I just saw for the first time one of these clocks on an old episode of British Antiques Roadshow and wanted to learn more. Thanks very much for making this explanatory video.

EXCELLENT Video and the information contained within was outstanding! I had an identical clock in for repair 2 years ago which some unqualified repairman damaged badly. I would have loved to have this video then, as I spent hours staring at the movement until I fully understood the concept of its operation. Guilmet was a genius if every there were one. How a persons mind could come up with this sophisticated, yet elegant concept is beyond my comprehension. By the way..... I understand the reason that your last words in this video "don't call me". The clock was on and off my bench for almost 7 months until it was running properly and I could repair all the damage. I said the same thing to the owner when I returned the clock :-)

I know you put a lot of time into this video and it is really appreciated. I just got one to service and it's missing the suspension spring. Any input you could give me on dimensions would be wonderful. Thank you, James in Canada

Fascinating. I suppose the long fly balance is what gives the pendulum its impulse to keep it going.

Thank you for explanation. The most difficult was to understand motion of trapeze and stirrup lever, you should let the video at 6:47 play longer. As free pendulum clock, it should be quite precize, amplitude of pendulum is constant and doesn't depend on mainspring tension

Thank you so much. I would really like some insight into the fork gap adjuster and how and when it should be used. My clock works perfectly when the lefthand side of the clock is raised 2 mm, but not if it level. Is this something that can be manipulated? Kind regards, James in Canada

I have one that I just serviced recently everything is working great but it is my first clock like this and I am not sure how to adjust the time keeping. If you could help that would be amazing. Loved this video.

Breathtaking concept! Not only does it work, what gets me is the amount of weight the movement is oscillating. Does the mass of the cast iron rod, base and statue add to the pendulum's regularity? Thanks for that run down. Cheers from Oz

A repairman’s nightmare. Thank you for sharing, now I know to avoid buying one.
