You forgot that the UNSC went *directly* from fighting a war with other humans to fighting the Covenant. That, the fact they're trained like IRL Marines, and their armor making it hard for auto tracking, electronic aiming, etc, would give them a win 8-9/10, if not 10/10

Depends a lot on the Elites, the Predators, and the context. In a 1v1, generally the Predators are going to win. An Elite Zealot could probably defeat a standard Predator though. Meanwhile, an army of Elites could probabyl defeat an army of Predators.
Elites would win because they are stronger than predators, they are taller than predators, they are faster than predators and they have better weapons than predators. So I'm going to go with elites
I would like to see that but my vote is elites. Simply for this reason predators are hunters they stock their prey, beat them up alittle then kill them elites on the other hand our warriors they trained to fight wars. They also have a more deadly bladed weapon. And most if not all elites have an energy shield and strong armor.
Physically and technologically, they're roughly on the same level, although I'd say elites are better equipped for war. If it's a group of elite minors and majors, I think the predators will have themselves some new skulls for their trophy walls. If the predators try to take on a team of zealots or spec ops, they should start remembering the self-destruct codes for their wrist nukes.
I agree that the UNSC Marines would be the victors in this case. But I disagree with the statement that Xenomorphs and Predators are just animals. Xenomorphs are to an extent, but their intelligence is definitely a notch above your average animal, especially when combined with their hivemind esque ability. As for the Yautja(Predators), that statement is downright, mind my french, bull. Yautja are not only sentient, they live for thousands of years, dedicating essentially their entire live to the art of hunting, fighting and this general "path of the warrior" lifestyle, taking on ever greater opponents and ever deadlier creatures to prove their skill. On top of that, they have the technological bonuses of cloaking, various types of sensory detection of their helmets and carrying a literal bucket load of weapons designed for the hunting of exceedingly lethal prey, be it sentient or not, the top notch of which is the shoulder mounted cannon that packs as much punch as a small bazooka. And that is the basic models. Go up the quality scale and some of those are capable of taking ships out of the sky. That skill, technology and a decent mix of great strength, speed and agility, in my opinion, make them a far more efficient, deadly and terrifying threat to face than any Elite or Brute.
I’m with you on the xenomorphs because they are a fairly intelligent and deadly species that even the unsc would have trouble with. However the yautja are a different story, they might spend years hunting and besting other warriors and beasts however the Elites have been a very martial like race ever since the covenant was founded. They are some of the best soldiers in their universe and the key word is soldier not warriors but soldiers. We stopped fighting war using warriors a long time ago because it was mostly disorganized and each warrior was fighting for their home but also their own glory. Soldiers however have discipline, tactics, uniform command, and are not bound by as much personal glory like the yautja are. The yautja might be good fighters but put them up against the unsc or the covenant and they’ll just seem like a bunch of primitives with some nice tech that they somehow figured out how to make or stole.
True, aliens and predators are rather intelligent. However, fighting small outbreaks of aliens and the odd predator is MUCH different than fighting a large, well coordinated army using complex battlefield tactics and coordinating fire.
I'm sorry, what? Predators more animals than anything else? They have more advanced technology than the Colonial Marines, they have personal cloaking fields, they're more impressive physically, they have an incredible amount of experience facing a vastly diverse array of prey both sentient and non-sentient... they are not opponents to take lightly.
Predators are exactly what their names are and are master hunters and warriors, if they even came to halo universe, they are fucked no matter how superior they are in the colonial universe, they would be at the bottom of the food chain in halo

7:40 There's literally an entire book centered around Johnson training a squad of Marines. While it isn't too in depth, we do see training exercises and a warmup jog, as well as particularly sniper training.
I personally would want the UNSC to win. I think they're awesome. But I do think you left out alot of tech the colonial marines had at their disposal. Explosive ammo, motion trackers, flame throwers, ect... Also you do say the colonial marines are more used to fighting animal like enemies. Which I think is false. The predators seem far more capable and smarter than most standard covenant soldiers. Also we see colonial marines fighting aliens and predators but they are soldiers. They weren't trained to fight these creatures. They were trained to fight other formal militaries. Militaries like the UNSC. You also said the UNSC was more used to being outnumbered and having to stand and fight. But that was kinda the premises of the Aliens film. The few soldiers vs the alien horde. Again, I personally like the UNSC far more. Big halo fan. But I feel like you did pass over alot of major details about colonial marines.
