I am soon grateful for this awesome advice. I tried about 4 videos and couldn't get it to work on mine. Then I saw your use of blade and it worked! It took a few tries but really it is the thin blade that makes it work plus turning it five times. Saved me money and hassle of returning my product.
For the people who are still struggling: Apply a lot of pressure to the reset slider (I used a screwdriver) and start turning the 3rd row (nearest to the slider) till you hear a click, then the 2nd and lastly the 1st. Worked best for me took me 15 seconds to find the combination, hope that helps!
My lock combo accidentally changed after a heavy printer got dragged over it. I couldn't find the notches at all and I was so frustrated til I tried your method and it worked in less than 10 seconds! Thank you!
Almost shanked myself with a letter opener but at least I didn’t have to go through the shame of alerting anyone that I locked myself out of my office drawer. (We were told not to lock them) This is the only method that worked for me!
Kids mistakenly locked our file drawer a year ago and I’ve watched and tried dozens of videos. THIS is the one that got it unlocked. 1 razor blade 2 drive the wheel with the blade. Thank you my friend, your English was perfectly wonderful and you solved my problem!
This trick worked for me!! HOWEVER I would note that you don't have to be able to turn the dial with the blade/knife (or whatever you're using) for this to work. I spent so long trying to find a knife/tool that was both thin enough to fit between the dials, and sturdy enough to actually turn the dial. Hilariously, I actually ended up used a small makeup tester (the kind they stick inside magazines) and just turned the dials with my fingers - and it worked immediately!
Thank you SO MUCH fir your kindness in making this video. I tried all the ways.. but using a sharp little blade and inserting it vertically into the top on each left side of roller until it sank lower… then turning to -5 of each number. IT WORKED! 😅
Thank you for your explanation. I could not make it work with a knife either. I even tried with a box cutter blade without success. Although I didn't have an old style shaving blade like you used, I searched around the shop for a comparably thin piese of metal. It worked perfectly! Thanks again.
Thanks to franzlai, using the phone light instead of a blade worked for me! Looking down (birds-eye-view), you must carefully find the metal part deep inside the gap located on the left side of each number dial. Once you see the metal part, turn the dial until you see a notch/hole on the metal (this part is difficult because the gap is so tiny and and the metal part is not so visible, so it helps to look up close and turn off all lights except your cell phone). Once you have all three notches/holes facing up (i will call this "notched numbers"), it is NOT the actual combination code. Just like the guy on this video mentioned, you just need to figure out the opposite numbers of the "notched numbers" (imagine the numbers 0-9 on the dial wheel, you have to find the number on the opposite side of the wheel--or basically five numbers AHEAD of the notched numbers). For example, my notched numbers was 256, but the actual combination code is 701, which was 5 numbers ahead of 2, 5, and 6.
thanks! I was able to do it with a small pen blade on my swiss army pocket knife. I did not turn it with the blade though. i turn the number by hand and tested each number to see how far down the blade would go down into the wheel. found the numbers quickly.
Thank you! I used a small X-Acyo knife with a very narrow point. You need to hold the knife vertically and then you can feel it pushing into the notch.
even cheaper....use a business card! i tried that and it worked perfectly. it was key that he mentioned that the blade falls deeper in the gap when the wheel is turned. good luck everyone!
Thanks ! could not get this working with a normal exacto blade... went to pharmaprix and got a wilkinson blade as shown in the video for 5 bucks... Anyways so putting the corner of the thin blade and making it revolve pulling towards you as shown in the video will work... some times it takes 2-3 whole rotations to finally get that point where you feel the corner of the blade sinks deeper and does not want to turn it.... then you know it's the opposite number as seen in the video... I may be stupid but I made myself the drawing to make sure I know what the opposite number was xD good luck !
This was the 3rd video I watched to open my cabinet and the first one that worked. The others had me applying pressure while turning the numbers but by being patient and understanding the lock better I easily and quickly had my cabinet open. Thank you.
You can turn each number one at a time use razor to feel for dip on left side of each number if it goes straight across keep turning till you feel a boomp then go to next number till all three have that boomp on left side and wallah turn and unlock
Laughing at my simple mistake as I was turning it the same direction as you, but I'm sitting the opposite way. My to to others, turn the dial towards the opening of the drawers.
From the dates of the videos and the comments, it seems like this method may work best for the older Galants. I tried some of the other methods on YT which were posted in the last 2-3 years and they seem to have worked for people who acquired their drawers more recently. My guess is that this method works best for Galants bought pre-2018ish.
I figured you don't need any knife or blade. I was able to unlock it with my cellphone light as I look for the shallow hole between the gap. Once all holes facing up, turn the combination together couple times and viola! Same concept but no tools needed!

@@saltdancestudios so once all holes are facing up, those holed numbers are NOT the actual combination code.
