Wait til them dime a dozen Teslas get into a minor fender bender. Out of commission for good! And they're not even gonna own those cars for ten years. Lithium batteries aren't just designed nor manufactured to last that long. The more you keep plugging in and out, the less lifespan you'll get. SSD is what they need. Samsung from South Korea is working on them SSD as we speak. Long live Korea!!! Viva Korea!!! All of their batteries and ipad/iphone screens are from Samsung anyways. Can't say Made in USA.
Big Oil is pullong their hair out over this because they spent all their time & money trying to discredit climate science. Cost savings baby! What American doesn’t like that? 🇺🇸⚡️
Well as an outsider after seeing many police chases and actions on video involving their vehicles it reeks of incredible naivety that these wretched EV's are the answer to the net zero insanity and these police vehicles are going to become a real problem for any aspect of the issues surrounding lithium-ion batteries. All I can say is the taxpayers of California have more money than they and their regulating bodies know what to do with.
As much as I am for electrification and hybrids. Is it wise to put our protection services in vehicles that can catch on fire for days and are prone to EMPs.
From a cops working perspective this works perfectly 90 perfect of patrols are under 200 miles Since the cop cars always go back to the station, making chargers are the station makes stuff way easier than before No need to wait at gas stations, just plug it in when you’re done your shift, and it would be full for the next use! WAY cheaper to maintain cuz electric is way cheaper than gas Can stand idle waiting with no emission, that’s a huge hit And the speed of these EVs and lower center of gravity makes them perfect for highway chases Damn
Looking at South Pasedena on a map, it's a small city and is only 3.4 square miles. I'd say this makes sense here. They aren't gonna be doing high speed chases or pit maneuvers in their little town. They'll mostly be cruising around a relatively small area. Model Y gets around 300 miles per charge, so a full charge should last a good while. If they crunched the numbers and found out that this will save taxpayer money in the long run, good for them. I'd keep a couple of gas backups, but otherwise I don't see a problem with this.
BTW - IF & when Tesla releases the Carbon - Ceramic brake kit + Speed boost & Track mode, combined will be FASTER than the +up brake kit alone. as +up wont be able to Access the TESLA speed boost or Track mode w/ TESLA brake kit.
the TAKEAWAY here is NEW M3P stock is fine as Daily Driver , ROAD tripper & Canyon carver. IF you are going to RACE it , then simply UPGRADE it to the Maximum , get Bigger CC performance brakes. As much as I wish it wasn't the case because I would like to upgrade to the MP3 from my LR, these Teslas are a waste of time and money for track day driving due to the seriously bad battery overheating. The 5N is the choice and needs no upgrades.
Until something can be done to improve battery and motors cooling management all these accessories are mostly a waist of money. Anyone would be getting a better track product by just buying a Hyundai Ioniq 5N.
If I had confidence that the old ones worked on the new car without a litany of errors. The Performance is still very new. In time more people will come and want this and somebody will have it all figured out. I even spoke with a Tesla rep and he said that it's not out of the question that they could support this in the future.
For Phase 1, which of the three available settings/mounting holes was used on the "Street/Track" version sway bars? And there was mention in the video that the new 24' M3P rear end is stiffer than previous years. Is that stock spring increased stifness over previous years? Or is that stock rear sway bar increased over previous years?