Mmmh, the premise of Aliens is that they keep doing dumb shit, like allowing Xenos to enter their aircraft without even noticing. The UNSC Marines on the other hand are constantly keeping up with an enemy that is stronger, has better tech and outnumbers them. The only cool thing the Colonial Marines seem to have are synthetic people, but why use them instead of sending your entire platoon into an ambush with unloaded weapons I guess.
There is a few things you missed on. The covenant also uses projectiles that can track their enemies so UNSC Marines are used to being shot at by needlers and other form of ballistic tracking projectiles. UNSC Marines like any other UNSC personnel are equipped with a neuro interface. So while you're fighting the UNSC is feeding them battle strategies and information on what's going on in the battlefield. So the UNSC Marines will know everything that's going on in their area and know what type of battle strategy to pull off to be successful. All around I would give this a 8 out of 10 for the UNSC Marines.
So basically a brain radio. Cuz that sounds like something you don't need to have implanted on your head to make strategies. Also, I don't think the UNSC marines got used to the needler, they usually die from it the same way as to getting shot by a gun.
The M41A had one very nice touch you forgot to mention. Its standard bullets were 10x24mm, caseless explosive rounds that could easily penetrate a xeno's exoskeleton which is canonically strong enough to shrug off shotgun slugs and 357 magnum rounds(Aliens Earth Hive and Alien Isolation respectively). In another novel it is stated by a colonial marine that the manual for the weapon states it has a maximum effective range of 400 meters but anything at 300 or below was generally preferred by the user. While I am inclined to agree with the outcome, I would actually say it comes down to the superior discipline of the UNSC marines as opposed to their arms and armor. Sev vs The Jungle Hunter Predator?

I have watched many of your match up videos. Sometimes I agree, sometimes I do not but in most cases, I get the impression that there is bias and a bit of unfamiliarity with the subject manner. An example of unfamiliarity in this video is where you say the colonial marines fight against animals like xenomorphs, which is probably true, and predators, which is definitely not. Predators have significant amounts of technology and intelligence, despite their beastly appearance. Another example of this is when you mention the type of ammonia the UNSC weapons use but neglect to mention the armor piercing explosive tipped ammo the Colonial Marines use. Not mentioning this difference ignores a significant variable of the match up. As for favoritism, in almost every video you say something like, this tech is unimportant or this factor won't make much difference. Often, you ignore variables for the losing team, maybe it is a coincidence but it doesn't seem objective. In this video, you say the UNSC has better tactics and communication but have not apparent justification for the statement. Is it possible that you favor the side, in this case, UNSC, that you grew up with and are more familiar with than anything outside of your comfort zone? With that said, you government the UNSC a 6 out of 10 chance of winning and that is a much closer margin than in must match ups. Now that I have that off my chest, I wanted to suggest a possible match up. The Mobile Infantry from Starship Troopers VS UNSC Marines.
I mostly agree with the outcome. Though the Colonial Marines use explosive armor piercing rounds, this may even things out to a tie our marginal edge for the UNSC.
So do the UNSC. They used primarily AP because of the Covenant's shields, but just about every weapon had a frag/shredder variant round for them, and the M6 used SAP-HE sa standard. It's also noted that UNSC Marine armor is entirely sufficient for ballistic weaponry, the problem being that plasma and oversized spikes are very much not the usual projectiles they're meant for.
Destroyer_Radford this is true, but the UNSC standard use round was AP FMJ rounds. As to the M6 handgun, the E variants were standard issue, even though the D variant used HE rounds. The USCM, Colonial Marines, standard issue rounds were AP-E, armor piercing explosive tipped. Even with armor that can withstand greater ballistic force, conventional explosives are seen to be effective against it, even Spartans are seen to die from a single close detonation of a grenade, so stands to reason a direct impact of a smaller explosive will be effective or several impacts of that type.
Yeah those bullets the Unsc are usually are titanium encased AP-HE rounds. The MA5 fires these rounds at 905m/s which is a higher muzzle velocity than a Barrett M82 .50cal. so yeah they have some serious stopping power. Especially at a in universe rate of 750-900rpm. That's a light machine gun rate of fire.
