Don't get me wrong, I understand a population vs a corperate machine stands little chance. Unless that population forms a unionized community. My "take" is simply that personal responsiblity has to come into account after a certain point and you can't keep blaming people who see easy profit. Yeah, I'm with you. The whole Marshmello identity and him being an industry plant was a big (and already solved) topic 5 or more years ago. I already thought that everyone knew it and enjoy his music for what it is. But I guess the public consciousness is feeble in the sense that old listeners find new artists and every new listener doesn't necessarily dwell deep into every artist that they find. The whole topic of industry plants is fine by me, as long as the plants don't lie and don't try to heavily push back the fact that they are one. In the case of Marshmello brand, he hasn't confirmed nor denied the fact, which is fine by me.

Being a fan of Electronic Music & heavily invested in the scene from back in the late 2000s I definitely miss the social media days/"EDM twitter" back in 2013-2016 going down Soundcloud rabbit holes discovering lots of these artists you mentioned. And for the folks that were following all this stuff back in those days with all the names & labels mentioned like OWSLA, NestHQ & a bunch of others, within a few weeks Marshmello bursting onto the scene people quickly narrowed down the list to either Jauz or DOTCOM being Marshmello so that trick Tiesto pulled at EDC only really had shock value to the mainstage kids who had no clue of what was going on. I liked a few of his first few tracks that had heavy bass elements but I wasn't too keen on the forced beef/drama he tried starting with household names like Deadmau5 & once he fully transitioned into a Pop brand & all the "Fortnite" stuff I completely checked out. It was obviously wild seeing DOTCOM go from an average remix producer/run of the mill DJ to a global brand in real time & good on him for his success but for many purists of the wide genre of Electronic music this was a signal of the direction the whole scene was headed in with lots of promising names & even some seasoned veterans completely ditching their own sub genres/sound & switching to generic Big Room/Mainstage sound or just straight up pop music which they were just doing to try & stay relevant with the growing crowd of "mainstage" fans attending the big EDM festivals. I liked watching this cause it brought back a lot of memories & things I haven't really thought about in years tbh & you broke down a lot of the little details pretty well so even fans of this guy who may not have known his backstory can learn a few things about the scene in general.

This is exactly why Gorillaz was formed. Damon Alburn as the former frontman for Blur, saw music heading this way, as did most in the 90s and why Gen X ended up burning down Woodstock. Alburn had 4 virtual characters created to be the band, and hid his identity for years. You only interacted with Gorillaz. He stopped after getting tired of hiding his identity. Gorillas is an entire universe now.

The false allegations that’ve been launched against BJ are horrific, truly terrible life ruining stuff! The court paperwork is wild!! It would be really cool to see an update or perhaps coverage on this case since BJ can’t speak on this issue until the court case is over. I feel like it's worth mentioning that Spor isn't a side project for Feed Me. Spor existed prior to Feed Me, and was John Gooch's original alias as he got his name out there making dnb, much like how 12th Planet and Kill the Noise did the same as Infiltrata and Ewun, respectively. A more apt comparison might be to Bro Safari, which is a side project/alternate alias of a member of Evol Intent. Prime Loops also isn't a stock music website but a site to purchase sample packs to use in music.

The problem is that's not what they're doing. They're engineering satisfaction using psychological and subliminal manipulation, for maximum revenue growth. Those aren't "music scientists" those are Psych majors following the orders of MBA majors with "advice" from musicians who are cut a check and are happy to not be a "starving artist" anymore. They're more _telling_ you what and how to "feel the music" than figuring out what you actually like and catering to that. That's why MM and other industry plants are so generic and is heavily skewed to younger audiences. Because it's informed by _general_ psychology to appeal to the widest possible audience, which is maximally applicable to people at ages before they've fleshed out their own individuality (13/14 and younger).
