I agree. Best movie I’ve seen in a while, and the greatest theatre experience. I am looking to go see it again . Which for a 3 hour movie isn’t a typical thing. It subverts expectations. Not in a D&D game of thrones way, but in the best possible way. It isn’t afraid to admit that half the film is parody of common movie tropes. Beaus mothers big reveal had so many “classic” “cliche” lines that made me laugh out loud . But there were times I felt genuinely sad , and times I felt guilty for laughing. Making you feel something is the main goal of a movie in my opinion, and this film made me feel so much. God damn,
Great video, I really like your take on the film. One thing that I will say is that it’s not a version of Beau in the attic with his father, it’s Beau’s brother.
I'm from brazil and the street where beau lives looks like Sao Paulo. I think that the name Beau came from the name of the farm that make the foods that he eats. The name of the farm is BOINTIFUL.
really? hmm.. that makes this entire video sort of, well useless i guess. if everything is literal that means it really was just beaus mom hiring literally everything around him huh? if EVERYTHIGN as he and you said was literal, then how can the ending trail scene be real? it was pretty obviously abstract. i dont really see how that was in reality, same with the dad d*ck and stuff but. i dont know maybe ari was thinking silly when he said that... idk, maybe i just cant get over my original ideas EDIT unless by literal you didnt mean "real". but if you did everything above stands
@@verybigdumb literal all the way up to the point of him being hit by the truck. Afterwards he’s in the afterlife and the end scene is him finally accepting his life and moving in
I think hes just fkn with us. Of course it can be interpreted in any way . Dont let your work be discredited. Your take is the only salvation for this film bc i did not like it at first viewing. But i might want to see again because of your explanation
The reason beau is afraid, is because as the unreliable narrator of the film, he's constantly tries to prove his innocence by blaming his mother, but the real truth is Beau is a serial killer that's processing his last moments while in the electric chair. This is why he's in a boat at the trial in the end, which spits out electric sparks from what's clearly a gas engine on the boat. It's the same electrical sparks at the foot of the elevator throughout the movie signifying Beau receiving multiple shocks as he descends further and further into hell for his sins. It's also why the boat is in a stadium because Beau is being given the death penalty and his victim's families and the community he terrorized are watching his execution. This is why they all get up to leave when his boat capsizes because he's dead. It's why his defense lawyer kills himself. When beau realizes the moment he lost the case. And you're completely right about his mommy issues being because she abused him, but she abused him in the way that she did because she was raped but decided she had to keep the baby to avoid becoming a murderer herself. This is evidenced in Beaus mother's house when you see the wall of family photos showing all the drugs his mother used on him as a child before she would lock him in the attic because of her penis envy. This same penis envy Beau has to overcome with "Elaine" but because he's a delusional psychopathic schizophrenic from his mother's many abuses he strangles Elaine mid-coitus trying to conquer his penis envy. This is why we see her carried out later with rigor mortis. And the naked man with a knife from the beginning of the movie is Beau, Beau has been projecting his faults and failings onto everyone around him as referenced in the play in the middle of the movie beau sees himself in the show, he projects himself having a full life with several sons, but he admits he's never had sex, and they ask him then how can they be his sons... and beau is dumbfounded. This is to clue you into to the fact that beau is appropriating parts of people's lives he likes and projecting them as his own, but we know he's an unreliable narrator. The reason for that is because Beau is still trying to prove his innocence while his brain is frying and still trying to make sense of it all. He still sees himself as the victim and to a certain extent he is, but it becomes clear when you realize beau is constantly trying to convince the viewer his mother set him up. Which sounds like the alibi a delusional pychotic schizophrenic person might use to try to justify their actions. Beau is afraid because hes on his way to hell and he knows it. And no amount of lying will save him this time. Id even argue beau killed his mother as well. Thats why theres a chandelier hanging above him when he calls his mother but the delivery guy answers beaus mothers phone. Which is also why the prosecution in the trial is representing the silent image of beaus mother
