due to structures that take longer to close, like the PDA or PFO. But yes... I can't say anything about your little one.. but it's not uncommon to find out later in life.

Thanks for reaching out. Murmurs can be very common. I can't speak directly about your infant but murmurs after the first week should be evaluated with an echocardiogram. I truly hope it is nothing complicated 🙏

Is murmur in diastole an s-3 sound?
@thenicudoc
@thenicudoc 10 месяцев назад
No...murmurs and S sounds are separate. Murmurs are flow sounds that come between any of the S-sounds. Murmurs are mostly longer and represent flow. S-sounds are more like "beats." Short, quick, and "thumpy." Hope this helps

Thank you. Can we have an innocent murmur between S1 and S2?
@thenicudoc
@thenicudoc Год назад
Yes..innocent murmur or stills murmur for example are common in adolescence. It has to do with the flow of blood and the shape and proximity of the heart to the chest. Some murmurs are benign, in that they cause no harm, such as a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This is a normal and natural whole between the two top chambers of the heart, the atria. This closes in nearly all babies and therefore considered benign.