From what I read in the Colonial Marines Tech Manual, I do believe you underestimated the training of the Colonial Marines - they are constantly at War. Not in a Declared War, but in Brushfire Wars between corporations and individual colonies where there are no lines of battle and no rules; just fight to survive until the government declares 'victory' and sends you off to the next battle. I do believe this was demonstrated in the film with how well the platoon was depicted as working together like a well-oiled machine and even the extensive individualization and well-used nature of their equipment that would not be allowed in a peacetime military. Part of the plot was the new Lieutenant screwed everything up and then it all went to hell.
If that idiot lieutenant wasn't in command, they probably would have had a fighting chance against the hive. Also got the Technical Manual; it's a prized possession of mine.
My experience with the USCMC is limited to Aliens, but they struck me more as mercenaries (jack-offs who just want to fire big guns and kill stuff) rather than hardened soldiers. They also operate under the auspices of the Weyland-Yutani corporation, which has a reputation for considering everyone under its umbrella to be expendable assets. I don't think they would spend much time/money on advanced training. Most Colonial Marines probably went into battle with little more than basic training.
Not a fair competition. To even hold the designation of N7 requires one to be a battle-hardened veteran who has accomplished feats of skill and bravery that places one solidly into the "living legend" category. And that's before equipment is even figured in.
Diana Barnett ODST have to spend years in the marines, then be selected for by NAVSPECWC (Naval special warfare command) And after they are selected they need to go through 2 years of Brutal training in which many candidates die, and after all that then they can become an ODST. Pretty heavy training. But N7 will win because they have shields.

seriously guys the MAC is damned good compared to the weak shields and weapons of the enterprise, while the enterprise does have shields it is so not meant of for combat seriously it is more like a farmer with a gun compared to a soldier with armor and a railgun.
While I do believe that the Colonial Marines are a powerful and lethal fighting force, it is quite evident that UNSC Marines would possess more experience and superior weaponry.
The Forerunners were killed off by the Flood,Warhammer has Tyranids. The forerunners might be more technologically advanced but that won’t mean anything, the warhammer 40k Imperium is much more stronger in manpower and sheer willpower to win. The Imperium also would have Thunder Warriors the more brutal ancenstors of the Angels of Death: The Adeptus Astartes. Along with ancient technology being recovered at an amazing rate (in 40k technology has slowed down to a halt, at 30k it was going amazing).
@@erebus7306 I think the naval capabilities of the Forerunners would be able to undermine that numbers advantage. Imperial response times were sluggish and most planets are responsible for their own protection. I do recall reading somewhere that often calls for reinforcements were answered too late quite a few times. Travel through space in WH40k is risky where the forerunners could probably both move and communicate far quicker and more reliably as well.

I think the DMR really made the the difference, the longer range was the only real advantage the UNSC had over the smart gun witch would have torn apart the troops with assault rifles. A few shots from the DMR or battle rifle would take down the heavy gunner and even the playing field.
For the colonial marines you forgot the apc attached to the squads. Which would come with the phalanx turrets, directed energy weapons, man portable nukes...and thats just whats stored inside. Even adding in the closest equivalent for the unsc, The warthog, its no contest.
UNSC Marines ALWAYS have a sniper, just about every time you see them in a game. If you're talking about the books, then if not a sniper, then someone has a DMR or similar weapon. It always feels like UNSC Marines get their weapon load gimped in any kind of comparative video.

Personally, I think you REALLY underestimated the Colonial Marines. As stated before, the entire Colonial Marine Corps was founded with the safety of colonies from extraterrestrial threats in mind. They've been in constant aggressions with disloyal colonies, and Xenomorphs, which are not animals, at all. If you're really basing everything off of just the Aliens movie, please do a rematch after spending some time on the wikia. (avp.wikia.com) Firstly, the Yautja (predators) were nothing like animals, either. They were sentient, and pretty much what you used to describe the Covenant but with more emphasis. Colonial Marines use AP-E rounds in their M41As as standard issue, which means if that 4 man UNSC squad gets into their base of fire, they're done for.
