How long do the supporters/contributors of UNRWA plan on keeping the Palestinians /Hamas dependent on them? It's been 80 years. In that time they keep growing the population. Even animals don't have more kids than the environment can sustain. Most parents give the children a timeline to get a job and leave the nest , or at least not require the parents to support them. If you are on government assistance in my country, you have to work, and you can' keep having kids endlessly and expect others to support you and them. Here being on the dole is frowned upon and time limited. Gazans have received so much aide for so long including 30million a month from Qatar for ten years, plus UNRWA money and money from Israel, and still they didn't stockpile food or water or build much that provides jobs. I have let my politicians know if they send tax money to UNRWA they lose my vote.
This is ISRAEL's fault for their utter control over Gazan lives. Limitations of goods & services flowing in & out of the territory. Does your government take care of shops and what to sell in them at what prices? Normally it is like in Palestine, vendors sell produce and products at a certain price. For Gaza the situation is that vendors hardly get their hands on things to sell, and what they get is very expensive.

Why with all the funds over so many years didn't the parents of children in Gaza stockpile food and water rather than stockpiling weapons and ammunition? They knew who Hamas was and what Hamas' goals were and what that would mean. It is child abuse for parents not to find a way to take that into account and stockpile food and water.

It is artificially stunted by the blockade Israel with US backing imposed in 2007: they control everyone and everything in and out of Gaza, including the basic necessities of life such as food, water, electricity, fuel and internet service. UNRWA is the largest employer in Gaza. For any economy to thrive (business to grow, creating jobs, etc.) you need flow of people and materials. Israel has forbid this. The Gazans did have agricultural lands, and had a healthy trade in olives and oranges. However, Israel regularly razes the agricultural lands, and in 2004 reduced them significantly by building the barrier wall well within Palestinian lands, further reducing the agricultural and grazing area. You must understand that Israel have always controlled through violence the Palestinian lands, but nowhere more obvious and evident than Gaza. The Israeli government calculates the number of calories it allow through the Gaza borders (in food including food aid from humanitarian and UN agencies). It keeps the Gazans on a near starvation diet. If you keep people struggling to just live from day to day, then you reduce their time and resources to resist your occupation. That is why they do it. Despite this, Palestinians survive on way less than anyone else in the world and developed remarkable systems of reusing water because their water is metered and reduced to 1/5th of what the UN says is required for any human being on the planet. Now, as for Hamas, if they did not have the foresight and planning to dig tunnels, then they would have literally no defence against Israel. You must understand, that eliminating Palestinians from their lands has always been the goal of Israel. Without a resistance force, they are sitting ducks. They are sitting ducks…they’re waiting to be massacred in Rafa: 1.5 million of them. Israel an not find Hamas but Hamas is finding the IDF. The Palestinians are an occupied people and they are the only ones with the right to defend themselves on their own territories according to international law. You can look it up.
