According to our repair specialist, rosin or acid core solders leave residue of their core inside the joint which can cause corrosion over time. I hope that helps you.

I'm thinkin cable ties wrapped in duct tape so as to not scratch the lacquer? I love the silly putty eggs, kids pipe cleaners, etc. You might as well make this smelly valve oil world fun!

@ USArmyFieldBand....So if I have a broken "S brace", is there a special kind of solder that I need to use in order to fix it? Or will regular "wire solder" work?

He only shows short term solutions on this channel that can be done if something goes wrong 5 minutes before a gig. His tips are for musicians, not for those who want to be techs. And soldering is not that hard, it's true, but you still need some practice. I've seen some... khmm... interesting attempts at soldering by musicians. Trust me, it's better if musicians don't try it. Especially if it's lacquered. Some musicians could do that, no doubt, but most of them would only make the situation worse.