@@jboydayz It's worth noting Colonial Marines are better equipped in armor and guns than the UNSC is so they do have an advantage. The M3 armor reliably stops 7.62 armor piercing rounds and they fire 10mm AP-Explosive, which is gonna cut through any of their unshielded stuff. Spartans still have the advantage in their shields but considering the vast arsenal of armor piercing weapons, anti-tank guns and plasma weaponry the Marines have, they wouldn't have the advantage for very long. The UNSC generally wouldn't fare very well against the Colonial Marine corps because the UNSC is more akin to cops than the Marines.
@@Rogue_Nine416 I've never seen the Colonial Marines use tanks, or aircraft before, sure they have their armored cars but the UNCS is an active military, if we're going beyond a single squad the UNSC for sure wins, air support and armored divisions exist in halo. I don't see the local police fielding attack helicopters and actual tanks. The Colonial Marines are the real cops, what true active threat to humanity have they faced that wasn't because some corporation wanted a xeno egg and things got out of hand?
4 men squad? A single UNSC frigate can carry 500 Marines, a light cruiser carries 1500 Marines, a carrier carry 5000 Marines, the Infinity have even more capacity. And all of them not only have their personal equipment and weaponry, but also space fighters, atmospheric fighters, drops hips, tanks, mobile artillery, APC, LRV (Warthogs) that come in different configuration (they can carry machine guns, gauss cannons, rocket launchers or just troop transport) etc. The same ship that is carrying them is also a mobile platform that can strike with heavy weaponry (till the use of nuclear weapons) whenever they need. Some of the UNSC nuclear weapons are so powerful that once they literally destroyed an entire planet. If 4 UNSC Marines see a USCMC base, they will just transmit the location to their Frigate, and then they will leave, recovered by a Pelican. In meanwhile the Frigate would have launched a single nuke and the base will be wiped out in no time. If the USCMC deploys its Conestoga class cruiser or the Bougainville class cruisers, nope, no win either. UNSC ships are more advanced in technology and moreover are equipped with armors specifically made to resist to heat damage. That's because Covenant use mainly the same weaponry of the space-based USCMC/UAAC fleet: plasma weapons and lasers. But, instead of having the powerful Covenant ships to deal with, the USCMC ships are weak, no armored, slow and they require time to start their weapons and track the target. A UNSC frigate instead is incredible fast, and equipped with a MAC cannon. One single shot is sufficient to destroy part of the USCMC ship, at least, sufficient to destroy their forward sensors that are used to track the targets. It's a battle that UAAC/USCMC ships can't win. If we also compare the USCMC ships with the UNSC post Human-Covenant war, then you will notice that other than the normal MAC cannon, a Frigate carries also a plasma beam and energetic shield of Forerunner derivation. It's not something the United Americas Allied Command can hope to survive.
If placed in somewhere with biomass, the flood wipes the floor with blacklight. A single flood spore is enough to take over a planet, black light virus only took over just Manhattan with over a week of time. A flood infection starting with a single infection form would have taken over new york city in a matter hours, while the blacklight infection started off with numerous forms but took far longer to take over Manhattan.
I don’t think you took in the fact too greatly of the different headgear modules on the CH253 helmet that UNSC combat personnel wear. You have some who wear standard orange HUDs with motion sensors, reticles, weapon ID links, ammo counters, and health monitors. Some also have targeting eye pieces that track targets and calculate the distance and accuracy of hitting a target while scanning your surrounding front imaging as well. I don’t know about you, but I think the targeting eye pieces can somewhat be tools to counter, or at least gain similar ground to the smart gun.
Might be interesting to do a Dropship vs Dropship equivolent here. That would definitely tip things in the USMC's favour, given the crazy amount of support fire they typically drop with. UNSC would probably have far greater range with their dropship, but that's be about their only advantage.

I feel like you have it in for the aliens franchise. You called the aliens mindless animals, if your basing all of your factors from a movie about the aliens lets remember the fall of reach movie and how well the marines (and odst) done there they were out schooled by kids ..... colonial marines were introduced by the yutani company when the company first discovered the xenomorph aliens, they were trained to take these aliens down because 1 egg, 1 drone, 1 facehugger could destroy an entire planet. And as for information on their training the smart gun took 100's of man hours to master as a weapon and is by no means a short - medium range weapon its a self targeting weapon with an accurate range of 1,500 yards.

