Hi there friends, in today’s video I’m going to show you how I built a fence and a retaining wall along the side of our property that we never use, but now I’m in love with. I’ve teamed up with my friends at 84 Lumber to build a 50’ long tongue and groove fence. A lot of work had to go into prepping the area before the fence could be built. Our neighbors property sits about 2 feet higher than ours, which is why we have a lot of extra dirt and soil on our property. There is no retaining wall to keep our two properties separate which is what we did by adding a retaining brick wall with three bricks high all the way down our property, this gave us a base starting height to build our fence off. We dug our post holes a little deeper than 2 feet and added a little gravel to the bottom and then concrete the post in every 8 feet. I let them sit for a few days to make sure the concrete was completely cured before adding our cross braces. Once we had all the pressure treated post and cross braces in we added the tongue and groove slats that came 12 feet long and I cut down to 6 feet. The tongue and groove fence went together, fairly quickly having a second person on hand. Thank you so much to my husband, Eric @nobadtides for all of his amazing help during the fence building process. Once the fence was up, I realize that this section of our property was extremely dark, because I had never actually hung out over there at night now that we had access to it and I was hanging out over there. I realized it was time to add lights. My friends over at XM. cozy + sent me a set of rad lights to add to the path way, as well as string lights to hang along the fence. Both set of lights are smart light switch. You can control with your phone and is extremely fun to add different color schemes as well as schedule when the lights come on and off. I gave a coat of paint and sealer to the fence using my Wagner sprayer. I gave it a few coats to make sure that it was properly sealed and then realized that the fence was extremely white and definitely needed some color and life. So I added some fun felt planters with succulents. I'll be featuring that in my next video on how I made the planter wall. Thank you so much for watching today's video. I edited this video myself (super proud) with Adobe Premiere Pro. I’ve learned everything thus far about editing via RU-vid tutorials, and a little trial and error along the way. This was the first video I figured out how to add captions, which I’ll be doing moving forward. I also learned how to blur in this video

You've made so many awesome upgrades outside your home. Have you already upgraded the inside? I remember seeing the cool plant wall, the office with the groovy paint swoops, and the sweet hallway light glow-up. What will you work on next?

Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Wow yes you have been here for a while. I did do some amazing upgrades and modifications to the childhood home. I grew up in, however, I did it before having a RU-vid channel. We do have two houses on our property so next up, I will be renovating our mother-in-law home in the rear of our property and will definitely be making some RU-vid videos around it. Thanks again for watching and commenting and for sticking around as long as you have your real champ

I would turn the side yard into wood storage. A shed roof to keep sun and rain off and wall brackets for lumber storage. Nice transformation into a usable space. Comments and questions for the next video - those planters look really cool. It'll be interesting to see how they hold up. How often will you have to water the succulents do you think? Thanks for the video.

Thank you so much for watching and commenting as far as watering. I plan to water them once a week or when the soil is dry, which might be in the colder months spread a little bit more out so every two or three weeks
