5:41 it took me a couple watches to realize that X didnt do the whole knock, JASPER was the one who completed the "two bits" part. LOVE their friendship
@@jcdenton4621 You would. Typical alt-right mentality, to want to murder for someone based on their looks, without any regard for the content of their character.
@@jcdenton4621 It's funny... you admit that your first reaction to someone (in this case, a fictional vampire) wearing a hoodie is to want to murder them, but you still have the nerve to try to accuse me of being the sensitive one. As usual, you redcaps accuse others of what you're most guilty of.
@@MaricKillJoy It's not though? I mean, if you're personally insulted by the portrayal then I'm sorry but I'm mentally ill and I find it humorous. Like damn, sometimes people just say stupid shit lol
@@MaricKillJoy Yup. Fishmalking at its' best, meaning it being worst, actually. But cheap laughs sell in sit-coms and they sell here. Very few Malk players go beyond wacky-ooh-look-I'm-a-lamp-post-now and this is no different. I don't allow Malkavian chars in our STs, learned that the hard, and usually nonsensical for the sake of being nonsensical, way.
Funnily enough a large minority of people embraced into Tremere had zero connection or interest into magic and the occult back when they were human, and were only embraced because they were studious and ambitious. There's even a Legacy path you can play as a Tremere where you are specifically inept at magic.
Eva: "They call themselves the Weird Sisters." X: "YES!! I'm a Hufflepuff!" Jasper (head shoots up): "Oh no..." Eva: "I'm a Ravenclaw…" God I love this show xD
It was my misfortune to be taking a sip of my drink when this scene occured and when "Jasper" looked up and went "oh no" I nearly sprayed it from laughing.
Jasper hit pretty close to the mark there indeed! The interactions between the characters and the degree to which the players role-played them was excellent in this episode!
@@NightshadeTS Bruh he made a perfume joke, she took it way too far. If you applied it to your own friends and yourself you'd be hurt af that someone threw that in your face.
@@KamakazeTaco He injects lightness when things are getting serious, and he injects seriousness when things are getting light. That's what I like about his take on the clan. There's a perfect mixture, in my opinion, of frivolity and genuine poignancy. Also, I just think he's a lovable, endearing dude.
@@mlhbro Yeah he's the kooky Saturday morning kids cartoon interpretation of insane. Its fun for a one dimensional joke. But at least he's worlds better than Annabelle.
@@KamakazeTaco Yeah, I just don't feel the same way about X as you do. He nails the skewed, almost Dada-esque form of "accidental" insight that Malkavians are noted for possessing. I find most of his interjections extremely sharp and clever. Often they come across as nonsensical, but when you least expect it, they will be infused with subtle meaning. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
@@KamakazeTaco I mean Annabelle is a martial pacifist (basically the best solution at all times is violence, but the worst solution at all times is lethal force) with higher Humanity than the average freaking human, a background in political extremism back when she was alive and a high blood potency Sire. So it is very fair to say the character she is portraying is not likeable, but I don't think she's portraying it incorrectly.
Can we just talk about the under appreciated role playing of Alex ward who plays what is basically a vampire super hit man, specifically dealing with vampires mind you let alone a petty mortal body. And the second he sees a gun he drops what’s probably his natural reaction (to fucking kill) to shield her with his body. He’s the last person in the crew who should logically do something like that, and he had his next turn start by specifically asking if she was able to take a bullet should she get hit and the only reason he leaped was because she was 10 ft in the air and he physically couldn’t stand in front of her anymore so only then he decided *guess I’ll crump this guy* and does the most efficient thing he could to disable Eva being in danger, then he turned into the perfect gentleman. I love Alexander Wards role playing.
Spoilers 56:25 Jasper (Snarkily) - "Did you buy all of it?" Nelli - "No. Your girlfriend did." *Jasper proceeds to have simultaneous heart-wrenching depression and Kill Bill sirens playing in his head.* Edit: Holy crap, guys- I didn't think I'd get this many likes. Thank you all, so much. Hahaha.
Started watching this entire series because of a tiktok of the scene at 2:26:13 and since it's taken me this long to find it (because so far I've watched every previous episode all the way through), I have grown incredibly fond of this. Now that I've been satisfied by finding the scene, I'm excited to continue the journey and complete the series.
Wow. Just wow. The scene when Victor tries to "save" the guy Nelli killed was AMAZING. I like the plot and the power struggles, but the coolest thing about this story is the relationships among these 4+ guys. Love them all, X included!
Wow. X really brought the "dark scary unfathomable world, just needing one tiny push to tumble over the edge into catastrophe" feeling there near the end.
My favorite part was when Petra posessed Nelli and you started to describe the Umbral version of the club and I caught myself whispering slowly "the Shaaadoooowlaaands.."
Immediately thought of him as well! He's one of my fav. characters...that being said, I almost always play as a Tremere so I may be a little bias, since he did give me that awesome haven, bunch of useful occult items, and doesn't double cross you if you choose to side with him!
Spoilers 1:29:00 X - "Do I get ruby earrings now?" Victor - "No, you got to do a lot more." X - "I'm down." Victor - "Wha... What even does that mean? You know what... whatever." I laughed so hard I felt tears.
