Despite never producing the Superpowers Superman phone booth, at least Kenner had their moment with the Bill and Ted phone booth playset. Which is awesome. Another great episode, Ed!

I always found Centurions to be a great idea. I started high school in 86 so I never bought the toys but I still built with LEGO bricks. The idea of modular mission suits inspired some pretty cool LEGO minifig basic mechs. MOSPEADA Cyclone Armor was similar as well. Great video. Love the karate jeans!!

As a kid I wanted at least one figure of every toy line, usually the main good or bad guy. I had the blue centurion, super ninja, and from super powers I had Superman, Batman, and lex. Being born in 79 enabled me to get most of my action figures straight from retail. The centurion; however, was a garage sale find and he didn’t have any accessories, unfortunately.

About the Catwoman Kenner figure, toy maker/enthusiast Jason Geyer (@toyotter) dug deep into this "myth", and found out that the original sculpt was not intended for the super powers toyline, but rather was an early Batman Returns sculpt, made without actual references, that then had to be re-sculpted after finally getting references from the film. The story of Selina being part of this "cancelled" 4th wave is far better known than the real story haha, which is understandable. Great video like always, though! Love the content! :)

Yeah, and IIRC, Swamp Thing starting out as an unproduced Super Powers toy is also just a fan assumption, based on old toy magazines who were the only sources of their time and weren't exactly investigative journalism.

there are so many toy lines that i will always wish existed in the 90s. they were crazy about taking movies and making toylines out of them, so why was there no Tombstone toy line? I didn't know a single kid who didn't LOVE that movie back in the day. I was like 8 or 9 when it came out, and so were my friends, and we used to always say "i want tombstone figures. i want a Doc Holiday." they were cowboys, so there were endless possibilities for figures, action features, playsets... so much could have been done. Also, we had Terminator and Rambo, so why not DIE HARD?!?! For that matter, why weren't there figures of some of the saturday morning cartoons? Ace Ventura animated series, Project Geeker, etc. If they would've had toylines, there's a good chance they wouldn't have flopped. So many missed opportunities.

I am disappointed that Centurions never took off... Sadly, They were a bit high priced when I was young - But having seen Action Man (The OG GI Joe here in the UK) - I know that they could have worked out! I did see them on shelves and they were AWESOME! The Accessories pack idea though - Don't get me wrong, for consumers it is AWESOME - But thats the problem, its good for CONSUMERS... NOT for Profits!!! If Accessory Packs worked so well for Profits - Why would Hasbro and the many other Toy Companies bring out so many VARIANTS OF BATMAN for one prime example!!! I would love to collect Centurions now though - I wont deny, Hell I would love to see them re-released... I feel they could do them at a smaller scale and still work!!! But without a Cartoon or Movie... :(

@@EdsRetroGeekOut Yup! Sadly, Thats how the Manufactures make teh most Moolah! A Real Shame as I truly think Centurions would have been a Great Action Figure Series! I want the show to come back... :) (OK! Partly because I had a crush on the Redhead in the Space Station... I still blame STAR FLEET, I developed a crush on Commander Makara! And since then have been hooked on Redheads!)

I have the chuck Norris unproduced commando style outfit . Colors are different and it seems mass produced. No accessories though. Was series 2 ever released in other countries?

3:34 “as a jail cell for a super powered villain.” Yet the picture shows Joker being locked up. Basically a villain who doesn’t have super powers.

Chuck Norris' animated series pretty much cribbed the format of Mr. T's cartoon.

Also they were both Ruby Spears produced so...could've been an in-house decision.