the unsc trooper with the dmr finds a good place to draw a bead on the smart gun operator, drops them and then uses the big gun as bait for the rest of the colonials, who have to stop and disconnect the harness from the operator. as opposed to the unsc marines being able to acquire the squads more specialized weapons on their way past a fallen comrade simply by picking it up.
What would really happen: the UNSC sniper would get blasted out of their perch by a Colonial Marine with a Grenada launcher, something Eck conveniently forgot to mention was standard issue. How would they find him you ask? Well Eck failed to mention that the colonial marines motion trackers have a thousand meter range. Then the other UNSC marines would get ripped apart by the high explosive armor piecing rounds used by the Colonials pulse rifles, which Eck also didn’t mention. Boy, Eck sure forgot to mention a lot of stuff about the Colonial marines. Almost like he has a bias, or maybe he just didn’t do any research.
1. In ALIENS it is stated that the pulse rifle fires an explosive tipped round, not just a standard bullet. You can see how they explode and shred through xenomorph armour. If we take Alien: Isolation as a source then we know that conventional small arms fire does not penetrate Xenomorph armour effectively enough to kill with a short burst, this definitely constitutes an advantage over the UNSC marines' standard bullet and is likely enough to overcome the more protective UNSC armour. 2. Predators are *not* mindless animals, as many have already pointed out, they're highly competent, intelligent hunter-warriors with advanced technology. 3. The squad we see in ALIENS is meant to be on the 'bad' side of marine examples, and Burke used them specifically because they were unruly, badly disciplined and could be manipulated / messed with easier Overall I think you're giving the UNSC too much credit, and you brush over the fact that UNSC marines will have likely had less training, and likely are conscripts, which usually are less successful than professional soldiers. From what sources I've found, Colonial Marines are both enlisted and conscripted, but given the lack of a large scale war, it seems unlikely that they are mainly conscripted. You're also forgetting that much of the UNSC marines' success on land comes down to Spartans and support of craft with MAC guns. I'm not sure the colonial marines would win, because the UNSC is inherently a technologically superior force, but you are definitely underplaying the Colonial Marines' arsenal and capabilities.

Correct me if im wrong but i think you missed that the pulse rifle is loaded by default with explosive rounds designed against personal body armor. It would(hopefuly cuz there is a gap between the 2 sides tech and it's effectiveness can only be guessed) pierce then explode under the armor. Not a game changer but it could swing it to a 50/50 ecounter in my opinion.
Yautja (Predators) are sentient. They are also pretty strong. Their ships were able to one-shot a Colonial ship, although that ship didn't have energy shields
don't forget some marines were equipped with different armors, some UNSC marines wore a heavy variant that offered more protection and allowed for more grenades than the usual marine.
I believe in some degree, The Bungie was inspired by USMC when they designed UNSC marine Corp. Without spacecraft, the UNSC marine is just like US army in 50 years, not 500. But don’t get me wrong, it’s still looks cool as hell.

Couldn't disagree more! You kinda contradict yourself; one moment they are exactly the same the next they UNSC are better no matter what. You said the smart gun would kill or injure one marine before the wielder dies but yet if you look into the numbers you would see the marines would NEVER not even once win against the colonial marines. For example look into the RPM, the caliber, of the weapons used and the the positions that both soldiers filled. For example the colonial marines had explosive tipped rounds which shredded the durable xenomorphes the second they were in line of sight. The colonial marines also had battle rifles assault rifles and side arms each with there own series of attachments as well as equipment and grenades. Mean while the UNSC are under trained and under equipped. They lack any real training as proven in the games by watching them in combat or listening to their dialogue. They just aren't focused! They do not have HUDs as you can tell by looking at them in the game only exception are the ones from halo 1 but then they wouldn't have other things you gave them. I think you need to specify the era of which marines are in use because that would make a difference. If you watch the marines in combat without interfering at all they will get slaughtered every time! They always need a spartan or a ODST bad ass squad to save their ass. Hell the only use marines are in halo is distraction, carrying power weapons since you can only hold 2, and soaking up damage! That last one is the most important. If you watch how deployment works between the two factions you will see that the UNSC marine is simply cannon fodder while ODST (try to) maintain the threat and even still they suffer heavy loss and usually require serious support and back up (usually from a spartan) and those are ODSTs we are talking about and they are the ones who do the heavy lifting for the marines! You know how you get in the ODST program? You become a bad ass marine. You know how a ODST becomes a spartan in halo 4 and 5? They become bad ass ODST. Now watch the Spartans try fighting off their foes without the help of the chief or Locke. They do better but still get destroyed just like the marines fighting by their side. This proves that marines are in fact cannon fodder for the big dogs. And as Catherine Halsey says "If it were not for my Spartans humanity would be all but lost" (paraphrasing) Meaning that you can't give these marines credit for fighting off the covenant in the war when they only won because 1. they were saved by Spartans. 