I love how you left out that Mexico invaded the republic of Texas 3 times in the 9 years of being it's own country. That's what made them go bankrupt. Also all the anglos that settled in Texas were Mexican citizens and half of the revolt included tejonos fighting against Santana. Also Mexico rebelled against Santana for two years before the Texas revolution started.
Have you thought about doing a vid about Canada's provinces? We are having a near crisis of Confederacy right now between BC and Alberta and it seems to only be heating up with our PM and federal leader of the NDP (the two parties in charge of each province) also taking a major hands off approach. We rarely get noticed by folks but be super fun to see your animation style go over it :)
Alec Norton Probably not because the people living there have no interest joining Mexico (I am a person living there). I'm not even sure that the illegal immigrants here have any interest in the area joining Mexico, if you're going to play that card.
It would be silly to give back territory that mexico only loosely controlled nearly 200 years ago haha, especially when the people living in it most certainly would not benefit from it, or want it.
Texas doesn't have to compete with anyone anymore. It's rich and it's a fucking red state with the best people. Honestly just close borders and let it run, and this coming from an immigrant.
Sure California has beaches but the water near the coast is national land so California can't do much with it. For example Nevada in which most of it's land is national land and the reason why their are a lot of nuclear testing facilities there.
I just love the ending. "I would reccomend California not going its own way any time soon" "I would reccomend the US not allowing Texas to go its own way any time soon"
Texas and California both share the same indomitable spirit of the Wild West- rugged individuality, freedom, and a totally unique style. Somebody can look, act, and dress 'Californian'. and somebody can look, dress, and act 'Texan'. Both states have their own paradigms and identities, various distinct geographical, cultural, and economic regions, and an enormous amount of territory and population. Essentially, while still being mostly American at heart, California and Texas are their own nations.
Marlon Quintana-Nieto trying to bring down california while boasting about texas being a country for a decade is just downright toxic. No one said anything to provoke you so you shouldnt act like they did
@@sonicxburner To be fair, there's a pretty substantial difference between being independent fora few weeks, and being an actual country that lasted 10 years, that had their own currency, fought their own wars, had multiple elections, etc. California's independence was more of a technicality than anything, especially when considering it had no civil structure and was created only by a few dozen landowners, in a tiny chunk of northern California, for the purpose of disturbing Mexico's presence in the area during the Mexican-American war
@@maka8551 texas had a rare stretch of super cold weather and because their power grid is separate from the rest of the US, they weren't ready and the entire state got fucked. Nothing worked, they had no heat and spotty electricity

diego contreras Slavery was actually one of the smallest factors of the Texan Revolution. The bigger ones included their exorbitant tax rates and the denial of equal rights compared to what the Mexican government defined as “true” Mexican citizens. Secession was a net benefit for everyone living in Texas at the time.
@@texantucker ...no, slavery played a larger role than you think. While not the largest factor, you can't deny that the right to own slaves was a key part of the Texan Constitution, since that clause (along with Mexico still claiming Texas) prevented Texas from joining the United States for nearly ten years. Most Texan schools don't teach kids this, and only that Mexicans were being jerks. Which admittedly they were, but the American settlers weren't so squeaky clean either.
@@texantucker early American Texans were allowed to live in the region and over time outnumbered the tejanos. More and more Americans settlers came over but when the Mexican govt tried to ban Anglo immigration, they got pissed. I would even say that a good chunk Texans are descendants of illegals (oh the irony). Also the ban on slavery in 1830 by Mexico clashed with the Americans desire to preserve chattel slavery so while not it wasn’t the sole factor for revolution it was important one. Also when you tend to outnumber the native population you feel like you own the place so another part it was the cultural differences and just the lack of respect they had for the Mexican govt. like any country or nation, it’s history is not black and white. The Texan revolution was not the Texans standing up for the Mexican govt for moral and just reasons anyone can see that with a little studying. However, Texan individuality today is great but lets remember history through unbiased lens.
Texas and California Sisters in Nationhood, Sisters in Statehood. Sisters with 2 completely different Economic and Political Structures and Philosophies that have led to major hate between California and Texas.
thatguy4973 What do you think the Star Represents on the California Flag? It was put there to associate itself with the Republic of Texas, as they were both American Style Republics that broke away from Mexican Rule. Them both having a lone star was not a mere coincidence, but was intentional. Though it was more California being like "Look Texas we are just like yoooou" rather than anything planned between the two states.
