I’ve been on Streets many times, and seeing the turns come up so fast in this video by @fromwhereicharge, it’s almost hard to see which way the track is going 😜 ! Full send! Congrats on a new record and beating everyone including gas cars!!! 🙌🏼
A random video of a Porsche 991.2 did a 1:12 9 months before this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IJOyRl4Xq0w.html Streets of Willow was repaved a couple of years ago, so people have been setting faster lap times. This time will get sent down the order over time as more people run on the track.
@@Cal3000 To be fair the Plaid set a record for production and modified production cars. The 991.2 cup car is a low volume "production based" track-only race car. There are tons of track series cars that would easily beat the Plaid. The 991.2 cup car is built on a chassis that is also used in a production car but it is built from the ground up otherwise as a race car and isn't street legal. You could get a 911 GT3 RS which is street legal, barely, but it won't be as fast around Streets of Willow compared to the cup car since it doesn't have the racing gear box, weighs more, has exhaust and emissions restrictions, etc. With the same driver in a GT3 RS with slicks he would probably still be 3-4 seconds slower around Streets of Willow than in the cup car. I would guess that if you took the Plaid drivetrain and put it into an even lighter version with everything else stripped out of it that was unnecessary while adding all carbon fiber panels for body work as well as replacing all windows with polycarbonate, along with the mods that it has in this video it would be a few seconds faster too. They mention in the video that the tires were even worn and it wasn't fully charged.
@@flipadavis There is no difference. This Plaid is gutted with a wide body, front splitter, wing with slicks and a roll cage. It basically everything you can do to create a time attack car, which is basically aggressively tuned with the goal of running a single hot lap. Anyways, the video says EV record. There is another Corvette that ran 3 seconds faster than this. There is also an S2K that is about a second off. And a full interior supra that is one second off this with the CCW time, which is basically equal to the CW times ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2rzJLAcJuDk.html When more people start running the repaved course, there will be a lot of times flooded in the 1:12-1:14.
congrats....im curious to how many laps can you get before, something gets too hot or you run out of electrons.....i saw some track days now offer fast charging via diesel generators.....is 30-40 min in between sessions enough time to top off (and cool down if needed) ?
I know a stock model 3 performance can do 3 laps of the Nurburgring (which is a 7+ minute lap) before needing a cool down. The brakes are actually the first to overheat since the stock brakes are quite poor (most people use the Regen brake for daily driving). Fast charging actually require the battery to be quite warm so wouldn't cool anything down there. I can't speak for the new S but I'd imagine the other components would need cool down before the drive train itself can't tolerate it. The old S prob wouldn't last more than a lap.
@@sacredwolf09 thanks i appreciate the answer, i was so in love with the plaid....think im just gonna try find a used boxter or miata for now :-) i cant imagine tires lasting very long either.....my camaro sure eats tires fast...and drinks gas like theres no tomorrow
Tesla Semi allegedly has a 1.4TW inverter... I'm assuming that's a typo and they meant 1.4MW. if that's the case, could we expect the Cybertruck Plaid to have 2000 horsies?!
OK , full stop, have taken that first turn a number of times and never have I considered it to be taken that fast. Without watching the rest of it going to say this is a lap record.
When oh when is someone going to hack the plaids to push out another 10-15% more power? Sucks tesla claims 155mph trap car but yet in the real world they don't do it. Typically they only do 149mph 1/4.