2. The covenant where fighting several wars! They where fighting the humans, the flood, the forerunner defenses, heretics, the banished, and the home planets of new races they where trying to recruit. But as I was saying the Colonial marines deployment is much more serious and by the book. As you said they send in 2 teams which in the movie aliens is what 2 dozen marines to be modest? And only panic when they realize they are in a hive full of creatures incubated from humans and half got wiped out by these creatures partly due to not being able to use particular types of ammo meaning ammo was short they where facing a monstrous foe they never even heard of and had to fight them on the enemies terms. Once they got out they made very good use out what little racecourses they had killing off probably nearly a hundred xenomorphes! Only taking more casualties when out of ammo and with backs in a corner with the enemies coming from the ceiling and the ground. Think the marines could even survive a single xenomorph? Hell in your stormtrooper vs aliens video the 5 aliens where up foes in the far distant future on the ship and with Darth Vader's assistance. And you still gave the aliens a chance now I know this isn't about the aliens but rather what the colonial marines fought and frankly kicked ass! Now a few minor points. In halo one notice how the marines don't even use the assualt rifles properly they burst them and frequently miss. If you so choose to accept my challenge and watch the marines from the UNSC fight without any help I want to remind you that you must set the difficulty to heroic since that is and I quote "The way it is meant to be played" meaning how the enemies would really be in that fight if it were real. quite frankly, the UNSC would have better luck picking up a turd by the clean end! I know I may have gone a bit over board with this but I thought your verdict was a bit.... miscalculated and wanted to provide some information and arguments as to why I think the marines of the UNSC have no chance. If you would like to further argue this I would be happy to and will do so with all manners of respect of course!
There are several things wrong with your comments. 1: This matchup is based off of canon lore, not gameplay mechanisms. In canon they do ahve the equipment he listed, also the Marines are actually competent. The Spartans help out, but they were few and far between. The battles werent won by Spartans, they were won by marines. It is true the training was shortened due to time constraints of the war, however, that is more than made up for by actual battle experience, which the UNSC has much more of. Battle experience is much more valuable than training, and the UNSC has much more battle experience. Its one thing to fight an animal (aliens) but its a hole nother issue when you're fighting other intelligent beings such as other humans. Which brings me to another point. The UNSC marines are used to fighting beings just as intelligent as themselves. Their opponent was capable of using the same modern combat techniques they could. Meanwhile, the Colonial Marines have only ever fought aliens, which are just animals. Very smart animals yes, but still animals. Its completely different, so the UNSC would have an edge there. Plus a lot of the UNSC personnel hace actual experience fighting other humans due to the inssurectionists before and after the war. 2: the explosive tips of the Colonial Marine bullets would be a huge disadvantage. Explosive ammunition is extremely ineffective against body armor as it explodes on impact with the armor, leaving a dent but no penetration. Exploding tips only work against unarmored targets like aliens, but the UNSC offers a huge level of protection. They would have to hit in an unarmored section which are usually small. To penetrate armor, you need KEPs, or kinetic energy penetrators, such as the jacketed bullets of the UNSC
1. You REALLY think the war could have been won without spartans? Battle experience? Most marines were killed in their first battles. You say animals as if they are less smart and less strong than us. Go into the wild barehanded and try to kill any predator I dare you. They are stronger than us. 2. Explosive bullets are extremely ineffective against armor are you kidding me? It shreds it! That is it's job! It destroys armored targets! If explosives were not effective against armor we wouldn't use them to blow up tanks would we?
The M41A Pulse rifle fires a caseless 10mm light armor piercing explosive utilizing a pulse action that fires at rates of 1100 rpm. That beats any UNSC weapons as they all shoot 20th century fmj bullets.
