We have already setup a behavior tree controlled NPC characters with player detection and attacks. Today, i am going to improve it by enabling AI characters to return to their normal duties when the player has broken their line of sight and hidden somewhere that they can't see. Also, the player will not be able to hide in a bush when he is already detected by an enemy. Before entering a bush to hide, has to break all enemies line of sight in order to hide.

Hey, I was just watching your tutorials again for the landscapes and I'm at a point now where I need to import tiled landscapes and the layer information (where grass, rock and dirt will be displayed by the material instance). But WorldMachine is expensive so I've just come across a programm called Gaea landscapes. In there you can create landscapes too and with a bit of manual work you can get it to work and create your own landscape. Now my question: Do you know a way of creating these layer information seperately, because I do not know how to do that in Gaea. Maybe you can create your own layer information based on the heightmap? Or maybe directly in Unreal Engine based on height and angle?

Is it possible to make the enemy invisible to the player if he's out of line of sight. Like for example if the player is behind a wall, you won't see the enemy in third person view since your line of sight is blocked by the wall in front of you. Can you do a video on this if possible.

@@CodeLikeMe he meant: if player can not see the enemy physically, for example, when he is behind the wall, than the enemy becomes invisible.

i am not sure, but what if u create ur owb field of view or smth like AI's sense system. And then, when some objects are not in this area, u just hidden them.... ohhh, fuck, i guess i made a system for optimization foliage and meshes :)))

@@CodeLikeMe Ok let me explain, at 21:00 you went behind the wall but you can still see the enemy in the screen because you're in third person view.In real life, this wont be the case because your view is blocked by the wall in front of you.So how do you make the enemy not show up in the screen whenever this happens? Make the enemy invisible if your totally behind something or you're looking away from the enemy or maybe partially blur the enemy if yo ucan only see part of him even when in 3rd person view.Hope that amde sense.

Yeah, now I get it. We can do it like this, Do a line trace from enemy to player continuously. If the line is blocked by something else, set visibility to hidden in enemy. Otherwise visible. But, it would look odd when characters pop in and out in screen.