@@VandalAudi I am not remotely "on the fence", 'cause we have people like Brian Mitsoda & Chris Avellone working on it, & the White Wolf people have been in close consultation too.
@@VandalAudi not gonna lie I feel the same way, something tells me that it's gonna be a cash grab or an extreme short comming all around (not just mechanically not like the OG games)
Every coterie needs a member like X. Loved his character, very entertaining AND informative, well played. Too often Malkavian players end up like cartoon characters and not kindred.
We're so fortunate to have Xander Jeannerett as our X! You can also see him on Relics and Rarities, a DnD campaign run by Deborah Ann Woll, where he is incredible.
Notifications: L.A. By Night - Season 2 Shoulder Angel: But work in the morning. Shoulder Devil: It's gonna be a slow day at work. Me: It's nice when you guys can compromise.
At first I didn’t really like X, but now I really do. It is such a relief to have him guest star. Even though he is very expressive and over the top it fits. I kind of prefer him to Annabelle. Hopefully she chills a bit as the seasons go on.
Damn, now I'm not sure if it's Jasper x Anabelle or Jasper x Eva. Lol. But for real, I love the interactions Jasper has with people. He's by far my favorite character. Just the amazing character and interactions brought to the story with him is superb. I love everything about Jasper. 13/10 best Kindred. EDIT: Even though I know Jasper did that thing with his girlfriend...that was heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Also, ow that last scene...oof.
Either way, that was one of my favorite parts of the episode. X: your name is Petranella? Nelli: shhhh! X: sounds like a scented candle.. sorry. Jasper: that's citronella... X: same thing. Jasper: yeah. X: just more patronizing. Jasper: (giggles)
You know, as much as I miss Annabelle this episode, its interesting to see Jasper, Nelli, and Victor's dynamics without her. Like, obviously they've all changed throughout the first season, and that definitely comes through this episode, but it also feels like just for this chapter they've slightly regressed into their pre-stream selves
Watched all these on Geek and Sundry. Here showing my love. Oh Nelli...committing murder most foul are we? Your grip on control is seeming to slip. Poor Victor also seems to be losing his cool as well.
2:26:13 “I maybe unpleasant looking on the outside, but you’re ugly on the inside. And the more you lose control, the more everyone sees it.” OMG this is so cold and so genius, especially the latter sentence. God I hope I can pull something off like this when I’m roleplaying. HOW DID HE DO THAT PLEASE TEACH ME
Season 2 finally!!! I get to start with Xander too, amazing man and vampire. Thank you Jason Carl for leading everyone in an amazing game. Nelli is more beautiful then ever, Victor is King, and Jasper.... well... no can beat Jasper. I am glad to to be able to relax and enjoy this new season.
So happy for this second season! I think Victor's my favorite Ventrue I've ever seen. Also, I loved the "bonus scene" at the end of the session. Just the visuals alone, even without the speech, tells the viewer so much in mere seconds. :D
for the love of me, i don't know where these vampires store so much SHAAAAADE 🤣 and J. Carl is a delight. enjoying the 🎤🎼🎹🎶 and his vocal rythm a lot in this one!
Comedy gold between X and Jasper, they kept it together better then I could. I had to pause a few times laughing til I was crying. Jaspers dry humor, sarcastic one liners. X's witty remarks and humor. I'm enjoying his Malk portrayal. LOVE it!
Jason: “And you, X, are armed with...” X: “My smarts!” Jason: “You’re-ok, I’m... not going to make that note.” When you’re so good at playing a Malkavian that even the GM can’t handle it.
Great episode! I really enjoy how the Beast is manifested differently based on the particular Clan involved. It adds flair to the gameplay. One request: PLEASE BRING IN A MAGE AS A GUEST TO THE COTERIE! Also: I predict the Pale man in the red suit is Maximillian Strauss.
First thing: there's 3 types of Frenzy. When you experience something terrifying (for example open flame in close proximity), when you are starving, and when you are in a situation that tugs at your clan compulsion. The first two are relatively similar for all clans, the third is specific (a ventrue will be compelled to demand respect, a toreador will be compelled to move away from what they consider to be ugly, a brujah will be compelled to challenge the status quo, a tremere will be... compelled to do absolutely nothing because they're not Cainites etc.). Second thing: mages, even mediocre mages, are insanely stronger than young vampires, so I'm afraid that if they bring one as a guest he will outshine the main cast :(.
I've sort of been hoping for a Hunter: innocent or Redeemer. Obviously not an Inquisitor but one of the Hunter.net Main Street kind who aren't sure if the Voice is God or Aliens.
@@tudornaconecinii3609 the Tremere are cainites. They just took a different way around it. The potion the 7 used is based on Tzimisce vitae. And then they diablerized their way up to 4th gen before Tremere himself took out Saulot. They may have had a late start, and weren't started by one of the 2nd gens, but they are still Cainites.
X: "Your name is Petronella? Like a scented candle?" Jasper: "That's Citronella." X: "Same thing." Jasper: "Yeah." X: "Just more patronizing." Jasper: xD