Colonial marines hands down. The smartgun, combined with the fact that their weapons all shoot explosive tipped rounds, makes for an effective killing force. Throw in the ugl and you got a recipe for devastation
I agree for the most part. UNSC Marines were based/modeled off the Colonial Marines when Bungie designed them. They made some adjustments to improve upon the originals. That being said, in game UNSC have more experience in general, & are used to fighting a theoretically superior force (mostly in technology) by using superior strategy. The M41A Pulse Rifle is superior battle rifles. They are more accurate than the standard UNSC battle rifles, hold more rounds per magazine, the rounds being caseless weigh less while still packing a punch, allowing for more ammunition to be carried. The rounds are armor piercing, & explosive. The 2 versions of the rounds either explode on contact, which is good for soft targets (grunts, jackels, buggers) as well as sapping energy shields. The other explodes a millisecond after penetration, shredding the targets insides, making it more effective against armored or larger targets (Elites, Hunters). Either is good against Brutes. The grenade launcher allows for more flexibility, & can fire multiple types of rounds, including shotgun. There is a SAW version of the M41 with a bipod, longer barrel, & 300 round magazine. The Smart Gun rules, & they do have a much more effective flamethrower. The Colonial Marines are more like Force Recon, & would be somewhat more like the Hell Jumpers, whereas the UNSC is more like regular forces. I would put both groups as fairly even to be honest. Colonials would do well with UNSC body armor, & some of their goodies. UNSC would do well with Colonial rifles/Smart Guns, & the kick ass Sentry Guns. Pelican Dropships are more agile, & a smidge more versatile, with a heavier payload capability. The UD-4L Cheyenne Dropship has a vastly superior weapons payload, is faster in a straight run (but less agile), & can carry an APC inside allowing the soldier to be dropped off in the APC, instead of mounting after drop off. The Colonial APC is well armored with heavier firepower then Warthogs, & have C&C abilities plus soldier monitoring capabilities. Warthogs are better for quick strikes. I could go on, but I wish I could have some Colonial Marine equipment assets in the HALO Universe.
I don’t think this will matter much, but the UNSC MARINES are like 400 years in advance to USCM. The USCM when we first saw them was in 2179, while in the the latest halo game(Halo Wars 2) took place in 2559 and obviously are superior in every way but either way I think they’re both badasses, love em both equally. If anything I think the UNSC was based off the USCM, they have similarities.
Pulse rifles did not fire conventional ammunition. They fired case-less ammunition, hence the lack of shells. I believe they were also said to be explosive rounds similar to what is used in warhammer 40k so not very conventional.
I’m gonna have to disagree for a few reasons. 1) the pulse rifle fires a 10x24mm explosive tipped round they explain this in the aliens movie that’s why they couldn’t shoot near the nuke generator. On top of this they have a grenade launcher attached under the barrel. So they have a huge advantage to the UNSC in terms of fire power. 2) the enemy you should knock down the UNSC because their enemy fights in a conventional way that all military’s are used to. Remember how fast the we’re owned by the flood. And they had at least a battalions worth. In aliens they went up against hundreds and still had one make it with 2 fire teams and a bootenant who had never seen action. 3) unless the military has gotten a lot better with their tech it can become a hinderance if they fully rely on it. This maybe the reason we the UNSC without helmets so much because it sucks. With this in mind I think the Colonial Marines win 2/3 of the time easy.
grady seibert I agree that the Xenomorphs are a much greater threat than the Covenant on a psychological level. But the Colonial marines are not. They are a normal military using human military tactics but they are not as experienced fighting other soldiers. They lack the UNSC marines experience and since the Colonial marines are not bringing anything new to the table in terms of tactics and most of their weapons are not bringing anything new either (weapons that render UNSC marines armor nearly useless is what they deal with everyday) I doubt they will win
The Covenant fights that way cause it's the most Effective way to fight Alien Tactics are mostly inferior to the Ones Covenant UNSC and Colonial Marines used the Flood isn't a Sign they were Incredibly powerful not Even the Amazingly Advanced Forerunners could stop them And The Colonial Marines are also A Conventional army one that has Nothing on the Covenant
I should note in halo 4's guide book, the shells used in the rifles are all 308 cal. Also, the DMR and Battle rifle are actaully close to or nearly the same gun. :3