@@gamingthisera6339 No state should call itself the sole “patriotic” state, that’s like saying one state is better than the other. Every state is important, patriotic, and contributes greatly to the stability and structure of the U.S.
Quite true. Spain and then Mexico always underestimated too much to the north, so much so that in fact the state of Coahuila and Texas were the poorest in the whole country. Even today in northern Mexico the culture of our region has not been very promoted, reaching such a point that many believe that we are an empty desert, without indigenous people or culture of our own. Although we are much better than before (for an example Coahuila is no longer the poorest, he is one of the richest) but without reaching the level of California or Texas at all
It’s also the only of the three grids that’s shielded from a solar storm and other types of EMP. Basically, if that disaster happened today, Texas would have to take charge of the whole country, probably for several years. Trump would have to operate out from Houston, if he could get there alive. It will be Chaos like nothing else. God Bless Dr. Taylor Hanes for trying to push for an independent grid in Wyoming, a Geothermal powered one using Yellowstone energy. I hope he can become governor next year.
As every Midwestern US citizen I have ever met has said: "only thing bigger in Texas are the Steers and the Queers." This could be possibly extended to Oil Reserves, doesn't rhyme very well though.
@@The-Real-JD Well, if people would listen to what scientists have been saying for decades about climate change, a lot of people could've seen snow in Texas coming.
It really could be a strength if ERCOT was ousted and we built some nuclear plants as a back up. It’s vital to have it independent but also to make it strong.
It’z_G G doesn’t matter if you’re late bro. Texan parties don’t end from tiny things like the passage of time. From, a fellow Texan livin it up in the greatest place on earth.
So does Texas. I am not kidding. Haven't you ever came across some Texas tech companies before as a kid? Texas Instruments? I remember seeing calculators from a company there. If you think the state can't be advance you pretty much wrong. They aren't dumb people over there. They do dabble with tech there and it is not small scale. @@sebascorrea5649 I am pretty sure the US can go without California now. Maybe not 10 years ago. Maybe not 20 years ago. Maybe not 100 years ago. But today, in 2021, California is not proving it's worth. The migration of major tech companies is a result of that.
I'm a Texan who went to California for my birthday last year and I remember when I went to visit San Diego and my accent stood out so much everyone I talked too knew instantly I wasn't from there. I had a blast and love San Diego. Will gladly visit again. But Texas is where my heart is.
Chris1998 You mean North America And South America? I know that, and pretty sure everyone knows that lol, I'm just saying in your previous comment you said United States instead of United States of America. (See how condescending that sounds now? Lol.)
It's incredible how in the US, the states interact with each other almost as if they were diferent countries. I'm from Argentina (wich is supposed to be a federal republic) but practicly nobody cares about the governors of the provices or they respective laws, everyone just cares about the central goverment. I think this happens because the capital city of Buenos Aires and it's metropolitan area has about one third of the total population.
Yep! Honestly it used to be far more impressive than this too...the federal government has grown very large since the days of FDR. A lot of people complain American isn't a true 'democracy'...because they're right. The states are supposed to have a lot of independence.
Fun fact that all Texans know: We always measure distance by time like “Oh, Austin is about an hour down the road” instead of “Oh, Austin is about 65 miles away”. Also Whataburger has the best food here but you have to sit in line for hours
Lol, imagine going to austin. Every texan can tell you that Austin is the worst part of texas. Toooooo many Californians, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Lubbock, even El paso which is barely part of texas is more texas than austin
I can agree I literally say it takes however long to get to somewhere I never say "its gonna take us ___ miles to get there" theres too many miles out here 😳 Love from Orange County, Texas
Alejandro Flores I've got a hatred for any state that wants to give illegal immigrants the ability to vote. That want to change the age of consent to 12, that want to make it so if you touch the dirt within the borders of that state you're immediately an American citizen, they require regular water assistance as well as additional support from other states to combat wildfires landslides earthquakes etc and yet have the gaul to even think about breaking from the union. And to top it all off, liberal leftist elites either like live in or are from generally the SRC. And they decided to put broccoli on pizza for christ sake! So yes, I do have a weird grudge against the Socialist Republic of Commiefornia.
Zachary Marshall ok you have been misinformed about this state. No Californian wants to lower the age of consent or leave the union. It is not a state full of commies who want to legalize every illegal that steps foot on us soil. California is full of regular people who just have left of center values.
